I need to get these since the Turtle Island 'phones that I bought from this very site refuse to pair with my Android phone. If these don’t pair too, there will be hell to pay, meh! And by “hell to pay,” I mean I will buy the next pair of over-ear Bluetooths you sell, because checking this site every 9 pm PST is one of the only things that distracts me from my pathetic existence.

@IAmBroom I’d never pay full price for their stuff but 50% off made it worthwhile. Of all their products, their noise canceling headphones are truly the only product that I find to be way above the competition. The only other ones that came close are the Sony MDR’s. I have an older set of well regarded Able Planet NC headphones. While they’ve sufficed over the years, both the sound and the noise canceling of the QC35’s blow them away.

I bought two of these just because the price was low enough to justify it. I usually at least do the bare minimum of internet research first, but not this time. Hopefully I don’t regret it. For just under $20 these seem like a cromulent deal.
Had me at “bluetooth” and “noise cancelling”. It took two tries, but I bought the blue ones. If they stink, then I’ll know to try “noise isolating” headphones next time.

@hafner My ears are quite normal, thank you. Well, except for the fact that they are kinda pointy at the top like elf ears. I wear hearing aids though, and have since I was a kid, so I’ve bought tons of sets claiming to be over the ear and they even sit ON my kids’ ears.

Meh, I love you guys, but this one just doesn’t pass the bar for me. Is there something I’m missing in this deal? Have I looked at the wrong product? I want to like these, but I just don’t see enough to make me pull that trigger.
@Squic I remember that Meh sold some very similar earbuds during their first ever Meh-rathon. ($5 IIRC, and looked absolutely identical). So it almost seems like Meh split the product you linked to into 2 separate offerings…
These do look EXACTLY like the Cowin E7, which I own. While those do list at $70, I’ve seen them on sale (and bought they) at $39. They are well worth that price. They neither sound as good as the Bose (which I’ve also had and broke), nor do noise reduction as well, but they do a useful job don’t come with horrible remorse when you break or lose them.
If I knew for sure these were rebranded E7s, I’d buy another pair for inventory at this price.
@rlesieir@jrstinkfish they list active noise cancelling as a feature, model number probably relates to the bundle or something. Either way nearly $9 in shipping leaves Meh as the superior deal even without VMP.

Classic meh! I would have bitten, except I already have far more bluetooth, noise-canceling, gluten-free, over-ear/on-ear/in-ear devices (most from meh) than I have ears.

Are these updated to prevent the Bliebourne virus that can travel from Bluetooth to Bluetooth device?
My understanding is that even though you’re phone (or other Bluetooth device) may be updated, it can still get through on a older Bluetooth device. Blutooth LE is apparently immune from this particular virus. Can someone confirm or maybe I’m just talking crazy here?
They sound pretty awful on either the bluetooth or the noise cancelling settings. I guess the NC will be good enough on an airplane, but here in the office it just turns background noise into white noise and very poorly EQs the music.
With BT and NC off and the headphones analog wired into my Mac, they sound acceptable for $20 cans.
I tried them on BT and they sounded decent-ish. I tried them with just Nice Canceling and they did a good job with consistent sounds like a window AC unit. Then I tried them with Noise Cancelling and music playing and threw them at the wall. Not sure who quality tested that and said “yeah, that sounds ok”.
I just tried mine. I’m confused. If I have it on “on” I can hear my stuff but it is echoey. If I have it on “BT” all I get is a weird annoying fluttery sound. “Off” works with a cord.
That’s not right, is it? Isn’t “BT” supposed to give me sound without noise cancellation?
I own the Cowen E-7, which appear identical and find noise cancelling good, but sound in either regular mode or nc to be quite muffled. Also they make your ears sweat.
sigh. I just bought the Cowen E-7’s last week on an Amazon lightning deal for $39. Also they look to be going on lightning deal again today in an hour (for prime members). These do look almost identical, makes you wonder…
Finally, the Cowen’s, which appear identical are not designed for a large head; my hat size is 7 7/8 and the phones start to become very uncomfortable in 30 minutes or so.
Got mine and BT sounds ok, but with NC on, my right earcup has these strange rhythmic pulses that distort the noise and also flutter against my ear. Doesn’t happen all the time, but still very annoying. It does seem to do a decent job of reducing background noise. I’d say that someone who is on a budget, wants over-the-ear BT and ANC, these might fit the bill.
FYI, no have playback controls, just volume. Power and mode controls are with a dinky little switch which I know will eventually break, but hey, 20 bucks.
