Yesterday I was joking with my kids that I was going to drop a new single called “I gotta land line” under the name Lil’ Talent. Now I see an ad about land lines… are you spying on me?
@ThomasF This. Companies using marketing data for predictive purposes has been under development since 2012 at the least. At this point it doesn’t surprise me that they can predict more than just pregnancy.
Yeah, not sure what they’re trying to imply, but I got this beauty of an advertisement directed at me all day. I even clicked on it to see if it was real (IT WAS)
@djslack@tohar1@ThomasF
I don’t watch Hallmark movies either. No one should watch Hallmark movies.
Wait… I feel like if elevators played movies, that’s where they would be shown more than anywhere else.
What’s really weird is when stuff I look at shows up as Google or FB ads on my wifes phone. I mean I guess not that weird since we share wifi and all, but still…makes me uncomfortable.
Nah, that’s Google and Apple providing it to targeted ad agencies.

@DrunkCat In 2000 actually. Google’s keyword targeted marketing program goes back a long, long way.
It’s Google that is spying on you. Mediocre is simply the vessel for delivering Google’s manipulation.

@tohar1 I GOT THAT AD TOO!!! why??? Why…
@LemonTheCat @tohar1 It’s because we keep selling socks, I bet.
@LemonTheCat @tohar1 I also have been getting that ad (not just on Meh), and I don’t watch Hallmark movies that I know of.

@MrMark Some target the ads from the IP address.
My new phone has the ability to just analyze songs playing around me and show what they are from the lock screen.
In other words, enabling this feature gives Google permission to actively open the mic all the time. Creepy.
