OK, I’ll bite. I suggest a prepaid carrier. You have to buy the phone up front, but service is usually much less expensive…get a good case so when you drop it at work it won’t get damaged.
@DrunkCat Also have an S7. It’s probably the best phone I’ve owned. It’s getting a bit slow now, but I haven’t culled unused apps in a long time, so I’m not sure if I should blame that on the phone or not.
@DrunkCat@SenorYEETZ@therealjrn iOS devices are solid devices and iOS is amazing at what it intends to do. It’s a bit too hand-holdy for my tastes. If that isn’t a concern, I really can’t say it’s a waste of money if you can find something in your price range.
The Nokia 6.1 unlocked is on sale at multiple places for $180. Best Buy bundles it with prepaid cards and a SIM kit so you’re ready to go out the door. I got 3 and it holds its own against an S7 at twice the price.
Would recommend. It’s a solid phone to boot (metal frame) with expandable memory or a second SIM. 5ghz wifi, NFC, FM radio with wired headphones, and the latest Android 9 (pie) and no update abandonment like older unlocked carrier phones.
Moto G6 or X4, both around $200, Amazon sells Prime ones that are unlocked… Solid budget phone, not a lot of bloatware, G6 has bigger screen but no NFC. Google them both up, solid reviews, I have a Moto E4 that I love as a cheepie phone.
If you need cheep service then Mint Mobile is great but you need to prepay for the service in 3/6/12 month blocks. The unlimited text/calls with 2GB data is $15/month if paid for in a full year ($180). They are a Tmobile reseller.
Depends on the budget, but if you are looking at the highend “flagship” side of the spectrum, hold off for a bit. The processor line most use had a pretty noticable upgrade Q2 and 3 this year, but most of the big phones don’t use it yet.
I suggest you provide more information, like possibly your carrier, budget, feature requirements etc.

I’m happy with my Samsung S7 but the bloatware seems to be getting worse every version.

@DrunkCat Preach it brother, I have an S8 and that Bixby bitch keeps popping up to “help” me.
@DrunkCat I was thinking of a samsung. I really don’t want to waste money an an I phone even though I have heard they are the best.
@DrunkCat @SenorYEETZ If you aren’t tech savvy, best to stay in the IOS world.

@reg036 Who’s joking?
@Barney to be truly accurate for you though you’d need that cell phone you bought duct taped to one of the tin cans. Right?
@Kidsandliz Nope, this will work.
