@heartbleed I agree with that sentiment, but they are getting harder to avoid, because they keep buying up my favorite brands: I’ve learned to live without Butter Finger candies, Carnation products, etc., but what really torqued me was when I realized my dog food was now made by their companies (Purina products).
Edit: I just did a check and found that the Curtis line of candies, including BF, is no longer owned by Nestle !! Yay! I’ll go buy some soon (when the lines of people buying TP disappear, probably after TP itself disappears from all the stores.) Unless somebody can tell me why I shouldn’t buy from the new owners, Ferrero SpA company (I had already decided I was no longer a fan of Ferrero Rocher candies).
coffee in pods = shit, and they’re incredibly wasteful and expensive. fresh ground, freshly roasted high quality coffee (or even meh quality coffee) is far superior
@robson I recently switched over from a pour-over system where I would grind beans and hand pour the coffee to a nespresso system. This makes excellent coffee (better than what I was doing before), and is used all over Europe where coffee quality is typically better than in the US. I’ll agree that I’ve never had a good cup of coffee from a Keurig, though.
@robson Nespressos make true espresso under pressure at the correct temperature. They are not similar in any way to Keurig. Also, if you buy pods from Nespresso they include a self-sealing bag with a shipping label to return the used pods for recycling. I’m sure this adds a lot to the cost of the pods but if you are concerned about environmental impact it’s worth considering.
I have a nespresso machine and it’s great. I dont have this model though. This one uses the original pods (which is good) and there are several different places besides nespresso (peets, starbucks, etc) that also make pods. Pods are aluminum and can be recycled. This is so much better than Keurig it’s not even funny.
@jmoor783 great news. i’ve been on the fence for a while due to the buy-in price, and never being able to test/sample it anywhere. ~$100 for a quality machine was all i needed.
@jmoor783@outz You will not be disappointed. This is my daily driver. I have used this at work for 2 years. It is great. Feels much more solid than most Nespresso made or other brand machines.
@Dizavid@MarkErick I had a Breville and i did not like it. I think the Nespresso is better. I grind my own coffee and use My-Cap vpak to reuse capsules. It won’t work with Breville. I get my coffee on eBay, New Mexico Pinon Coffee. I also like my coffee strong so i put a little cayenne in it along with a teaspoon of Nesquik chocolate flavor.
This may be better than Keureg but that’s not saying much imo. I have a dozen or so varieties of Keureg coffee available to me for free at work and none is good. Too bad they are so convenient.
@rustyh3@Stumpy91 nespresso pods run about $.70 per pod on the nespresso website, but you get a “free” gift by ordering 10 sleeves (gift is a 2 cups and saucer set with another 10 pods), plus theres a lot of occasional coupons for $10 off an order of $50 or more. Pods with discounts like this run about $.55 per pod. I’ve gotten peets pods on sale at costco before for $.37 per pod, and costco also sometimes sells starbucks pods for about $.50.
Just Delivered - brand new in the box, and it did come with 14 pod “Sampler”. Considering this was over $400 new - the $200 is a close out price, its a winner for me!
pouring hot water through fresh-ground decent quality coffee while holding it in my bare hand produces better tasing coffee and less pain than any pod system.
My wife and I call people with pod coffee machines “Pod People”
I don’t drink coffee, but everyone in my family does. They all have one of these and love it. The pods are what everyone has in their Christmas stockings!
I remember someone got one of these in the IRK. Curiosity killed the KNmeh7, so I had to google. This is strictly their “nespresso” model. (I know, no shit Sherlock.) They have a verturo machine that can actually make cups of coffee.
Probably why meh got these at a deal they are selling them. If you really want espresso, go to a cafe. It is perhaps what they do best. Pour over/french press coffee? You can do that at home. Espresso? Shell out for the stuff that uses the right machine. This isn’t it.
@billongings wow i got mine today as well - i live in SC. this was literally the fastest shipping from meh ever. thanks a ton! the flavor of the coffee is amazing as well. bye kcups!
I don’t do Nespresso on the grounds that Nestle is a scummy company and I would like to avoid it whenever I can.
@heartbleed while I realize you are serious, I also saw what you did there.

@heartbleed @phendrick Butterfingers is a new recipe now… It’s not the same.
Caffeine causes bowel movements. Perfect timing Meh, better than usual.
@hchavers ah the perfect machine to assist with using all the toilet paper you panic purchased for covid-19 scare

Should have been yesterday. Coffee and pie!
Looks like a Dalek mated with a slot machine, if you ask me.

@jmoor783 1000% True. No home made quick coffee stands much of a chance against Nespresso.

For this price you can just get a superior version of the same thing courtesy of Breville.
@Dizavid Where?
@Dizavid @MarkErick

@Staron8 Does that make the coffee stronger or just a different drink?
@MarkErick Here’s a great example. https://slickdeals.net/share/android_app/fp/508402
Expired for now, but there are sales like this often.
Fucking pods. I quit drinking coffee at work because of these fucking things. I am not buying something designed to use them.
@Seeds

@Stumpy91 This is for espresso not “coffee”. There is a difference.
@rustyh3 yeah, I’d probably really enjoy it as I like espresso and strong coffee in general. The wife, not so much. How much do Nespresso pods cost?
@rustyh3 @Stumpy91 nespresso pods run about $.70 per pod on the nespresso website, but you get a “free” gift by ordering 10 sleeves (gift is a 2 cups and saucer set with another 10 pods), plus theres a lot of occasional coupons for $10 off an order of $50 or more. @virtualmorris You hold the fresh-ground coffee in your bare hand while pouring hot water through it? Ouch!!!
@Kyeh @virtualmorris it’s better tasing, bro!
Nespresso is great, don’t judge it by crappy Keurig pods.
I’m too much of a coffee snob to actually buy one of these, but they do make a decent drink.
I don’t drink coffee, but everyone in my family does. They all have one of these and love it. The pods are what everyone has in their Christmas stockings!

I wouldn’t buy this model because it doesn’t come with the Frother and no pod samplers!

any chance of getting this before they shutdown the mail service?
@outz Mine is “Out for Delivery” right now - but I do live in Dallas, so its not exactly a stretch to get here.
