@Limewater Well, they have a full menu including appetizers and desserts, so that’s been our go to when everything else is closed. Great egg rolls and jalepeno poppers, decent cheesecake and chocolate cake.
I picked “Meat, cheese, classy party food” and the reality for tomorrow is that we will have a Trader Joe Brie in pastry, perhaps some other cheeses and then we will heat two frozen smallish Trader Joe pizzas, one plain and the other pepperoni and Zoom for 1-2 hours with a couple we often spend New Year’s with. I baked a lemon loaf cake for dessert which may or may or be good-I am not a skilled baker. Oh well.
Tonight… Ham and cheese sandwich, spiced pecans, chips
Tomorrow… probably the same
Did I mention I am at work?? 1445-2315 (if it stays manageable) and back 0645-1900 tomorrow…

Do yours have fresh rosemary in them…? I love that recipe. I picked up 35 lbs of pecans in the yard this year and am still picking thru them after I had them cracked!

These are super delicious and have a bit of heat due to the pepper and cayenne.
SPICED PECANS
Ingredients:
4 cups pecan halves
1½ tsp salt
⅛ tsp fresh ground black pepper
¼ tsp cayenne pepper
1 heaping tablespoon dark brown sugar
1 heaping tablespoon finely chopped fresh rosemary
1 tablespoon melted butter
2 tablespoons olive oil
Cooking directions:
1 Preheat oven to 350°F. Place the pecans on a baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes.
2 Remove from the oven. Season the pecans with the other ingredients and toss together until thoroughly coated.
3 Spread evenly on baking sheet.
4 Return pecans to oven for another 2-3 minutes, until toasted and fragrant, but do NOT overcook them
5 Cool and store in airtight container.
Do not leave out or substitute for the FRESH rosemary as that is the ‘secret ingredient’ that makes the recipe.

@klh64 sounds great. And thanks - you too! One alteration I might make is, especially if you are using sauerkraut, cook the sauerkraut in the bacon fat first for a bit before you add the stock. Just adds some flavor. You can do the same with the cabbage, especially if you think it was a little undercooked originally. I tend to add stock last for most soups. And heating the stock before you add it helps as well.
New Years Eve is party food. Marinated meatballs, air-fried chicken wings, devilled eggs. New Years Day dinner will be bacon wrapped scallops, potatoes au Gratin, and probably leftover Christmas cookies with Culver’s frozen custard on them.
So far dinner is non-existent. I miss having new years dinner with my parents. This year I couldn’t even be bothered to do anything with friends. 7am will come way too early tomorrow for that.
Ordered a heat and eat appetizer meal from a local restaurant. So far we’ve had meatballs and crab cakes. My son and I will be eating appetizers for days.
We usually go to our favorite seafood place, then come home for Champagne and dessert. But this being 2020, we’ll get pizza or Chinese food. I did get some extra fancy Champagne this year.
@chienfou One of my all-time faves. We had it last year, and I like to switch it up, so this year it’s Louis Roederer Brut Premier. I’ve had their regular Brut before and liked it, plus this one came in a pretty box, and I’m a sucker for pretty boxes.
