One day I'm going to make a couple of shirts like this. The back will have the meme, the front will have either dork, nerd or geek. I will give one to my best friend who is a dork. And I will wear one that says "geek".
@lisaviolet@cengland0 meh. While I might generally sort of almost agree with the stratification (at least from a narrow angle) and with the obvious fact that the words have different nuances, I don't agree with the specific definitions or the rigidity of meaning implied therein or the focus on "stuff." And, most especially, I find the classism--even the strict categorization per se--loathsome.
Reminds me of these guys:
In any case, I'm not so cool as to disavow my dorkiness, even though my qualifications as nerd and geek (at least within particular domains) are attested. Dorks are characterized by a certain silliness (so adjudged by the one who sets himself up as a non-dork) and social awkwardness, characteristics that I find abundantly present in the geeks and nerds that I know, maybe most of all in the ones who go out of their way to set themselves above the common dork. ;-p
But, yaknow, I like you guys, so I can forgive it. :-D
lonesome-evil-steel! How appropriate as I am in the steel business, the family is all away so I am lonesome and to keep from doing something evil I am here on meh.com as I have been for most of the last year. Here's to more meh!
at first I was bummed out when I saw they were sold out. but then I considered that I have never once clicked on "meh" to see the face, it would be silly of me to buy a shirt made of the faces. so, I think it's for the best.
So, I took a look at my shirt and the image is printed much lower than it shows in the pic. It's really more on my belly than chest. Will take a pic when I have a chance. Anyone else experiencing this?
Mine also has the terrible smell others are reporting. I'll try to illustrate that in the pic as well.
@DaveInSoCal It did seem lower to me as well. Also mine seemed to be slightly rotated. As in if you start at a a row of faces and go straight across by the time you get across the face you will be almost to the middle of the next row. Of course the smell.
I think this will be relegated to a yard work shirt from the beginning. Which is still not too bad for the price.
@DaveInSoCal@MrMark@cinoclav we reached out to our shirt printers and as far as the smells goes it's related to a new solution used during the curing process that has a bit of a stronger smell. Once you wash your shirt it'll go away.
It's weird, I noticed the smell but it just smelled like "new shirt smell" to me and I kinda liked it. Like many of you, I was also too excited to wear it to wash it first.
@dave Just measured mine. The print starts about 3 1/2" below the ribbing (where the ribbing meets the main body of the shirt.) Sounds like whomever is doing your printing has some quality control issues. Perhaps the future holds your own press? If there are many more shirts to be had I'd imagine it would be more cost effective. Then again, I know squat about the actual cost in printing a t-shirt.
@DaveInSoCal My two start at 3.25 and about 3" below the neck cuff but since they're both 2XL, it doesn't seem to be too low. They both have that smell but it is rather faint; they'll get washed before wearing. Both seem to be printed straight
@dmlivezey The women's are sized a little smaller. We figured out at one point (the Day 0 shirts) that their men's XL fits her well--and she makes her own boobage space and, yaknow, just looks good in whatever.
Happy birthday meh. Where is the youth/baby sizes? I'd love a short sleeve 9 months! ;) I'd dress my son up in it ;) I think you're missing out on a whole other market! PS I'd love tall sizes too. wish we were getting a podcast today.... Damn cancellations.
What? How'd I miss this after only 2 hours? Oh yeah, daughter got lice from a friend...decontamination mode and suddenly THREE HOURS are GONE, now I'm crabby x2 and will cancel my VMP since we've not gotten anything like socks lately; then I miss this? Nah, I'm done until the next real deal strikes. What am I saying, I won't cancel my VMP, I can't do that, it'd be like cutting off my own little, useless, gets pinched in my shoes, toe.
@RedOak The cheapest shirts? - thrift stores. I regularly buy "rag bags" at one of my local stores because at $2 or less, it can be cheaper than paper towels. They're just the unsold shirts off the racks, and I get at least a dozen in each bag. I even end up with woot shirts in there from time to time; found two DTG mutants just last week.
Happy Birthday Meh! We share an hour of the same b-day! I'm with @mcoffer, sad to miss out on the shirt. Years ago I was conditioned for the midnight Woot check. Now I'm totally spoiled by Meh at 11 (which I love by the way). Put me in a different time zone for a few days & I miss a really good one (first my birthday gets hijacked by something for my daughter & then this... terrible first world problems). So...if someone has a spare men's medium or women's XL ;)
@cengland0 Downvote for a difference of opinion? Is this reddit?
I don't need another t-shirt, so any price is too much. I'm not going to hoard t-shirts with a design that I don't care for just because the company selling them is taking a loss on them. That reasoning is just...weird.
@Mac454 Ah, but you specifically stated that $5 was too much for this shirt so it led me to believe it was price related and not that you already had too many shirts. As it turns out, many people thought $5 was a good price for this shirt -- so many people that it sold out.
I wouldn't have even made a comment on your post if you said you weren't interested because you had too many shirts already or that you didn't want to wear a shirt that had a brand visible.
@eeterrific It must be really tough to not do any advertising for any companies. Do you peel the emblem of your car? Scratch out the decal of your bike. Cover up the brand on sunglasses? Bring your own cup to restaurants?
Its $5.00 for a t-shirt, even if you use it to only work around the house it's a pretty good deal.
@narfcake I don't wear the just "meh" shirts out in public much - but the Erlenmeyer flask mediocre labs - it gets plenty of wear time. And lots of comments, many people want to know 1. What is that thing on your shirt? and 2. What band/tv show/whatever is it for?
So meh - how bout some more o' thems flask type shirts?
I'm sure this has been commented on but I'm too lazy to read though every post ... ok, so why the hell don't apparel companies just MAKE THE SIZE FUCKING FIT?!?!? ... "Sizing runs on the small side, so size up if you're not used to American Apparel sizing" or "Women's sizes are especially small" ... really?? OMG, make the size fit you assholes. (ok, ok, sorry for the vulgar language. No, no, really, i'm sorry. but still, just make the damn size you claim it to be. it's not brain surgery)
@twz Sizes use to be pretty similar until folks got butthurt that they needed something "larger" so companies wise to the idea started vanity sizing all their offerings. My tshirts from the 80's and early 90's are sized inline (width wise) with current AA and other "slim fit" shirts; newer shirts from other brands, not so much.
I ordered women's XL thinking it would be too big and instead it's weirdly tight. It fits like most mediums do on me. I can wear them but.....not what I was hoping for and may never wear it any where :-(
El teeshirto has arrived! Yes, slightly stinky not at the level of a tuna sandwich more like a motor oily fish stench wafting across the other side of the bay. Print seems appropriate to me, about 3 inches from ribbed neck and centered properly left to right. Which doesn't matter as I'm wearing it to bed. Perhaps for the next AA Meh shirt I shall buy a normal size and contemplate wearing it out of doors!
@GTF So do you know of any other good USA made shirts that have good availability for the imprint industry, then?
AA isn't perfect, but as you noted, ex-CEO. If it's clingy, size up. And yeah, they're thinner, but it's because it's not chock full of impurities that make the cheap thick cotton shirts feel like sandpaper.
@RedHot from the same clothing company an XL should have the same shoulders and length as an L chess with a larger stomach area. More length & shoulder girth comes @ XXL. Talk to someone at the clothing store. I asked for an XL once and the girl asked: why XL? Your not fat. Ive never worn XL since.
Dammit!! I had to meh out because my card got hacked and I was forced to get a new C.C. and the damn thing hasn't come in yet.. I do wish meh would go pay pal as an alternative.. it would make things so much easier and I wouldn't have to bail out on a sure to be collectors item. Waahh!
@Thumperchick ... I think I'm the only smuck with a credit rating of -0.10.. I should have said my debit card.. I haven't used credit since 1986, right after I realized how much interest I was accruing on both my MC and gas card.. NOW their trying to disallow cash.. soon debit and then where will I be? Oh well, at least I don't have to pay a three year minimum charge for that dinner and movie I debited last month (oh, thanks for the advice anyway).
@unkabob Don't know where you're located but if you have a TD Bank near you, open an account with them. I'm sure other banks do it, but TD will print you a new debit card on the spot and allow you to pick your pin. Truly a convenient service.
@Willijs3 I knew this would happen one day. I was here at lift off for the shirts but…. I for some reason was logged out and then I was stopped by the robot verification. I could not figure out how to tell you all “I was not a robot” I tried 3 times and then I still could not do it. I don’t know what I was supposed to find to prove it. A check box? A question? I didn’t find it at all on my iPhone 6plus phone with voice over. Alas no shirt for me. Bummer. Bottom line what is the answer to the problem? Does anyone know? How do you prove one is not a robot?
@tb1999 and @OldCatLady Sorry I can’t use the reply feature in the forums. I was afraid that was the case. I was not able to find any check box. And if I have to choose a picture then I am out of luck. I don’t suppose that the picture gifs are going to be labled with the content of the picture. I sure didn’t get that far last night. I know this practice has been in place since January but this is the first time I was foiled by being mistaken for a bot.
100% honest question, why do I even bother checking you anymore, meh? Between pulling shit like this and the products you've laughably called "deals" recently, I might as well go to woot. I can waste my time on crap just like here, but not have to pay $5 for the privilege.
I am having trouble with the captcha when purchaseing. I also have trouble replying directly. That is why I called them out in my comment way below the original comments. I hope I am actully replying to @Teripie! I just opened this in google and found a reply button I hope is correct. not at all sure. Screen reading software is so cool and yet so problematic. Smie
"Your meh.com order of Meh: Year One Limited Edition Commemorative Collectors Shirt has shipped" Yeah really - this is some kind of record! Don't worry Meh, we won't expect you to hold to this standard throughout the coming year. I'm just p/o'd at myself that I didn't figure out "Hey maybe I should watch Meh at midnight EDT and think about getting a Fukubukuro!" :^\
I ordered 2 of wrong size. I was here when they went up but couldn't remember what size I needed since they run funky. Dug throughout drawers to find shirts and figure out which one fit best. Then they were out, but still bought 2 because meh. Good to sleep in if too big ? Looking forward.
I got mine Tuesday and wore it yesterday after work. When I got home I sat there thinking something smelled sort of like a tuna fish sandwich. I finally realized it was the shirt. Into the wash it went. Also, considering it's the same size AA shirt I've worn for quite some time, it seemed to be smaller than usual. I know what you're thinking - no, I'm not bigger than usual. I too agree that the print is a bit low.
@darksaber99999 They just say S. I bought two women's mediums for my kids and they just say M. They also may still be too small because they seem to have shrunk more than is typical for AA, but that's unrelated. On a happier note, the smell washes out.
