@mollama - My mother kind of liked Bridge Over the River Kwai, although it was all bullshit. However if your mom doesn’t like movies with Alec Guinness in them that would be out anyway. Maybe the latest Hellboy? That doesn’t have Alec Guiness in it.
Do not believe her when she says she doesn’t want/need anything- just a card will be fine. Do not buy her a gift Sunday morning at the hardware store [Dad!]. Make sure she has a nice dress for when they ask all the Moms to stand at church.
My mother died in 1992, so I can honor her memory. My wife’s mother just turned 100, and I’m sure we willdo something.
My wife has always said I don’t have to do anything for her as she is not my mother (which is good, or it would be too weird). I’m sure our son will do something from the other coast where he lives.
@andyw She might not be your mother, but she is the mother of your children. For that you should honor her in a special way on Mother’s Day. It’s not weird to show her how much you appreciate her for being a wonderful mother to your children. Show her gratitude for carrying, birthing, and mothering your children. That’s what Mother’s Day is about.
@Gypsigirl213 I understand and agree with those thoughts, but she really does not want me to do anything. Our anniversary is always close and her birthday is not far off so she is happy with those days and their meaning.
PS-I don’t expect anything on Father’s Day, either, but I do like a chocolate cake on my birthday!

clean the house, get the guest room set up, plan a meal, go grocery shopping and plan activities for when my kids show up. Mother’s Day is more of a hassle for some of us than it is a celebration.

Already got my mom a gift. Her birthday is a few days before mother’s day, though so I should probably get another one…
I am blessed with two wonderful sons and their families who acknowledge me and keep me in their lives. It means everything. Thanks sons.
