I carry an Osprey Tropos backpack. Due to my line of work, I have to take my laptop home with me, so it’s just easier. And I can have my emergency kit of: contact lens solution, glasses, tummy pills, advil, deodorant, charging cables, different cable converters, plugs, travel battery, notepads, pens, Kleenex, etc. Along with a laptop pouch.
It’s my carry on for traveling as well. I hate the 1 huge pocket for everything backpacks because I mess it all up digging around trying to find what I’m looking for. This bag has pockets, and pouches within pockets to properly organize. With quick grab outer pockets, etc. It has a frame and a “kickstand” so I can set it down and it stands up instead of falling over. Also has a mesh back, which is nice when running through airports. It allows your back to breath.
Old cheap Wal-mart bright yellow EastSport backpack that makes the trip back and forth from home to the hospital 7on/7off for the past 10+ years. In it are:
assorted meds like ibuprofen, tums, cough syrup etc.
extra name badge
bottle of ‘elmers’ glue (used to make scratch pads from extra clean sheets of paper that we would normally shred)
Roll of quarters in an old ‘mini M&Ms’ style container ($10)
Assorted battery packs, cables and phone chargers to fit virtually every type phone imaginable including these from meh but not my Tzumi pack.
box of flavor packets for water
reusable water container
any extra stuff like a tablet etc if I am planning to work extra and may have some down time. (Rarely get to use that stuff though!)
Most of that stuff is used for other employees’ or patients’
needs except the stethoscope, flavor packs and name badge. The quarters are in case I need cash for an emergency, to give to people to purchase snacks/food from the vending machine etc.
I had been known to take everything out of it and use it for trips before I bought this … from meh as well.
