@LovelyLadyBumps I work in a small community hospital. We have a PET trailer here once a month. I don’t get the thrill of things like Dotatate. Where do you work?
@cinoclav I work for an independently owned/operated freestanding nuc med/PET scanning facility right outside of Washington, DC. We’re right across the street from one of the best hospitals in the nation according to US News and World Reports.
On the recommendation of someone here on Meh (I am sorry, I don’t recall who), I bought my son a bit of gallium. I was cleaning up gray hand prints from allll over the house for weeks!! It was quite cool to watch it melt in his hands though.
I’m not sure, but I think I got to work with liquid gallium back when I was doing a summer research program in a chemistry lab. It’s ~6 times denser than water, and it always freaked me out when I would pick up the little bottle. (I vaguely remember the liquid being “osmium iridium”, but after googling it, I don’t think that’s right. Whatever it was, it was crazy dense.)
We didn’t get to do any slo-mo though Thanks for the video, @blaineg
@narfcake I had to save that link for a couple days before I could find time to watch it, but that was incredible!
OK, now I want a pet gallium. I will name him George, and I will hug him and pet him and squeeze him…
@TheFLP Here’s your George:

@blaineg @TheFLP George will probably wet you.
I love science, especially when people have fun with it! So pretty.
That’s not the type of gallium I’m used to.

@cinoclav fancy!
@cinoclav @tinamarie1974 So much for “FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY”.
@cinoclav I work in Nuclear Medicine so I know exactly what you’re talking about!
@LovelyLadyBumps Me too! Which of course is why I posted it. Though we rarely do any gallium studies these days.
@cinoclav This is what we do where I work

@LovelyLadyBumps Need help? Lol I’m dying to get out of my hospital. As opposed to most who are dying to get in there.
Watched this when it first came out. Had to watch it again because it’s so pretty.

@mikibell Hm…maybe it happened right about the time @blaineg said Thu, Nov 30th 2017 at 1:16am eastern: Got Gallium? A kilo is only $300.
@blaineg @therealjrn quite possible… I am just glad the kid forgot that I bought him magnesium too…
@mikibell @therealjrn Yep, that would be my fault. Not sorry!
/youtube slow motion for me
@medz Unnnnnhhhhhhhhh
