Because of a particularly memorable summer when I was growing up, during which we had four entire stems of bananas come ripe at exactly the same time, I have a hard time looking at a banana and doing anything but wanting to run away fast. This appliance might make me reach Warp 6.
@werehatrack
how cool ! Where did you grow up? Here in the US south (zone 7b), my bananas only get a few inches long and invariably freeze before ripening. I still keep hoping for a mild winter some year.
We have one and use it every week. We normally put in frozen pineapple or frozen mango or frozen strawberries in as well. It makes an amazing ice cream substitute.
@sammydog01 I actually saw a recipe recently where you freeze apples and add nutmeg and cinnamon to make a kind of apple cobbler. Haven’t tried it yet but I will soon.
I am hoping the fact that they are testing them that they might sell them soon. I would happily get one as a backup as well as a few for family.
I already have something that mushes bananas into a paste: a blender. Dump in a spoon of vanilla paste, some fresh fruit, give it a spin, and I have a banana-based ice cream substitute. Add a few ice cubes and some almond milk and it becomes a shake. I don’t understand why I should give storage space to something that just mushes bananas.
Actually came across one at a thrift store today. Should I have bought it? Based on the video…I’m not so sure. Will it make me lose my mind? Will I go yonanas?
@ybmuG It mushes up bananas into something that resembles slightly slimy soft serve ice cream. You can put other fruit in it to make it less slimy. I personally like it but the sliminess is probably why it’s at the thrift store. AND FAT FREE.

I still have my Yonanas. I should pull it out and use it.
@sammydog01 Do it! Pull it out!!
@sammydog01 @yakkoTDI
That’s what she said.

@Macoland I used to freeze canned pumpkin and add crushed ginger snaps at the end. I need to try frozen mango.

@Macoland The video is from 2015 when they sold them. So probably not. I should go look up some recipes, thanks!
@sammydog01 Bummer, I didn’t realize they sold them before. I guess I didn’t realize what they were at the time.
@Macoland @sammydog01 meh used to do product videos about the new items… Then they like to rerelease the videos to tease us about the old items.

@sammydog01 No offense, but it doesn’t make me want to run back and buy it…just sayin.
