Small drones are for messing with cats. But flight times have been typically very short. The large drones require room, room that I do not have here inside our home. These things usually don’t work well in any wind or wet. A rare day that is dry, warm, calm, and I don’t already have something better to do. But damn I still want one.
Right click google gives some reviews (walmart) & they aren’t all bad. Even woot has it (for $47.99) but no reviews (does anyone still post there anymore?). It could be that the meh has a typo because all other sites show the flight time is 12-14 minutes. Not that meh is wrong, 2-14 is still in the 0-14 mins range.
I’m on the fence on this one but I got all day as I am doubtful it will sell out. & if it does, my decision is made for me.
@Joedetroit I have various drones from mini drones to to the larger DJI Phantom 4 for professional filming of events and the typical flight time for mini drones I use for indoor recording are more like 5 to 7 minutes nowhere near 12 as reported
@Joedetroit you can have mine. Bought it last time meh featured it and am sorely disappointed - one battery doesn’t charge and the transmitter was broken on arrival. Cheap. I went straight to DJI after this and will never own another offbrand.
Meh you’re killing me slowly. All these drones I might have to start a clone army. Look meh it’s been too many days without a response from the staff. I am determined and now my next mission is a Christmas list, sponsored by meh and presented by everyone who posts on my comment. Without further ado, I present the meh Christmas shopping list:
IRK Plushies, Mehgic 8 Ball (all responses some form of meh.), Squatty Potty (because we don’t have the fukubukuro anymore and our crap needs to go somewhere), AAA batteries, and poop meh emoji pillows.
Flight time their web site says 5-7 minutes of air time, then says up to 12 minutes, product details say 12-14 minutes… undecided on this. Been looking for one with “auto return” since I lost mine…
@gfreek Auto Return/One Key Return is are misnomers, it does not return to a preset point, It rarely works, and in many cases, it will dart in another direction, compounding your problem. The only real Return-To-Home function requires GPS, which is rare in toy-grade drones.
@Rstoker There isn’t a separate power switch on the drone itself. When you pop in the battery and turn on the controller, it /should/ power on the drone a few moments later. (Found that by accident when I popped in the battery with the controller already on, and all the blinkies came to life).
From the main page: Big drone can fly 2-14 minutes on a charge.
That’s a rather big spread, why not just make it 0-14 minutes flight time?
2-14 minutes would be ‘-12’ minutes. Meaning, after trying for 12 minutes you give up?
2-14min on the large one - quite the range of capabilities!
@SkyyPunk
/giphy that’s what she said
My guess is if you are live streaming POV video you get 2 minutes.

Wear the VR headset while the drone flies behind you and you’re now in 3rd person mode IRL
doing math on fingers If I buy this now, it will still be barely within warranty by xmas…
@mamajoan good thinking - that’s a key bit of wisdom for the Xmas shopping season.

So no purple?
Funny, 2-14 minutes is exactly how long it takes me to do something else…
@dcm714 Maybe try some Flomax?
@dcm714
These Meh keep to themselves. They’re
droners. Damned bad ones, too.
@hchavers
Why does the mini drone look like a flying box fan?

Zero reviews on Amazon. I am going to go out on a limb and predict this package is crap.
@ponagathos Nice write-up, tho
My cat said, F U
@Bevvie your cat (& mine) would say F U but then go bonkers chasing the drone. Then the batteries run out & they say WHY IT STOP. Back on a charger!
Your cat is a badass!! @Joedetroit
@Bevvie He sure thinks he is, runs the whole household. Among his minions are two other cats, a pug & a few humans.
What is the difference between batteries not included and sold separately?
-Drone remote batteries: 3x AA (not included)
-Mini drone remote batteries: 4x AAA (sold separately)
@Euniceandrich Only one is an anagram for “Tunic Noddle”

that tiny boxy drone is adorable.
/giphy cute
s/prospective/perspective, in the entire article.

I just bought it. Looking through the downloadable manuals helped me decide… that and it is a good price and… WHAT HAVE I DONE?
Now you’ve got me hyperventilating! I need some bourbon (Hey! ANY excuse for drinking bourbon!)
@Chiron ok now that an hour has passed I will mention that if you go to “your orders” within 1 hour you can cancel any orders.
Where is the power switch on the drone?
@Rstoker There isn’t a separate power switch on the drone itself. When you pop in the battery and turn on the controller, it /should/ power on the drone a few moments later. (Found that by accident when I popped in the battery with the controller already on, and all the blinkies came to life).
The power switch is on top of the drone toward the rear (recessed round button).
Well, the mini-drone busted a prop blade right off on the third flight. Not even a hard landing. Guess I won’t be flying that one again. <sigh>
(What was that about bourbon?)
@arkazae
It looks like it has spare blades, maybe just change it out…?
Looks like I missed the word mini, sorry.
My son’s mini now goes left when throttle is over 1/3 to 1/2. Even giving full right stick isn’t enough…
