Season 3 has been disappointing. It’s a hodgepodge of 80’s movies ripped off to force nostalgia. It’s lazily written as it relays on 80s tropes and outright steals from 80s movies. Like the dude chasing them—I mean, rip off of The Terminator. Also, what the hell happened to Hopper?! He turned into a raging, violent, jealous, asshole. He’s not the same sweet man we’ve come to know and love. I was scared for El to be living with a man who so clearly cannot control his violent rages this season. And I was yelling at Joyce to not get involved with him because of these new developments with his inability to control himself. The two previous seasons I was shipping them so hard—now I’m hoping Joyce stays far away from the raging maniac.
@Gypsigirl213 I got so mad at Hopper for being an ass, but when I thought about it, I realized they were right to make him like that. He was living out in the woods, largely cut off from people, while desperately obsessing over how to keep El safe. He’s seen all this shit and lost his first daughter only to now have to keep El protected. So he drinks too much and doesn’t interact with people in the best ways while under all this pressure. Hell yeah he’d be an asshole and I appreciate they did that with a character I’ve loved from the start. He was still out there trying to do the right thing in the end.
I tried. On paper, I should love the show. But when I sat down with it, I couldn’t stand it. The kids were okay, but the teens and adults were unbearable. It felt like it dragged too often. I made it through season one (I asked the person making me binge it how long until it got good, only to be told we where halfway through the second to last episode), and started season 2 b/c everyone told me it was so much better (it was not, at least for me). I’m tempted knowing Cary Elwes is there, but I doubt it’ll be worth it.
@simplersimon Cary Elwes is hard to watch in the newest season. Wayyyyyyyy too much plastic surgery makes it hard for him to make facial expressions. Also, his acting is subpar. I’ve loved him in everything else I’ve seen him in, but this was all around disappointing. Spare yourself.
@simplersimon I had the opposite experience. Roughly. Thought I should hate it on paper, but found it… tolerable. So tolerable, I’m fairly sure I’ll eventually watch season three, some day.
@somf69 I put off GoT forever, but then decided to give it a go. Holy sh*t there’s a reason why it’s so popular-and trust me-it’s worth watching. Stranger Things is ok, but not near the caliber of GoT.
4 episodes in and so sad that there are only 8 episodes. This season seems to be moving much faster. El is growing up into such a pretty young girl. However Mike and Will seriously need haircuts. Gawd I am such a Mom.
I voted that it is fun, but you have to buy into the immersion and overlook a lot of stupid things to enjoy it. The one thing I was absolutely unable to overlook was the whole Neverending Story song.
Was that originally meant to be somewhere else in the show? Any 80s-child nostalgia it was trying to drum up was lost on the fact it was not the time for it and people died because of her little glee club shenanigans. If they wanted to do some more 80s throwbacks they could have given a nod to Indy had have Dustybun do his best Harrison Ford “WE. ARE. GOING. TO. DIEEEE” and tell Suzie to STFU and give the number already.
He was talking about the merchandising, but someone tweeted that it was like an annoying nerd following him around saying, “Hey, remember the 80s?” I probably won’t watch it.
I voted “it’s fine”. I liked it but thought the season didn’t need to have so many comedic scenes. Like Season 1, it took a few episodes to get to the really good stuff.
Stranger Things is a good show, but not one I would rewatch.
Never seen it, but I sure do see strange things for sale here every day on Meh!
Not the best season, but it was great! Now I have to wait for season 4

You guys missed a major crossover marketing opportunity here, “Meh: Stranger Things” could have been huge
Meh did have stranger things. Now, not so much. Maybe next season.

I like the story, but most of the writing for the dialogue between the characters is awful.
