Will this reliably run over the little piles of dog poop in my house and smear it around endlessly until I get home from work? I’m tired of doing it myself.
I bought this 2 months ago here when it was last on sale. It works well enough, vacuuming way more often than I would have been and picking stuff up each run. It’s not too smart; it bumps into everything and it’ll run over cords or get stuck occasionally on floor registers. That’s why I only let it run when I’m home, to keep an eye on it.
Couple of weeks ago one of the spring loaded wheels broke and got jammed up inside of the robot, so it just spun around in a circle. Went to go send it back for repair and found out it would have cost $85 to ship it. For a robot I paid $89. At that point I’d just buy a more expensive one. The whole point was to find out if I like these new vacuum robot things (which I do).
So then I had a paperweight that I didn’t feel bad about tinkering with. Luckily the wheel housing was easy to open, and I was able to fix the hinge that the wheel was on. Some glue and gorilla tape later, the robot works like new again. Who knows how long it’ll last though.
Oh also for the 0.0001% of you using AdGuard Home on your network for blocking ads, this robot will NOT connect to wifi. It has nothing to do with a domain being blocked, it’s how the DNS responses are sent back to the robot. I dunno man, I pulled my hair out for a couple days until I finally switched to Pi-hole and then it magically started working.
@PhasecoreX Thank You! I previously just turned off AdGuard Protection to no avail, but now I disabled everything (Filtering, Protection, Safe Browsing), and it finally worked!
Before I checked the router’s DHCP table, the Shark’s internal webserver, and pinging the IP, and all showed it was connected to WiFi, but the app would fail at the final step (verifying with the Shark site).
I wonder if excluding this device IP in AdGuard will prevent it from mucking the DNS response.
@gleemer You’re welcome! Glad I helped at least one person lol.
I had turned off AdGuard Homes protections and filters and whatnot, still wasn’t working. So I was thinking “nah, it can’t be that, I don’t even see anything being blocked.” But then I ended up switching my routers DNS server to use my ISPs, and then all of a sudden it worked! Maybe it was just something weird between my router and AdGuard.
I used dig and drill commands to compare what was coming back from AdGuard and my ISP, couldn’t tell the difference. Luckily Pi-hole works just fine. Wasn’t about to lose whole-home ad blocking over a little robot lol.
Not sure about excluding the device IP, it would depend on if AdGuard passes through the response or still reconstructs it. My understanding is that it’s probably the latter.
I just got that same one several weeks ago. I’m very pleased with it. I just program it to vacuum when I’m not around. emptying the little bin is a snap. I have three cats so it’s easy to see and smell the difference. I highly recommend!
Bought one last time they were on sale here, and it refused to charge. Too much IRL stuff going on with me (cancer, etc.) so I never returned it. It’s still sitting reboxed in my living room.
Not sure what the point of this story is, but stay in school, and winners don’t do drugs.
@guybrush01 Wonder about the batteries in these. I had one once, after a few years the battery went kapot, and I didn’t bother to get a new one. So…if they’re not replacing the batteries, I’d be leery.
@eeterrific@guybrush01 they are replaceable. Just about everything is. I have this one in my garage, since I got a newer one w/ autoempty last Christmas. Got a new battery and it’s just as zippy as it was when I bought it open box at BBB 4 years ago.

Got a few of these running around. Easy to program, work well. Just clean out the dust cup every 3-4 days. If you have a pet and don’t vacuum everyday you should have one of these.
Bought one of these a couple months ago in an earlier Meh. Very happy about the performance. We have a hairy dog, but mostly hardwood so YMMV. Always finds its way back to it’s home under a couch, so it stays out of the way. Cleaning the rollers is not hard at all. Communication is a little slow, but all in all not bad at all. It’s my first robovac, and I guess I’m in the cult now because if/when this breaks I’ll get some other one.
I have been waiting for an affordable version of one of these to help around the house since I’m disabled… and also so my tortoise has a carnival ride on holidays. I’m so sad my packages has gone missing and I don’t know what to do about it! FedEx is not responding and meh is busy or something
Received around New Year 1/2/22. March 29th does not work any more. Meh replies that time has passed?? That is less than 90 days. Does Meh stand behind its own warranty?
Cat Uber.

@Konraden why yes, yes it will, and bonus it spreads the pee around real good too.

@PhasecoreX As I was reading, I was thinking “Don’t send it in for $90! Fix it yourself!” I was then satisfied.

OH NO! IT ATE GLEN!
@werehatrack You sure it is eating and not sucking?
@werehatrack @yakkoTDI He does look pretty happy…
OH MY GOD THEY SHARK ATTACKED GLEN!!!

@docflash I mean, really, how difficult is it to see and smell the difference between a vacuum and a cat?
@docflash @pchops
It’s the new and improved Mr. Roboto!!
/giphy Mr. Roboto
@yakkoTDI Well Giphy, that may not be the Mr. Roboto I was expecting but I will take it.
@yakkoTDI I do believe instead of “I will take it” you meant to say “Domo Arigato”, didn’t you?

@eeterrific @guybrush01 @RoninSavant I think that the point was that if the battery has not been changed, then that would entail an extra charge.
@guybrush01 I hope you have a full recovery soon! Hang in there!

But, does this Shark also suck?
Coincidentally, Amazon has ECOVACS robotic vacuums on sale today, too – but those are $280 to $500.
This… or a real Roomba?
Can I get it by tomorrow?

@Panegyric Click on the “?” at the top right and send a message to customer support.

@avante296
If going by the purchase date, it’ll be over 90 days.
If going by the receiving date, then 29 days elaspsed in January, 28 days for all of February, and 31 days until today in March – so 88 days.
(I’m not staff, so I can’t say one way or another on how the clock counts.)
