I’m getting the wife a bidet for Valentine’s Day. I mean, bidet is French right? Gotta be romantic, right? Anything French has to be romantic, right?
Besides, it’ll look great with the Poop Step I got her for Christmas.
@MagnaVis had a conversation about it this weekend. He asked me what I wanted I told him I think it is a silly hallmark holiday but that i am enough of a sap that I want to be greeted with a mindblowing kiss and the words" happy valentines day sweetheart" but no stuff or anything elaborate. I asked him what he wants and he said cookies and sex. I figure I want him to take me at my work and so I am going to give him exactly what he asked for.
Three of my cuties really don’t care about Valentine’s Day and/or have plans with their other partners, so they’ll get a sweet text day of and that’s about it. Likewise with the two sweeties who live nowhere near me.
In one case, though, I’m going all out.
You see, he’s a big fan of The Venture Bros. There’s a giant artbook of storyboards, concept art, and interviews for each episode of the first six seasons and the various merch that was out before the start of the seventh. It’s like 400 pages long, and coffee table book sized.
I picked this up months ago, and started working my way through it, sticking post it notes in with commentary - our inside jokes, my reactions, et cetera. I would like it to be noted that I’m not a huge fan of the show myself, but do have more respect for it doing this project.
It should - should - be done in time for Valentine’s Day.
…It was supposed to be done in time for New Year’s (which we celebrate as our December-ish Holiday together, as he’s not-practicing-but-still-Jewish and I’m ex-Catholic.) But you know. I do my best.
@Kawa well, i LOVE the venture brothers (and my partner does too). i wish i didn’t have to wait such long times in between seasons but i understand given all the work that goes into it. i hope the book gets finished and they love it, although i can’t imagine it being anything short of amazing.
@MagnaVis I actually hadn’t heard the term pillow princess in a while so I looked it up to make sure it was what I remembered. Within the first few hits was an article trying to help guys enjoy being with one. It was really sad.
@RiotDemon I just looked it up again. I thought it generally applied to lesbians, seems it just generally applies to women more interested in being passive parties during sex, straight or otherwise. You’re right, that is sad.
@compunaut Hubby and I always had a deal… Valentines was a made up holiday so we’d get each other a card. That’s it. Although, usually a box of good chocolates went along with the card. We didn’t need the pressure.
I bought my wife a Quip toothbrush (yes, got it on meh!). Have you SEEN the shipping case it comes in? I want to meet their packaging designer and shake their hand - even if only because they got chutzpah in spades! Still debating whether or not to give it to her in a public restaurant…
My wife got me cheap steel-toe work boots so I don’t cry when I drop stuff on my toes while doing stuff on her honey-do list.
That storm door coming down on my pinkie toe had a lot more force behind it than it looked like, dammit!
@Mehrocco_Mole well the significant other might see this so I’m going to help it vague and leave the valuables out. I got her a giant stuffed kiwi because it is the most adorable of the flightless birds and it wasn’t easy to find something better than last year’s giant Valentine’s turtle
technically “nothing”, because his birthday is today, and i have already bought him a card and gifts as well as baked him a cake and am making him a steak dinner. i could have saved some of that for valentine’s day, but i prefer to do it all on his birthday instead. then on v-day i’ll make a different nice dinner. sometimes he gets me something if he comes across something really good (last year i got a print of one of our favorite web comics) other times we skip it. honestly v-day doesn’t matter that much to me, my birthday is the big one, and i also like xmas & NYE. (i do look forward to the valentine my mom sends every year though :))
Well, this will be the first Valentine’s Day in quite a few years that I actually have a boyfriend for, so even though it’s a cheesy commercialized holiday I’m planning to make the best of it. He’s local and super into inflatables like me, so I’ve bought him a big inflatable teddy bear holding a heart. To anyone else it’d probably be a gimmicky gift but considering the mutual love for inflatables I think he will adore it. Then it will be dinner at Taco Bell, followed by a nice night with my big inflatable wolf, Fenris! (Pictured below) I’m really looking forward to it. (Oh, and if he is somehow actually browsing Meh and sees this post, sorry for ruining the surprise, Cameron, I love you!)
