I have multiple power chargers, but I couldn’t tell you where one is right now and I’ve never used any, so even though this is $5, I should probably pass. But I did just get a new phone and it is usb-c and in 9 days I get my 2nd shot and then a couple weeks later I’ll be free to travel around…hmmm.
@Tadlem43 Note this is USB-C only, though you can spend more bucks and futz around with adapters. I almost bought one except I’d want one with a USB-A port to use my older cables. I still use a micro-B phone. I think you are better off with the 10,000mah version that has both kinds of ports and is not that much bigger. I have two of those and like them.
@RedOak Well, it’s a prepper box, so I buy extra things to keep in case they’re needed. This wouldn’t be my ‘go to’ charger. It’s cheap enough, so…
I look for inexpensive things that I might need just in case.
@awk They used to–phones had batteries that you could just swap out. Then Steve Jobs sealed the iphone battery into the phone so he could sell you a new phone when the old one’s battery wore out, and the whole power bank industry took off from there.
I don’t mind these mophie events because I actually am a powerbank junkie, but that’s just me.
@awk Huh? Was there ever an iPhone model that had a user swappable battery? My Samsung Note 2, Note 3, and Note 4 did but even Samsung stopped at Note 5 and beyond.
As far as I remember, Apple never had a user swappable battery where you could go to the Apple store and buy a spare so if your battery ran out, you could just pop in a new one and keep going. Since the very beginning, you had to use a special pentaloupe screw driver to take off the screen to get inside until they began gluing the screen on.
My phone believes that any charger that supports USB-PD is a fast charger. I bought one of these in a previous sale and it is charging my phone right now.
The screen shot says “65% • Charging rapidly (37 min until full)”. That is less than 1% per minute, so close to two hours for a full charge.
My phone charges much faster on a USB-PD charger that can do 9v at 2 amps.
Almost exactly the same size and weight as my phone, which also has a 4000 mAh battery… Sure, why not. Certainly more convenient than my other bigger power banks.
USB-c input and output, passthrough charging… How about a big stack of these daisy-chained with one charger? How many can I connect before the whole thing bursts into flames?
Press the power indicator button to check the charging status and battery levels
Digital power management system uses smart charging circuitry to communicate with each device and deliver the fastest charging speeds possible without sacrificing safety
12W fast-charging output to charge smartphones or tablets via USB-C
Priority + pass-through charging allows you to connect the powerstation battery to a wall adapter in the evening and pass-through charging will send power to a connected device first, then recharges the powerstation battery so both are fully charged when you wake up

@jasonsdavis34@Kyser_Soze tbh i’d rather be collecting ALL our stimuluses and answering your question, but now all I can think about is how you should GIMME UR STIMMY
It’s not useless, you’ll just need a USB-C to [whatever your iphone charging port uses] adapter.
Like this one. Or (if you want more ports) this one.
Can I have ur stimmy now ;-; California unemployment won’t pay out (BIG surprise). ʅ(́◡◝)ʃ
“Provides up to 15 total hours of extra battery” almost seems like a misprint, considering most phones nowadays have smaller batteries that last all day, or even two.
This is probably a great price for something I have absolutely no use for.
@opivp99 You don’t have a wobbly table leg this could slide under?
Can someone investigate the relationship from the meh buyer to the mophie seller?
Cause there is a total Romeo & Juliet thing going on here.
The stack of USB battery banks in our home is already a fire hazard.
Sigh
@mcemanuel Least it’s cheap. But yeah. I’d rather buy another speaker dock.
@mcemanuel @stinks preferably with a knife attachment. What happened to Knife Meh anyway?
I mean… $5? I don’t need this. But… $5!

No. We don’t.
Charge me up!
Funny - I was just wishing today I had more of these - and BAM here they are. They work, they are small, they are CONVENIENT.
Because all the power banks I already have in every room isn’t enough,

I don’t wake up with anything under 10,000.
@bugger That’s what she said.
@bugger @yakkoTDI yeah baby!
To go in my prepper box. Cheap enough, so I’m in for two.
@Tadlem43 except 4,000 mAh is too tiny for that use case.
@Tadlem43 Note this is USB-C only, though you can spend more bucks and futz around with adapters. I almost bought one except I’d want one with a USB-A port to use my older cables. @phr It’ll work on my Samsung phone and I wouldn’t use it for regular charging. That’s why it will go in my prepper box.
@RedOak Well, it’s a prepper box, so I buy extra things to keep in case they’re needed. This wouldn’t be my ‘go to’ charger. It’s cheap enough, so…

Prepper, preppy, pepper… maybe they can can fit in the box!
@mcemanuel That’s what I got them for. (see above)
Why don’t phone manufacturers just build power banks directly into phones?
@awk You mean, kinda like a battery?
@awk They used to–phones had batteries that you could just swap out. Then Steve Jobs sealed the iphone battery into the phone so he could sell you a new phone when the old one’s battery wore out, and the whole power bank industry took off from there.

@awk @cengland0 The glue made all the difference in the world.
Well, kind of limited. But still in for $5

Last month Meh had perhaps the best last picture ever, but now sank to a new low. Meh, you are banned from Photoshop!

Good in a pinch.

FYI: The one I had was not this exact model, but was the same brand.
I had one of these and after about 6 months of use the battery in my phone started swelling .
Threw the Mophie in the trash and never used another one.
@mikaels i mean… This thing didn’t swell your battery
@mikaels Sounds like you might be blaming the band-aid for allowing your dog to bleed to death
“Provides up to 15 total hours of extra battery” almost seems like a misprint, considering most phones nowadays have smaller batteries that last all day, or even two.
the best power bank i bought on Meh is the ZipKord RockZ. built in usb-c cable and flip out AC charge plug
@username The flipout charge plug would be nice…I like this Mophies but that plug would be nice on em
Doesn’t work on my iPhone. I guess i should have known better. Meh.
@case2727 iPhone = Lightning port. This device is USB-C.
I admit, I thought it would come with a cable to let me charge the device itself… off to Amazon to buy some USB cables!
