I got something similar in a Fuko once. It was amusing for about 5 minutes and now sits in a drawer in its little carrying pouch. As much as we want to pretend that our phones are a substitute for a real DSLR camera, it isn’t.
I got a (similar) macro lens recently and I’ve had a blast with it.
Here’s one of the little ants that has invaded my bathroom cleaning himself like a cat:
Here’s a cat’s little toes
Here’s an eyeball
And a spider with six and a half legs that lives by our backdoor
I tried to use this for my Note and it doesn’t work too well because of the camera placement. Probably only works best with iPhones and top of the phone cameras.
@Apostlii I didn’t try this specific one but I’ve tried others with my Note and the clip isn’t large enough to get to the camera so far away from the edge.
I’m not expecting anything resembling quality (or even decent) optics for $10 (or even for the Amzon price of $24.99 for something “similar”), but if I can get a couple decent macros or some warped panoramas, it’s probably worth it …
/giphy afraid-ostentatious-fire
Not sure I could use this with my Galaxy S10 as it has three camera lenses on the back. Which one gets to be the lucky lens with the attachment? Or unlucky as the case may be.
Thinking, thinking, still have a coupon code or 2 somewhere from Meh b-day.
But, honestly, if I haven’t yet played around with my current phone camera gizmos (panorama, slow mo, hyperlapse, etc.)… I probably would never really use this.
Figures this would pop up the night I was complaining about the lousy photos from my phone of the mountain that’s on fire across the lake from us… (not that I walked the 20ft back into the house to get my digital camera that has an actual 20x zoom lens on it.)
The problem with this is exactly the problem with my digital camera: I wouldn’t have it on me when I needed it. Plus I’m lazy.
Still trying to figure out what “aide” angle is. I guess I’ll have to buy it to find out. Hoping that it is the same thing as “magnifying glass for old blind farts” lens.
@cinoclav BWAHAHAHA - that case was a fucking joke. Absolute clown shoes. OOOH - THEY STOLE OUR ROUND CORNERS AND ICONS IN A ROW!!! THOSE PIRATES!!!
Meanwhile, the iPhone 8 was a Samsung S6 technically, the iPhone X a Samsung S8.
Dropping the headphone jack was merely evolution, 1) now that Apple has poisoned the market by making everyone use shit Bluetooth, and 2) since nearly no one used headphones on a Note…
Apple and Microsoft are carbon copies - when you can’t innovate, litigate. It’s a yawn.
@mediocrebot@Pufferfishy I don’t believe in the “/ buy” command. But I left the space just in case it does happen to work, because I’m broke. It must be a recurring joke here, right?
@mikeureko It’s no joke - if you have VMP status it’s one of the “hooks” here that you can leverage. It automagically buys the current product up for sale.
@bsyris I was going to say its reviews get an “F” on Fakespot. But I see you beat me to it “a few seconds ago.” However, I’m not sure if that’s all you meant… Seems like you’re saying Fakespot typically gives an “F” for 5-star reviews.
It doesn’t seem to work well if your sensor is pretty much in the middle of the back and not at the very upper side of the phone.
Also most modern phone use multiple sensors/cameras and fuse the image - this would block those other sensors.
@datruandi Yeah, I have the Moto G7 Power whose camera is in the center of the back, about an inch down from the top. Not risking this not working. Looks like it would work for iPhones though.
This just arrived. Played with the telescoping lens for 20 minutes. One out of five stars. One popcorn box out of five. Bummer. Can I return items from Meh? This package is a loser.
@gibbons03 I agree! I had my heart set on taking some telephoto pictures, but the lens introduces prism-like artifacts that are different, but not better than, the JPEG artifacts I get from digital zoom. One popcorn box with nothing but kernels left at the bottom.
@jmbunkin What kind of phone do you have? On an iphone SE the opening in the lenses isn’t big enough to include the entire photo area and so there is a round circle. I am giving this as a present to a family member and it may not work well with iphones perhaps? I was presuming it would since the camera was on top. My telephoto is broken but the other lenses work so thinking just pretend I only bought the one box and not the telephoto as the present… That family member has an iphone, but I think it is an 8 or an X or something.
Item box came to me kind of damage, there was rip in several area suggesting either poorly handle or crushed under something else or some one want to take a look at it with out removing the contents. 0 star out of 5, the longer telescope looks damage or poorly assemble. Rubber is covering the display for distance zoom, cannot see how far out it is.
@aznboiultra I see what you mean about the thing that tells you how far out the zoom is. I presumed that yellow strip came off so you could see. Nope. Doesn’t. Wonder if it used to be clear and these are so old they are yellowed?
I bought this as a christmas present for a family member… now I think I need to look to see if what I got is trashed too or OK. Wasn’t going to open it.
Well the telephoto doesn’t work at all. Sigh. The rest of them you get round photos as they don’t have a big enough opening to actually cover the entire camera lens area with the the clip on lens. As a result they’d only work if you are going to crop the photo. Phone is iphone SE.

@mehgrl I got those too, but they’re pretty crappy.
I can’t picture this being very good.
I thought “Power to Go” was going to be a laxative.
@phendrick You won’t know until you try eating one.
Laying on the Mediocritee a bit strong today, are we?

@Moose That’s awesome, thank you for sharing. Love the ant one especially.

Fish eye lens? Try housefly eye or goat eye lens kit and then I’ll be interested.

Crap, what a giphy fail!
@cengland0 @hafner if you ‘edit’ your post you will get a new gif… Even if you don’t change anything
Yah, all that glass for 10 bucks, no.
Don’t stand so close to me! Oh, sorry, just my telescoping eye enhancers out of focus again.
Eh… wtf… might be useful for something…

So why do I still want it?
/8ball Should @llangley buy it?
Very doubtful
@narfcake That’s even MORE fucking awesome now that it’s sold out!!
WORKER BEES! HERCULES! TURKEY GREASE! AWESOME!
Crap, but it’s probably fun to play around with at this price if you have the time and want to attempt getting a cool picture.

Macro lens? Finally I can get some good dick pics that O hear the ladies love!

@flehm Someone lied to you. Probably another guy.
@flehm What it’s that small? (snicker).
@flehm @Kidsandliz OUCH…
@chienfou He (@flehm) set himself up for that… all I did was point it out (evil grin - no offense meant by the way).
@flehm @Kidsandliz gotta admit i had the same thought…
Still trying to figure out what “aide” angle is. I guess I’ll have to buy it to find out. Hoping that it is the same thing as “magnifying glass for old blind farts” lens.
i’m surprised Samsung didn’t think of this…would have been handy…in 2012 (maybe)
@fastharrydotcom I’m surprised Apple didn’t think of this and Samsung copied it.
@cinoclav good one…
@cinoclav
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA - you actually think Samsung copied from Apple???
That’s adorable!
@Pufferfishy https://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/2018/05/24/samsung-must-pay-apple-539-million-copying-iphone-patents/623908002/
And what’s that missing on the Note 10? Oh yeah, the headphone jack that Samsung made fun of Apple of for removing for the last few years.

Stop pimping Mediocritee. We get it. You’re embarrassing yourselves.
@mehvid1 So more screenprint Sunday instead. Got it.
@narfcake why either/or?
@mehvid1 Is that even possible for a site called Meh?
Is this a sign of the coming crash that Meh is recycling their unsold crap instead of providing us some new items?
I already have a fancy Olloclip set but this is so dang cheap I went ahead anyway.

5 star reviews get an F on Fakespot.

@richrauch No, you’re exactly right: the reviews for this product get an F. Not 5 star reviews in general.
