Morning Save Mystery Box reveal thread
32I was really surprised of the light turn out this morning. I got there about 9:40am and only about 12 people or so in line waiting for the store to open. I met @bluebeatpete in line. It was nice to meet a fellow mehtizen IRL. Tomorrow and Sunday might be different. So still plan to get there early. And it’s the first 50 customers that make a purchase, not the first 50 that are in the door.
The store is very spacious. Lots of room for more inventory once this social distancing thing becomes a thing of the past. There’s Stroopwaffels! Also Frootkits in case you ever wanted to try them but didn’t want to buy a whole bunch of them. I did buy some things, of course… A new squirrel proof bird feeder, (we shall see, the neighborhood squirrels are quite savvy) some kitchen stuff and stuff for gifts. Also scored a Mediocritee shirt for my “I’m from the forum” prize.

Oh my gosh, what an adventure! I went back to MorningSave this morning at 9:15, only to find no one in line yet. I sat in my car for a long time before I made my up to the door. An awesome employee saw my Meh Kickstarter shirt and promptly offered me bottled water while I waited. By the time the doors opened at 10:00 there were about 20 people outside, but none seemed to my Meh peeps.
Since I had shopped there the night before, I quickly grabbed some more Frookits, plus stroopwafels and cookies. The first mystery box they handed me felt awfully light, so I asked for a heavier one. I got a box that was bigger, but didn’t weigh a whole lot more than the first one.
I then left and did some more shopping in the center. While browsing Tuesday Morning, I decided that I needed to go back and treat myself to the Kate Spade sunglasses. So glad I did, because this is when the real fun started.
Since most of the original crowd was gone, I had time to meet the employees and introduce myself. They helped me pick out my sunglasses and gave me some more Meh swag, even though I’d scored the hoodie the night before.
While talking to @mandirose and @middlemanager, (hope I got that name right), they decided that I needed a little something special for wearing my Kickstarter shirt with Irk birthday pin. I closed my eyes, and when I opened them, @middlemanager was handing me a Quip toothbrush! My first response was “Am I going to get arrested?” Turns out Snapster has decided to throw caution to the wind, and they will start selling Quips in the store very soon. Stay tuned for more legal drama!
I talked to a few more employees on the way out, but didn’t catch their names (sorry guys – it was great talking to you!)

Ha! I had asked for a heavier box because I was afraid that the lighter one would contain sheets. So of course, this one had sheets as well. Well, sheeeeet.
But wait, what’s in the envelope at the bottom of the box?
A thank you card! How sweet, I wonder if it’s signed by Snapster, or contains a coupon? No, but it was so much better!
Holy Hell, this was unexpected! This really made my day, and almost covered half of what I spent in the store during my 3 visits.

@Trillian I can’t believe you got one of the boxes with the thank you cards! Only a very select few boxes had those each day (to anyone coming tomorrow, there will still be 50 mystery boxes for the first 50 customers but we open at 11am tomorrow not 10am) It was great to meet you!

@tinamarie1974 The tornado that they keep showing on the national news started spinning up about 5 miles from me. It headed east of town and then north. I was mowing and working in the yard when our tornado siren went off. I had no idea that I could still move as fast as I did.

@Trillian Those candles alone are worth standing in line. I was gifted a pair over ten years ago and they’re still going strong. Thank goodness Costco carries D cell batteries at a reasonable price.
It makes me feel all happy inside to know even the store is staffed with fun people who “get it.”

@Trillian There is someone who got a zillion of those Quip commemorative coins in an irk not so long ago. You need one of those to go with your toothbrush. Maybe they will send you one.

I showed up around 8:15 and there was no line at all! Chatted with @ironcheftoni while waiting. Very surprised that most people in line were there because they knew Morning Save or lived in the neighborhood.
The store is a neat concept with lots of stuff you see on Morning Save. Great prices and tons of impulse buy items. There’s a few mediocritee shirts available too.
Got me a knock-off Sonicare, because mine broke. The premium price of sonicare apparently doesn’t reflect the quality. Also got some RGB led strip that I will try to make work in my kid’s computer.
It was great to see @ChadP and other meh employees. They all recognized my OG Fukubukuro shirt.

This almost makes me want to get out the door at 4AM and head for Plano tomorrow too-bloody-early-morning. Almost. Not quite. OTOH, I could stop at the Russell Stover store in Ennis on the way back, and hit the Half Price Books mothership-monster in Dallas, and grab my favorite lunch (half a dozen In-n-out burger patties, just the meat with grilled onions, inna box)…

@werehatrack I so miss living 5 miles from a Russell Stover outlet store. Locally they only sell chocolate bunnies at easter now. Gone are the santas, gone are the Valentine hearts… very sad.
If you do this maybe you will get $50 too which will pay for the gas and all the other things you would do/buy.

I used to live in TX, but even then not close enough to make it to the MorningSave store. Congrats to the Meh employees and thanks to the lucky few forumers who are close enough to shop and share the experience with us.

I was stuck with work and yardwork on Friday/Saturday, but was able to make it out for the Sunday opening.
I trekked out to Plano and was not disappointed! When checking out, I heard “he gets a red bag” which I figured was due to my choice of t-shirt. It could either have been a good or a bad development, and it turned out in my favor.
I was lucky enough to meet @middlemanager in person, and got some meh goodies to go along with my purchases.

And for one last piece of excellence, I was given my very own Quip toothbrush!!! I can’t say how happy I am - I missed out on the initial chance to buy one, but received a challenge coin in an IRK many months ago. The coin shines a little brighter now that it’s matched with a Quip of its own.
I wonder if people that aren’t meh people are shopping there and getting irks? They must be like “what the fuck?” Or think they get a random box every time they purchase something.
Very cool stuff you guys are getting. Wish it was more local to Michigan and I would totally had visited.
So I finally made it in today. I spent about $100. The first person I asked about VMP had no clue what I was talking about but the assistant manager came over and clarified that for this grand opening week I would get 20% off my purchases. I was able to see a lot of items that I wondered about like the Helps tea and the infamous stroopwaffles (which I finally bought and now I understand the hype!). There are so many Cuisinart items. I love that brand.
The associates were extremely nice and helpful at the location I visited (Plano). I will definitely return. I didn’t get an IRK box but I did get a Morning save reusable bag, a Meh beanie, a Quip toothbrush, and a Meh sweatshirt free with my purchase so I was happy with that!
Seems like a bad idea to shop somewhere you may run into other forum mehmbers IRL.
Wow I had no idea this was a new store. I think I’m going to be in trouble now because one of the stores is close to my job. Was there an official email announcement sent out to VMPs at the very least? I will have to check it out!
So other than not being recommended for masturbation,Google has nothing to say about any legal issues regarding this product. Am I missing a cute joke here,or what? Please enlighten me.Thanks
