Ooooops
9So this is kind of a TIFU moment. As most of you probably know, I run Wootstalker, which is affiliated with Woot.
Well, a long long time ago, I launched a mobile app (Android) for the site. Not too long after the app was launched, a (what was supposed to be temporary) change was made to remove affiliate links from being activated, until I actually got approval to use mobile advertising. It turns out that this temporary change was never reverted, so for the past 2+ years, nothing from the app was associated with my site.
I have no idea what the damages are, but I could take a guess. My bad.

What caused the sudden realization that it went unnoticed?
@wilstev Woot is making a change on their end in the near future, and I was making the preparations for it on my end. I’m not allowed to use my own affiliate links for obvious reasons, so I have them disabled on my version of the app. Tracking is kind of limited, which is why it went unnoticed for so long.
@wilstev Really, @lichme was reading the “What Would You Do With a Million Dollars” thread and wondered where the million dollars had gone.
Huh. I never knew you run Wootstalker. I feel really not informed at this moment.
@mfladd Indeed. I also run MehStalker
So you were making too much unreported income?
@therealjrn Eh? That’s not it at all. Just a mess up on my end that caused me not to earn any income from my app for 2+ years.
@therealjrn … nevermind @lichme beat me by seconds…
At least I was correct.
@lichme
Well, sux.
I dont think you can just call up Bezos and ask him to be nice, either.
Ouch, sorry.
@lichme What ELSE have you been missing?
@OldCatLady
Oooh, getting personal! Yes!
@OldCatLady I’m not sure yet.
Fricken @skemmis.
@ACraigL #SkemmisSmells
@medz :’(
@skemmis smells like handsomeness
LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICH!
(sorry your app wasn’t bringing in cash money. but, you’re already rich, right?)
@carl669 I wish I was rich enough like @lichme to not notice I wasn’t getting paid for 2+ years. That’s like Scrooge McDuck rich!
@therealjrn The important question is: Does Lich have enough money to swim in?
@carl669 Caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarl! If I was rich, I wouldn’t be on woot/meh in the first place. I’d pay full price for junk I don’t need like some kind of sucka.
@therealjrn - The website was still functioning as it should and tracking properly, so it’s not like it was reporting 0 sales for 2 years. I’d guess 85% of sales come from the site. Unless somebody specifically tells me they bought something, and I notice I didn’t get credit for it, it’s hard to tell if anything is missing. That happens never. I probably should have separated the site and app for statistics and such, but the entire project started as a hobby, and I didn’t really care. Feel free to point and laugh
@lichme
@lichme
/giphy point and laugh
/giphy haha sucker
@lichme
You know what? That’s not what I wanted, but it’s cool. Let’s try again:
/giphy haha sucker
Eh, good enough. Took, like, 10 tries, though.
@jqubed I almost built a bicycle like that motorbike when I was a kid, I had plans I found in some sort of lightweight engineering book.
Look on the bright side - at least you didn’t wait 5 years to catch it.
Now I can’t get “Oops!.. I Did It Again” out of my head.
@conandlibrarian
Well then make it worse
@f00l UGH!
@f00l
/giphy doh!
/giphy my my
This should cover some of them…
