@jouest I don’t mind them on TV that was made for broadcast, much. And I didn’t mind them on Spotify until I was driving 1000miles a week and using it in the car. I have a ton of dialectal music but i can’t stream it on the TV. While I can throw it to the soundbar, I have to get up to the computer to shut it off to watch TV. this is… easier.
I didn’t watch any of the Olympics and I rarely turn on the TV. For background it is usually a few YouTube channels, a friend’s Plex server or streaming music from somewhere.
The TV is on only when I turn it on for something I have chosen to watch. Same with radio. (To listen. I don’t literally “watch” the radio while I listen to something. I’m odd, but not quite that odd. Yet.) I like quiet, if birds chirping, cows mooing, squirrels running over the roof, road noises, and neighbors mowing can be considered “quiet”. Adding artificial human background noises to that mix is just not to my taste.
MeTV has a new all-cartoon station that I watch A LOT. Almost CONSTANTLY. It’s on RIGHT NOW and I don’t even likeSpeed Racer (although the theme is wonderful).
Anyone missing sports coverage? Marble League qualifiers for 2024 are coming later this year, but the 2023 final is here. Be sure to stick around for the closing ceremonies.:
if I’m doing something else, usually it’s on Pandora with an eclectic mix of everything from K-pop, Showtunes, Zydeco, Classic Rock, Techno, Tejano, Rockabilly, and Bollywood.
(Though honestly I’ve got about eight hours of sports to catch up on. And a bunch of movies and Antiques Roadshow. This custom DVR is terrible for my OCD.)
@Kyeh she does continue to be extremely impressive. But idk anyone who would have the tv on all day. Or network tv. Last time I recall that was when I thought fox being on as background news was ok. And at best that was 16 years ago.
As an idea, if functioned as designed. They would be fine. I still wouldn’t watch them all day. Highlights maybe. But didn’t do that.
Documentaries on doping across the board. Countries building one time use facilities. Sponsorships. Competition to host. Harm to the city that does host. Other scandals.
My general lack of sports fever is probably a factor.
I will half ignore the full run of The Office at least ten more times before I watch literally anything else.
@jouest
Been there done that! And then, we watched them again hanging on to each and every word and laughed our butt’s off! Lol…
@Lynnerizer its high art.
Also, hot take: the final seasons are fun and good
Spotify
@Cerridwyn premium or nah?
@jouest premium I am embarrassed to say
@Cerridwyn commercials are for suckers

The TV has not been on in many months.
@werehatrack how do you learn about car insurance and prescription drugs??
@jouest @werehatrack YouTube can cover all your needs.
If we’re lucky, you might even get a Liberty commercial with that one.
(Fwiw, I’ve seen a lot of Liberty on YT, but not a lot of Geico.)
@werehatrack @xobzoo I moonlight in insurance marketing. Geico reeled in 90 percent of their marketing overnight!
@jouest @werehatrack @xobzoo you mean you don’t get to see the Capital One guy sleeping in the bank?

@yakkoTDI I think I’m hip and then someone says something like “a friend’s Plex server” and I don’t even know where to start…

@rockblossom I like most of this but I have one neighbor’s mowing who makes me want to feed him a squirrel
@jouest Or you could shadow his movements along the property line with your flame-throwing robot dog.

@mossygreen Oh, good to know!
@mossygreen am here for it. especially speed racer.
@jouest Midnight Central every weekday if the station is in your area!

I let the TV turn off?

@pakopako DVR hoarding!
Wait. People watched the Olympics? Why?
@unksol

Forensic Files. I will often use it to cure insomnia, but I have had some pretty jacked up dreams to it.
