@Mandamm Other animals will do it if the opportunity arises - I’ve seen cats, dogs, horses, birds, and even lizards drink cows’ milk, even if it’s not necessarily good for them. We’re just the only ones that figured out how to get it reliably.

half tap water half ice in a nalgene 24/7…unless i’m at a bar. in which case vodka soda with lime or jameson on the rocks. an old fashioned or a super dirty vodka martini if i’m at a nice cocktail serving place.
that’s really it, i probably have half a can of coke once a month to aid in becoming less hungover from aforementioned cocktails, and occasionally i’ll have hot chocolate made with milk in the winter, or iced hibiscus tea with lemons in the summer.
@jerk_nugget and i used to be a big milk drinker…i still love milk. i always have whole organic milk in the fridge. growing up milk was always served with meals, my parents still have it with dinner. but i don’t need the calories, i’m fat and sedentary enough, and water helps with my skin issues and staying hydrated helps me ward off migraines, so.
one other thing i love to drink…venti iced green tea lattes with skim milk from starbucks. i only have a few a year but dang, they are good.
@jerk_nugget I don’t understand ice-water. The extreme cold temperature makes it a lot harder to drink in quantity. And in humid parts of the country, it leads to the condensation getting all over the place.
@Limewater ah, i see the misunderstanding. i don’t like freezing water either. the reason for so much ice is because my tap water isn’t very cold. so it makes the water a perfect temp for drinking immediately, and then as it melts it allows me to have cool water most of the day depending on the weather. (a nalgene holds a liter of water and i drink 2-3 per day.) it is ridiculously humid here part of the year and yes it does sweat everywhere but then, so does everything including me just life, nbd.
@jerk_nugget If your water still has ice in it at all, it’s too cold for me, unless you just put it in.
Even out of the tap, I usually let it sit a while before I drink it to let it come up a bit closer to room temperature.
@Limewater yes, i put the ice in and drink it immediately. then the ice makes new cool water for later on as it sits out while my thirst is quenched for the time being.
at my parents they use a brita filter so i would never add ice to already refrigerated water and sometimes that water is too cold for me.
the water temp in our apartment is the bane of my existence. the kitchen tap on cold is often cold for a second to start but then turns warm or lukewarm. it would waste a lot of water to wait for it to get to the perfect drinking temp. in the shower it’s worse, the cold water seems to “run out” randomly and all that’s left is boiling hot water that could literally burn your skin. good times! anyway, i go through a lot of ice
@jerk_nugget We keep our filter pitcher on the kitchen counter. Refrigerated water is way too cold. If I was just going to sip it, I guess it would be alright.
Roughly speaking, where do you live that the cold water is so warm?
@Limewater boston been here since '01 and my partner is born and bred here and neither of us have ever experienced anything like it. i suspect it’s related to one or both of our downstairs neighbors acquiring an appliance such as a dishwasher or washing machine, but my landlord refuses to look into it so who knows. at least he’s the one footing the bill for the heat & hot water, but it’s extremely annoying.
eta: i mean lived in the boston area since '01, not lived here in this apartment. been here a little over four years.
@Limewater haha! yeah, i gathered we might be on opposite ends on that one it’s great for me most of the year (i hate summer) - it’s a very brisk and gusty 15F tonight & the bedroom window is cracked still lol. i run very warm. i have one winter coat i’ve never worn.

I drink so much more milk than water and thats probably not good but i dont care. Milk tastes too good.
