I have one of these and it’s fine. Good suction, cleans well. The feature where you can lift the canister off and walk around with it is a dumb gimmick and I’ve never used it outside of once to see if it really worked. And as with any bagless vac, good luck emptying the unit without getting dust anywhere.
@rockblossom@winfield Cannister is great for cleaning cars. The way to empty any bagless is to hold the whole thing inside a large outdoor trash bin and shake it out. Yes, they don’t work like in the commercials (nothing does) but they’re better than replacing bags.

what no one understand is this…It is not how much dirt is in the cup after you clean…it is how much dust is in the air after you clean. The only way to test a vacuum is to run a particle air scanner around the vacuum and in the room while you are vacuuming. Now you find out how much dirt you really got…
Remember your Mom and Grand mom would always vacuum and then dust?..you know why?..because the vac process would raise more dust than it should. Ask any old school Electrolux canister user.

The thing I still can’t seem to wrap my head around is why people prefer bagless vacuums. Do people like emptying the canisters into trash cans and then watching the dirt and dust explode into the air every time something else is thrown into that same trash bin? What measures are taken to prevent this from occurring that is easier than just having a filter bag built in?
@wickhameh Bags are expensive. If you have cats (other animals) that shed a lot you go through a lot of bags pretty quickly. Sure you can reach your hand into the bag and pull everything out and reuse the bag but it is less messy to just dump a canister. I realize bags trap dust but in my opinion the greater good is to save money by not having to buy a ton of bags. Of course if I had no pets I might come down on the other side of the argument.

When they came up for sale again a couple of months ago, I bought another for my wife (who lives in HOU, where her job is; I live in DFW, where MY job is). While visiting her, I thought I’d do some vacuuming to show her how perfect a husband I really am and imagine my shock to find that her vacuum is quite different from mine. It doesn’t ‘steer’ with the tilting of the handle, is far more effort to push and doesn’t have the same wand or attachments. Is this thing really even a ‘Shark’? I haven’t told her, but I really like mine WAY better. Can I get another like the first one I bought?
Son and his wife have this. They like it.
That said there is no way this is a Christmas present for my wife. General rule of thumb is … If you can plug it in it should not be a Christmas gift.

I own this model, and it a great vacuum. The only caveat (and it is pretty nit-picky, but annoying nonetheless) is that the head is so small it won’t stand by itself very well. One small tug on the cord and the thing is falling over.
Is the brush shown on the steps a powered brush (not just a suction-driven one, like the other brush attachment shown)? It’s an important distinction. That’s the selling point of this model for customers with pets and carpeted stairs.

I purchased a refurbished one of these in February for upstairs I was having company for thanksgiving and I wanted to vacuum the bedrooms, nobody sleeps up there so it wasn’t dirty, I started vacuuming and it use to work great I had to shut it off my husband was trying to talk to me when I turned it back on nothing dead I went to a different outlet that a light was plugged into and still nothing. I have probably used it 6times since I got it and now it’s going to go to the landfill. It really makes me angry to think I paid $20 less for reconditioned and now I see it for this price. I’m not sure I want another one because of what I went through with the first one. I’ll have to give it some thought but be wary of refurbished products they don’t last after 6 times using it.

@winfield I lift the canister off, then lay the rest of it flat to clean under furniture.
