Long, layered, some wavy, some curly, some fuzzy, some dark, some gray, thinning, straightening. Not what it used to be but still pretty good, all things considered.
MY HAIR IS FALLING OUT DUE TO A PLOT OF THE DEEP STATE!!! THEY TOOK THE GAY BOMB AND MUTATED IT WITH DELOUSING POWDER FROM WWII BUT I’M FINE BECAUSE I DRANK MY CHOCOLATE CHICKEN MILKSHAKE!!! LOOK AT HOW MUCH WEIGHT I HAVE LOST!!!
@BigMarty45s@lseeber Not sure if my parents saw the original production, but the cast album was played often in our house. Grew up with that groovy music
@BigMarty45s@compunaut Never went to the production and when the song first hit… most of us didn’t actually care for it that much but it sure was a catchy tune and lyrics and we sang it anyway.
My hair is ugh. Cowlicks all around. If it is short, even buzzed, you see 'em. But by the time it is long enough for gravity to outweigh them, it starts to curl and look like a wild mess. And not in the sexy way. If I try product, it takes so much, I look like a used car salesman, or a scummy lawyer. One plaid suit, that’s all it’d take.
It all depends on the day - sometimes it’s straight, sometimes it’s curly. these days, with this nasty humid hot weather it’s mostly just frizzy and sweaty.
Way too damn long. My hair stylist retired last year. I’ve had it cut once in the past 9 months. I have longish hair, so I can get away with it, but it’s too unruly in this heat. I am always afraid of a bad haircut. Someday it will get to be to much and I’ll break down and do something about it.
Whatever isn’t gone forever is buzzed. The minute it gets long enough that I have to pay attention to it, out come the clippers and it all goes back down to stubble. I’ve embraced my baldery.
About eight inches below my waist and lives in a braid or a bun on the top of my head. Too long to waste time styling, even though it’s fine hair, it’s heavy enough to not hold a curl.
@compunaut The only thing that’s not boring about it now are the bangs I’m growing out. They aren’t long enough yet to put back, I use clips or bobby pins, but they escape and here I sit, blowing hair out of my face.
Yeah, I’m cranky, this heat does. not. help. me love my hair. Some day I’ll cut it. Some day.
@PocketBrain I’ve thought about donating in the past. And after reading up on Locks of Love, they sound pretty sketchy, even with good hair. They get more donations than they need, throw a good portion of it away.
And they don’t use grey hair, because kids hair pieces.
@lisaviolet interesting about Pantene. Makes sense about the synthetic wigs. There’s always places where you could sell your hair, and then maybe donate the proceeds? I totally understand about not wanting to cut a big chunk off. I’ve done it twice now. Earlier when I was fairly young I had it about mid back, and I cut it to my chin. And then as an adult I made the mistake of having mid thigh length hair and cutting it all the way to my chin. I made a couple of other cuts in between there, some more than a foot. Every single time I’ve regretted it. I just like having long hair. No matter how much people love me with short hair, I miss the long.
@RiotDemon I hear that. I’ll probably have four to six inches cut off soon, just to make it a little happier. I have a creaclip (they have cheaper knock offs now) and my husband cuts my hair.
@mossygreen there’s so many factors to long hair. Firstly it’s genetics, some people just can’t grow long hair. Could be health or diet related. Could be styling related. I don’t blow dry my hair, brush it when wet, bleach it, etc.
I couldn’t remember the scientific words for how hair grows and while I was looking it up I found this rather odd note in an article:
By the way, while men tend to prefer women with long hair (ever see a painting of Eve with a buzz cut?), women, especially as they age, seem to prefer wearing shorter hair. After all, long hair on a mature, sophisticated woman can seem about as appropriate as shoveling soup with your fingers.
Wtf? When I grow old, I’m gonna wear long hair and eat soup with my fingers, lol
@mossygreen@RiotDemon My cousin (maybe 60yo?) has long, gray hair about to the middle of her back; enough for a thick, healthy braid. I think it looks fabulous, but it is a bit unusual to see gray hair that long.
@mossygreen@RiotDemon When I was younger I had so much fun with my hair. Lots of heat styling, permanents, blonde blonde streaks…but I knew one day I wouldn’t need the streaks, nature would take care of that (I started getting small amounts of white hair when I was a teenager) and I just started not cutting it.
Like @RiotDemon, no heat styling, no blow drying, no vigorous towel drying, I mostly let it air dry. When it’s dry enough, then I’ll comb it out, it can take a while. I use a wide tooth comb. I do have one of those brushes meh had a few months ago, those things are great. But not everybody can just let the hair air dry. Not everybody can show up with wet hair piled on top of their heads.
We do a fairly good job of keeping it trimmed, so the bottom doesn’t get badly thinned out. With menopause, I think my hair changed, got stronger or something and I’m pretty sure if I cut it back twenty inches or so, I’d see some pretty bouncy hair, unlike what I had before Aunt Flo went on her bitchy way.
I also have five whiskers on my chin I have to pluck every few weeks and my eyebrows look like Andy Rooney’s or Larry Hagman’s if I don’t trim those.
I always said I was going to cut my hair short and go red. Then I got pissed off at my husband for cutting it too short (before the Creaclip) and to show his ass, I went red. He hates red hair. Yeah, I’m a little spiteful. And it usually comes back to bite me in the ass.
Never again. Just never. again. Even though I’m half Irish, red is not my color. It was a temp color and I spent days washing washing washing it, finally got some stuff called “oops” (I’m pretty sure) to get the color out. And I wore a hat at all times.
Now, it’s natural. Light brown/blonde with lots of white. It looks pretty cool when it’s braided.
@compunaut I don’t understand why most people think you have to have short hair when old. My hair long is easier to take care of than when it was short. The old ladies go every month to get their hair cut/dyed/styled whatever.
Long, layered, some wavy, some curly, some fuzzy, some dark, some gray, thinning, straightening. Not what it used to be but still pretty good, all things considered.
@katbyter this would be exactly my write-up, except it didn’t start off all that good either.
Short. And shaggy. And pink. And a bit grey. And also awesome.
Washed and then left alone.
@jst1ofknd That is how I do mine too.
@AlexJones Too soon
Thin and fine and going. Also a beautiful chocolaty brown.
Wavy and fabtabulous!
Ignored to the maximum extent possible.
Undercut: long-ish on top, very short sides and back.
A giant wavy afro that doubles the size of my head.
… growing out of all the wrong places!
long, straight, curly, fuzzy, snaggy, shaggy
Ratty, matty, oily, greasy, fleecy, shining, gleaming
Streaming, flaxen, waxen, knotted, polka dotted
Twisted, beaded, braided, powdered, flowered and confettied
Bangled, tangled, spangled and spaghettied
@BigMarty45s I knew if I scrolled far enough, I’d find this.
@BigMarty45s lol… exactly what I was looking for and if I didn’t find it, was gonna post it. Our age is showing!
@BigMarty45s That said, you must post a picture…

@simplersimon Sounds like what you need is a flat iron!
@simplersimon But, do you have a porn stache?
@TheCO2 I did in my last year of college. Now it is more “Sam Elliot wanna-be”
@LaVikinga nah. The result is more “old man trying to be surfer bro” than the Elliot Spencer look I wish it was.

Once upon a time it was a big round floppy bunch of curls.
Now what little is left is buzzed.
Very long, layered, straight with some waves, grown-out bangs, dark brown with a couple of silver. Wash and wear!!
Wavy

Boring hair. I have boring hair.
@lisaviolet Perhaps you’re holding it back
It’s impossible for hair that long to be boring

@lisaviolet Locks of Love!!!

But I like the idea.
@lisaviolet @PocketBrain there are many organizations way better than locks of love.
Wigs for kids being one. Even the Pantene brand one is better.
@PocketBrain @RiotDemon
Well, when I cut it off, it will be a little at a time, I’m not going to chop it all off at the same time. Need time to adjust, yanno?
I just checked the Pantene beautiful lengths page. They’re not accepting after the end of the year.

@lisaviolet saving on hair cuts!
@lisaviolet @RiotDemon It’s amazing that your hair grows that long. Mine breaks mid-back, won’t ever grow longer.

@lisaviolet I’m lucky that once my hair dries, it’s easy to brush. Ridiculously easy.
Short and straight. This also happens to be my height and sexual orientation. Come and get me ladies.
Stick straight and baby fine, perfectly described by the line from The Mighty Boosh, “Can’t even feel it. It’s like brown smoke.”
