@Chronicle@snapster Pros: Does what it says on the box. I picked one up from MorningSave a few months back and I’m not disappointed with the function for the price. I wouldn’t call it a competitor in the Apple and Android watch space due to the inability to run your own apps, but it has decent default features and when linked up, it’ll catch every app’s notifications. If you just want a way to see if you need to pull your phone out of your pocket or purse to respond or if you can ignore it until later, this is ideal.
Cons: The face selection is limited but they look pretty good. Easily the biggest downside is that it connects to your phone via an app and not direct linking through Bluetooth. You have to keep the app on your phone and running at all times in order for it to send the notifications over. The app doesn’t have a lot going for it other than letting you pick what other apps are allowed to send notifications and some can’t be blocked because they’re nested notifications (you have to block an app wholesale so you can’t block just specific notification types from that app). If you could choose “hide this notification type” directly from the watch screen and just link directly via Bluetooth, this would be the perfect notification system. As is, I give it 6.5/10.
@ExtraMedium@snapster Thank you. I was concerned about that app integration. Any device that demands an app to be installed to use it is a big red flag for me. Especially if the functionality includes access to your location and message content. Your concerns about the fact that you can’t stop it from reading specific notification types is a double red flag with an X on it for me. I appreciate your taking the time to write this up for me and the other concerned Meh users.
I wouldn’t have the use of all the features of these types of watches, so I’ve never bought one. I like the look and idea of them, so I would like one, but I wouldn’t pay hundreds for one. I saw this one on sale and it looked to fit my needs for a lot less. Now that I have it, I love it. It fulfills all my needs. It looks great, it’s responsive, it’s everything I wanted. I’ve checked out some of the other features (couldn’t resist checking them out, even if I don’t plan on using them) and they also work well. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who was thinking about one. Another benefit, I always have to get a new band for every watch I own because I have big wrists and the standard sizes don’t fit. I can use this one just fine.
