Depends on the dog, doesn’t it? I had a Flat Coat Retriever that needed very little training - in tune with everything & everyone.
My current rescue dog, who I thought was a Catahoula mix, is loving but reactive & fearless. I feel incredibly safe hiking with Blue in Mt Lion territory. I don’t feel he is safe in public with other dogs & people. (He is loving around dogs & people he’s met.) Currently, I can’t even walk him with a pinch collar because he’s so strong. (He spent a month at DOC Colorado & it helped alot) I’m thinking this could help me get his attention. We’ve had Blue 8 years, a recent back surgery has made me weak & I want to walk him again. I’ve always been against these collars but I’m rethinking.
