I call a late afternoon / early evening nap a “danger nap.” And often substitute those words into the classic Kenny Loggins song as I’m heading to bed.
@moonhat Yup. If I take a nap (about once every 3 yrs) it means I am absolutely, totally exhausted and I will inevitably (fortunately) wake myself up gasping for air because I stopped breathing momentarily. And then I don’t know what day it is. Disconcerting.
15-20 minutes or 2-4 hours.
Sometimes 20 minutes turns into 4 hours.
So much for getting anything done that day.
Sometimes power naps last 30 minutes, sometimes they go for 2 hours. There is no set standard. But it you awake drowsy, you need another power nap.
Not getting caught at work.
Don’t do it while driving.
@PocketBrain my driver says, “The snoring is distracting.”
Try not to snore.
@heartny try and try again, and again try

Drink a cup of coffee beforehand. The caffeine will start taking effect about the same time as the end of 1 sleep cycle (~45 min).
Set an alarm. Or two.
Can’t do it. Never been able to nap. Hubby was a nap master. Me…not so much. Too disorienting.
@lseeber same here— I wake up totally confused and then am drowsy up until I go to sleep for the night. Not good.

I enjoy a good nap, however, I have never been able to master the power variety. Why is it that we enjoy naps, when we sleep through them?
