Meh Shirt, Some Shoes, Daily Thoughts
21I recently realized that I have a lot of meh shirts. I’ve known for a while that I have a lot of Converse Chuck Taylor shoes.
So, I’ve decided to wear (and post) a unique pair of Chucks and Meh shirt every single day. I reckon I’ve got enough shirts to make it through February without repeats. (I could make it to April on shoes).

Day 1: The beginninging. February 1st. It’s fairly cold here in Pittsburgh, although not as bad as it has been. We’ve got a lot of snow (for us), which means I should shovel this morning before work. But I’m not going to.
This is one of my more recent shirt acquisitions, on a scale of 1 to 10 I rate it an 8.
We need Meh Chuck Taylors.
@shawn yessssssss

Juussstt saying…
Day 2, February 2nd. Today I thought I had a dentist appointment. I overslept, grabbed a quick photo and ran out the door.
I did not, in fact, have an appointment today.
Now I’m sitting in a long queue, waiting to wash my car. The driveway still isn’t shoveled, and I’m attempting to post this from mobile.
The shirt today is one of the earlier ones I bought, a solid 6/10. The chucks are a Chuck Taylor 70s last, in a blue felt.
Day 4, February Monday
I don’t sleep well. Never have. I pre-ordered an Eight Sleep mattress pad/cover thing back when they first announced it, and I really like it- especially this time of year when I can pre-heat my bed before getting in to it.
Every day, you get a “sleep report” from the app. Mine is usually just a shrug emoji with the caption “why do you bother?”. Today however, I got a solid five hours. I feel refreshed, energized and ready to face the world. I assume tonight I just won’t sleep to balance it all.
I don’t remember when I got today’s shirt, but I’ve always liked that the print closely matches the shirt color. It’s like a stealth print, but more fun than the black/black. Also, it’s orange, and I don’t have many orange shirts. 8/10.
The chucks are from the Pride 2016 (or 2017?) collection, before they let Miley Cyrus design the line (blech).
@hanzov69 Cute!..I don’t have the rainbow ones…I just have mine in a rainbow of colors…and I don’t wear orange as a rule…(the color doesn’t work on me)…and I think I don’t have any in green…I may have to rectify that today…
@amehzinggrace Greens and Blues tend to dominate my collection. I keep trying to branch out, but I’m always drawn to those. If you happen to have a Marshalls nearby, they generally have a good selection of “core” color ways available pretty danged cheap.
Day 8, @barney Day
It’s Friday, I guess. Tonight is my “off” night, which is to say that I make no plans beyond vegetating in front of my TV/Monitor, game controller in hand and staying up entirely too late playing games.
Anthem looks promising, and tonight I’m going to give Apex Legends a spin. Mostly because my PS4 is feeling sad an lonely, Smash Bros. and Mario Tennis have been consuming my gaming attention as of late.
Todays chucks are an easter release from I think 2008ish. I have a pair in green as well. The bunnies are fuzzy, and I love them. I believe they may have been intended for women, given the footbed print, but they’re the unisex last and in my size so… /shrug
Purple standard meh shirt to match. 7/10 on shirt, 9/10 on shoes.
@hanzov69 do you buy all the limited editions? Out of all the shoes they’ve made, what percent do you think you own?
@hanzov69 Purple shirt and shoes – both should be a 10+
I love purple.
@hanzov69 The purple meh shirt is one of the few that I’ve actually worn. AA’s eggplant purple > other brands’ purple.
@narfcake Agreed, I like their purple
@RiotDemon I don’t buy all the limited editions, or even most of them. Ignoring the standard colorways and seasonal colorways, there are still fair number of seasonal prints, and usually a handful of limited editions or collaboration series. It gets even messier when you include the “customize” chucks, which are also seasonal. Percentage wise, over the 10 years or so that I’ve been buying more than basic chucks, I would say I’m at <10% of the limited editions.
I also don’t mess with any of the non-Chuck Taylor All-Stars lines, usually. So things like the One Stars, John Varvatos (not the collabs, those are different), or the Chuck IIs get a pass from me. I also skip most high tops, which is a bummer because they often do a lot of fun materials and designs, but I really prefer the lo-tops.
@hanzov69 BUNNIES!
Day 3, February Superbowl. Today is my “being an adult” day. Cleaning around the house, some errands, going grocery shopping, etc. I will not be shoveling the driveway, because it doesn’t need it. The sunny day yesterday handled that for me.
I will not be partaking in Superbowl (Super Bowl? Super ball?) festivities. Mostly because I just found out this morning that it’s today and I’m not really interested in football.
The shirt today is the first one I purchased from meh, and if I’m honest was my first instant regret kit. I hate the design, but was swayed by the $5 cost. The upshot is that I’ve worn it so infrequently that nearly 4 years later it’s basically mint. 2 out of 10.
I’m partnering it up with a pair of grey wool chucks from one of their Woolrich collabs. These happen to be some of my favorites, so I feel like it balances my feelings about the shirt.
@hanzov69 My copies haven’t even made it to the wash! The one I bought from a thrift store has, though.

@hanzov69 Your better choice was pairing it with a matching cat.
@hanzov69 @Kidsandliz
/image matching cat and catshirt
@narfcake You need matching slippers too. Wonder if they do humans. Slippers
For those who don’t want to click.
@Kidsandliz Dying her is a pain, but totally worth it for the sake of matching. She’s not looking forward to Wednesday. We wear pink on Wednesdays.
Day 7. Still February.
I’m leading a training today for our Engineers, teaching them how to embrace the “Cloud”. I established a separate subscription with our provider, in order to give the engineers a “sandbox” to play in where they wouldn’t disturb my delicate web of nonsense.
Like a fool, I offered to spend a little time over lunch to offer them some guidance and info on “best practices”. Somehow this grew legs and has turned in to a formal training event. Which means I have to actually create a presentation, handouts, blah blah blah. I don’t dislike public speaking, but honestly the whole reason I created this subscription was to give them space to play where they would leave me alone. There is already talk of turning this in to a series of events. No good deed goes un-punished I suppose.
While I dislike the non-“meh” shirts, todays education appropriate tee is a recent favorite. Perhaps it’s because as a child of 80’s “the more you know” segments are burned in to the pop-culture center of my brain.
Shoes are a chuck 70’s release from Easter of 2017 or 2018. I believe they were titled “fuzzy bunny”, but in my head I tend to think of them as “Cookie Monster fur”, which gives me perverse delight. Shirt 7/10, shoes 6/10 (would be higher, but I prefer lo-tops).
@hanzov69 oh, those are fun. They also resemble a nice fluffy blue towel.
/giphy that’s a lot of shoes
Day 5, February Skip-work-day
Today I blew off work to go snowboarding with my girlfriend. When I say “blew off”, I mean I correctly put my PTO on the shared calendar and my own personal calendar, then responded to many slack messages. But it felt like playing hooky.
The chucks today are a gore-tex mountaineering boot inspired high top. They’re super warm and comfy, and I intended to take a photo of them and the shirt at the slopes. Except in my haste, we left the house without the shirt, so I had to wait until I got home tonight. Which means I didn’t actually wear the shirt today. Fine by me- this is another design I don’t care for, although I like the blue. We’ll call it 3/10.
Woohoo! That’s more than me!
@narfcake yeah, if I were to guess I have maybe 15? I actually stopped buying them because they were starting to take up too much drawer space, and I get free shirts all the time from work (university and conferences)
@narfcake @smigit2002 I was actually contemplating down sizing my meh shirt collection after this posting project. A Mehrie Kondo kinda deal.
@hanzov69 Noooooooo!
@narfcake @hanzov69 well if you folks go buy a bunch of underwear than perhaps you won’t need to do laundry for a month or more. You are welcome.
@hanzov69 @Kidsandliz For me, laundry waits until it’s a full load. Sometimes, I’ll wear a lot from a single artist – because I could.
@narfcake More than me, too. (By a lot.)
My husband complains about the overflowing drawers, but I tell myself I can create a meh quilt if the collection gets too excessive. (Though I did slow down a bit with buying them.)
@christinewas I’m not really in to the new non-meh designs. They’re nice, but when I wear print shirts (seldom), I want to broadcast my mediocre indifference.
OMG…its like you’re in my closet…
@amehzinggrace … yeah, but that would be crazy… (nervous laughter)
@hanzov69 I’ma need you to stay out of texas…
@amehzinggrace But, I have a wedding in Austin this fall… Can’t I just stay a little longer?
@hanzov69 Since you have the good taste to be in Austin…stay out of my closet…and keep it weird…
This is awesome but I’m positive I have more meh shirts than anyone. Mainly because I “buy extra” for my lady and they end up in my closet. I have 30 American apparel meh shirts alone
VAN MURALS! GROUND SQUIRRELS! SPIT CURLS! AWESOME!
@mediocrebot seen some pretty cool van murals even a Canadian ground squirrel… but what the hell is a spit curl
@boredashell Oh yeah!? Well… I’ve got a lot of shoes, so there!
@hanzov69 i only got 3 pairs of chucks
@boredashell
/image spit curl
Awesome
KRULL! A SKULL! BRETT HULL! AWESOME!
Day 9
Posting this from bed, having nearly forgotten to do it earlier today.
Then changing orientation on the my phone ate the post, so now I’m keeping it short.
A brown basic meh shirt that’s grown on me, I think I have two of these. Chucks are a carhartt collab that’s subtle but I love a duck canvas. Shirt is 6/10, shoes are 8/10
Day 10
@hanzov69 posting on mobile is total crapshoot it seems.
Shoes are hemp slip ons, 7/10, shirt is new meh, also 7/10
@hanzov69 This one is the tri-blend, right?
@narfcake Yeah, the Next Level shirt. I happen to like them a lot, I actually have a number of blank Next Level shirts that I wear most of the time. They stay super soft right up until they don’t when they magically seem to pill themselves in to sandpaper
Day 11 - Posting early and from a computer
My family is “from” Pittsburgh. Both grandparents immigrated here as very small children, my mother, Aunts and Uncles were all born here, I was born here.
However, I didn’t live here until I was 33-34. I’d decided to make a career change and was looking for an affordable place to live with metropolitan life, but wasn’t interested in living in a “big” city. And I happened to know some people in the Pittsburgh area, so I moved here about six years ago.
My grandfather was a self-made man, who retired very well off after selling his business in Pittsburghs North Shore. At the time, it was largely an industrial-ish area. Today, the company still exists, with his name on the side of the building, an oddity surrounded by a redeveloped area. From this office you can see the Warhol Museum.
Shepard Fairey had an exhibit at the Warhol Museum some years ago, and up until fairly recently the store sold a number of his items, with an Obey Clothing “pop up” shop located adjacent to the museum.
Todays shirt is a meh take on one of the classic “Obey” designs. I’ve coupled it with red chucks in a quilted pattern, with grey felt lining and a felt strip on the heel bumper. Nice and warm for a snowy day.
Shoes 8/10, Obey Meh shirt 8/10 (another non-basic Meh shirt that I quite like).
@hanzov69 I passed on that design. It lacked a cat.
@hanzov69 Hi, neighbor! I come to Pittsburgh to work sometimes. Normally I am up north.
I have been lurking / enjoying the shirts and shoes ☻
@speediedelivery hey! Sounds like the start of a mehtup! If you like shoes and shirts, how do you feel about beers? We’ve got a lot of wonderful breweries worth checking out when you’re in town
@hanzov69 I drink but not beer. I stay in Greentree. I should be back early next month.
@hanzov69 i love what you are doing here!
@speediedelivery Neat! I live on the border of Greentree in the Banksville area. We have plenty of non-beer options around here as well, have you ever been to either the Federal Street Galley or Smallman Galley?
@hanzov69 Have you by any chance since the documentary exit through the gift shop?
@hanzov69 Nope. I do not like your traffic so I don’t go far. I haven’t figured out what is close and good.
@riskybryzness I have, years ago when it first came out. I remember being fascinated over whether it was real or not. As memory serves I decided I didn’t really care because genuine or fake it was amusing and subversive.
@speediedelivery ha, our traffic isn’t so bad! Where are you coming from on these trips?
(To be fair, the traffic you will see on the parkway close to greentree is some of the worst, second only to Squirrel Hill or rte 28)
@lilsrm123 Thanks!
@hanzov69 I come down from the north on 79. I usually walk to work. Traffic is watching more than one car pass me as I walk.
@hanzov69 If you’re interested, there’s a great doc of him on Hulu. Highly recommend it if you enjoyed the Exit Through the Gift Shop one.
@riskybryzness That’s awesome, I’m going to have to check that out. Thanks!
EVERYTHING IS AWESOME!
Day 12 - Frebuyary
Today is one of my “work from home” days, which means I’m sitting in a banh mi shop having a bubble tea.
The polar vortex has come and gone. Now it’s just rain and a decided lack of winter here in the 'burgh. I’m kind of ok with it though, means less shoveling for me.
I am going to get a bit of winter in my life though, as I’m headed off to the French alps to do some snowboarding in a couple of weeks. Pretty excited for that. Our company has an unlimited PTO policy, and after more than two years there I’m finally starting to feel comfortable exercising that benefit.
Today shirt is a grey confetti meh shirt mated with a pair of light grey felt slip ons. Shirt gets a 6/10, shoes are super comfy and a nice material, they’re 8/10.
Day 6, February 6. Wednesday.
Turns out that playing hooky was the wrong choice. A big part of doing my job well means being “lazy”. Which means automating everything within an inch of its life. Done correctly, no one will notice my absence. The trade off of course is that it’s important to keep a low profile, lest anyone else discover how little I (appear) to do.
Yesterday, a deployed app failed. Automation be damned, low profile be damned, and my absence was noted.
On Wednesdays we wear pink. And we fix deployment scripts.
The shirt is the meh frosting and sprinkles shirt, a personal favorite; the chucks a pair of 70s in a light pink with embroidered flamingos. To hell with low profile, I’m fabulous. 8.5/10 on the shirt, 7/10 on the shoes, 1/10 on Azure Pipelines.
@hanzov69 do you clean your shoes at the end of the day?
Or are they just so clean from little wear?
@RiotDemon Clean from low wear, and I work in an office which helps.
I try not to get them dirty, but I’m not the type of sneaker head that strives to keep them in pristine shape.
Day 13 - St. Valentines Eve
I may have cursed myself- we had a brief but intense snow storm this morning. We went from no snow at all to maybe an inch covering everything in the span of an hour. It’s stopped for the moment, but apparently more is on the way.
Thinking about Andy Warhol and Chucks, I decided this morning to wear a pair from the Andy Warhol series of Chucks. Annoyingly, these officially are referred to as “floral”, but they are clearly a take on the Flowers series. The entire run of Warhol Chucks seemed to be split down the middle- reasonably faithful recreations of famous prints/iconography (traditional red/blue soup cans, the Velvet Underground banana, etc), while the rest were interpretations. The Flowers prints (known as floral, blech) all use color schemes not present in the original series.
What makes this pair interesting to me is the soles are translucent, with the print continuing under the footbed. One sole in red, the other in blue.
Todays shirt is also interesting to me- it’s a red/maroon-ish shirt with an almost seafoam green print. The colors, to my eye at least, clash quite a bit, which is part of why I like the shirt.
Shoes 8/10, Shirt 8/10, Snow 1/∞
Day 15 - Friyay.
Last night my girlfriend and I celebrated our first Valentines Day together. It wasn’t what I would characterize as overly romantic. There were no grand gestures or lavish gifts. We went to an event at the Children’s Museum, played like kids, had a simple meal and retired to her place to finish the first series of Downton Abbey. It was comfortable, zero-pressure and pretty much perfect. Which is probably how it should be, I think.
Downton Abbey though…woo. It’s been on my list of things to watch for quite a while, meanwhile girlfriend has seen it a couple of times. She’s been really enjoying watching me watch it, it seems. Every time Bates and Anna were alone together I’m shouting “just make out already!”. I have strong feelings about basically all of the characters, except Mary who I feel wildly ambivalent about. At the conclusion of the first series finale I may have said “I hope <person> kills her self. I don’t even want to see her in the next series.”
I’m totally invested in this show.
There is no link, even a tenuous one, to todays shirt and shoes. Shirt is the Metallic Meh from a couple of months ago, shoes are a shiny silver Chuck. Both get a solid 8/10 in my book, with Downton Abbey rating 9/10.
Day 16 - LEGO day
All the conversation elsewhere about Lego inspired me to go see the LEGO movie 2 tonight with my girlfriend.
I’m crazy excited about this, particularly because the trailer indicated that there are a number of Chris Pratt jokes.
Todays shoes are a pair of Chuck IIs, which I generally don’t car for. The soles are a different rubber, the feature Nike lumolon (or something) footbeds, and have elastic to hold the tongue in place. Not my thing. If these are the Nike fly knit and I will begrudgingly admit they are super comfy. I’ve paired it with a fuko meh shirt, which I also dislike, although not my least favorite.
Shoes 3/10, shirt 4/10, LEGO Awesome/10
VAN GOGH! MANGO! TANGO! AWESOME!
Day 17 - Fake Saturday
Tomorrow we celebrate having a day off for dead presidents, I guess. This post is kind of late because I spent the day doing chores around the house, and only put on real clothes before I had to leave to pick up my girlfriend.
Tomorrow will be my fake Sunday, but instead of doing all the chores I normally do on real Sunday, I’ll have the day to do whatever I want. Kind of like my real Saturdays.
So was today actually real Sunday, but tomorrow is fake Saturday?
But I have to go to bed tomorrow at a normal time, and the day will be followed by a work day, like real Sunday usually is…
I’m not going to think about it, instead I’ll post this and play some Apex Legends with my Left Coast Canadian friends.
Shoes are a sort of peachy-orange, shirt is a green meh with a similar orange in the logo. Shoes rate a 5/10, shirt is probably a 6/10. Saturdays, real and fake, 8/10
Day 18 - Late
I would have posted this earlier, but posting in landscape mode (which you have to do to add photos) from your phone is a giant pain in the ass.
Perhaps I’m doing something wrong, but when I switch to landscape, my usable space in the text entry drops to barely a line of text, and scrolling becomes a nightmare.
And god help you if you dare to switch between the two orientations while posting. Frustrating, really.
So, I figured I would wait until I got home to post todays. Which is now. For the pedants out there, it’s after 12 EST, but I haven’t slept yet so it’s the same day in my book.
Today was a snowboarding day, so I opted for a pair of slip-ons to make life a bit easier to/from the mountain. Chucks are a greyish white, which is different than the classic “optic white” (although these days it’s just “white”). Shirt is the VMP Stealth. Shoes, 7/10, Shirt 8/10, Posting from phone 1/10.
@hanzov69 agree. I hate posting text from a phone with photos. When I did my goat reign a while back, I would use the note pad on my phone to type everything and link whatever videos. Then I would copy and paste to the text box so I could upload photos.
Occasionally I’ll upload a photo, hit say it, then turn my phone, and edit my post. Or I’ll type the text in the box first and copy it directly from the site.
@hanzov69
When I want to upload an image to the forums, I can avoid landscape mode by checking the Desktop mode thing in my browser. It’s a little cumbersome, but it seems easier than using the landscape view.
/giphy Pomeranian sideways
@eonfifty That’s a straight up pro tip, thank you!
Day 20 - Snow Day
We got a lot of snow in the early hours of the day. In fact, it’s still coming. I don’t live in the “urban” part of Pittsburgh (most people don’t), but rather the leading edge of the Suburbs.
My street hasn’t been plowed, which isn’t a big deal, but the feeder road (a decent hill) hasn’t either- which is a deal of some sort. While I have an all wheel drive winter vehicle, after the last few years winters, I deigned to simply keep all season tires on it vice winter tires.
Which is all my way of saying I’m working from home today, F the roads. And I think this time I will have to shovel.
Shirt today is the Meh Pixel. This is actually one of my more favorite shirts because it takes the “classic” design and riffs on it in an interesting way.
Shoes are another Japanese import, this time a Toy Story themed pair. Really excellent build quality, upgraded footbed (not lunalon), padded canvas, etc. My favorite detail is that inside the shoe is the “andy” scrawl.
Shirt 9/10, Shoes 9/10, Shoveling 1/10
@hanzov69 I love my pixel shirt. I don’t know what kind of printing they call that, but it’s my favorite. It feels like nothing.
But why, oh why didn’t they put Andy on the bottom of the shoe?
@RiotDemon yeah not sure if it’s screen printing or what…
by chance did the blue ink seep through your shirt? I noticed sometime ago that mine has ink on both sides, but only the blue.
As for the Andy on the bottom, I have a theory: these have a “premium” sole, which I think limits their manufacturing options. Some of the shoes have clear soles, others have color designs in the mold (golf la fleur series), but none of those are using the same materials.
@hanzov69 yep, blue on the inside.
I mean, I know Andy wrote his name on the bottom of his toys, but I suppose it would make more sense that he writes it on the inside of his shoe.
@hanzov69 @RiotDemon Water based ink; possibly discharge printed.
(I didn’t buy this one.)
@hanzov69 @narfcake neat! Thanks for sharing.
@narfcake @RiotDemon That’s freaking awesome!
OWLS! TOWELS! JOWLS! AWESOME!
Day 21 - Where I undress to take photos
Totally forgot to take a photo before getting dressed this morning, so it had to wait until after work.
I’ve been thinking a lot about the “meh” logo transformation, ala the pixel shirt above. I think it would be fun to have a shirt mehrby type system. Here is how it could work:
Members with at least one purchase can submit a variation on the meh logo (template provided). It goes in to a pool of shirts. You can submit exactly once, and you can replace your submission at a later date.
Once a month (week? whatever), a new round of voting begins. Every member (with at least one purchase), gets a vote. Highest voted shirt design gets made, and removed from the pool. At that time, the author can then submit a new design. Losing designs live on in the pool until replaced or chosen. Votes are reset each round, with lifetime stats also available.
Speaking of things designed by customers… todays shoes are a pair I designed at the Converse HQ Store at Lovejoy Wharf, Boston. They have (had?) a system that allows you pick from a number of materials and patterns, or to select your own pattern or even provide your own. Kind of like their online customization tool, but on steroids.
I’ve seen a few machines available that effectively “print” on to a prepared pair of Chuck Taylors, although I believe their system is different than the setup Baggins uses, but I can’t be sure.
The neat thing about getting shoes at this location is they all have a red stripe on the sole signifying the Freedom Trail, and the footbed says “Boston”. These particular ones are a sugar skull paisley, and rate as some of my most favorite.
The shirt might not be a Meh shirt, and I’ve expressed a distaste for designs, but in this case I happen to (mostly) like it. My one complaint is that it has the casemates logo, which ruins an otherwise fun picture (in my mind).
Shoes 9/10, Shirt 7/10, Boston 7/10.
@hanzov69 Related company, so close enough in my perspective.
This thread is amazing. Or conversely, Amehzing?
SWIDT? But for realz, amazing.
@ACraigL thanks!
Day 23 - It’s an Audio Clue, “ASIA”
I have a 3d printer, and I’ve slowly taught myself how to do basic 3d modeling in a variety of software. I’m capable enough making small widgets and bobbins, but still lack the mastery make more complex pieces.
Part of the problem is I tend to get distracted by other ideas. My intent was to create a “better” system of mounting my PS4 under my desk. While working on it, I started thinking about how I really should tackle a better shelving system in my office.
Bored with the PS4 mount, I decided that it would be fun to model up a shelving system (not for 3d printing) that I could use in my office space.
Then it occurred to me that I would need real dimensions, both of the office and the things I want to put on the shelves. So, I started looking at the things I already have on my shelves. Things like Lego. And comic books.
While looking at the comics, I remembered that I never got around to reading the latest East of West trade. Or Saga. Or…
Several hours later now I’ve caught up on a ton of comic backlog, I’m no closer to a shelving solution, my PS4 remains top side on my desk occupying valuable real estate, and I’m due at my girlfriends in 15 minutes.
Oh well, there is always tomorrow.
The shirt today is a Mediocre Labs stealth black/black shirt. Between the logo and colors, it’s easily my favorite “meh”(ish) shirt. The shoes are a pair of the DC series from 8ish years ago. I don’t know what distribution was on these, but I never saw them outside of foreign markets. I don’t believe they were an asia/europe exclusive, but it’s possible I suppose.
Shirt 10/10, Shoes 7/10, East of West 9/10
I think Steven Wright should have some meh shirts.
@Dakini I love Steven Wright!
My son just got a custom design pair yesterday.
@callow Those are great! I like the pink taping and pin striping
Day 14 - Wherein we celebrate 1/8th of the Lucky Charms Marshmallows
I didn’t really have a thought to share, but I knew I wanted to make a Lucky Charms heart marshmallow joke. But I couldn’t remember how many marshmallows there were, naturally sending me to Wikipedia.
There are eight now- at some point they added freaking unicorns. Here is what made me laugh-
Its powers are unknown
Apparently Lucky Charms marshmallows have powers.
Hearts have the power to bring things to life. General Mills has allowed a goddamned leprechaun necromancer make diabetic breakfast foods. I’m rethinking my current breakfast strategy.
Todays shoes are a hot pink pair of Chucks. Nothing special or particularly interesting. In fact, I’m not even all that crazy about them, but I find occasion to wear them often enough. The shirt is (another) blue with white text basic meh. Because I’m fickle, today I’m rating it a 5/10. I have another one (total of three), maybe I’ll love it more.
Shoes are a 4/10. Marshmallow hearts with the ability to reanimate the dead, 10/10.
@hanzov69 I remember at one point the shapes actually looked like what they were supposed to. Then they kept adding them. The unicorns look like they melted.
/image lucky charms marshmallow shapes
There’s the hourglass they retired. Even the shooting star looks like crap.
/image lucky charms unicorn marshmallow close
@RiotDemon Wow, I remember them as being a lot more well defined. Those are just colorful blobs.
Day 19 - Bed Cats
This was one of those “so much to do you don’t stop until it’s time for bed” kind of days.
Normally, I take a photo of the shirt and shoes when I get dressed for the day. Tonight however, I’m working in reverse, as I just got changed and am preparing to go to sleep.
So, welcome, to my bed fellow mehn, womehn, and non-binmehry folks.
This is one of the two meh cat shirts I bought, this one has it’s eyes closed and is seemingly indifferent. I don’t like it either and regret purchasing it. Perfect meh shirt I suppose. The chucks are a Chuck Taylor low cut boot limited from Japan. It’s not one of the Addict shoes, but does have a superior build quality.
The real cat is Dot, and she’s ready for bed as well.
Shirt 3/10, Shoes 8/10, Cat 10/10.
@hanzov69 Cute kitty! Meow.
(Let me know if you ever decide to sell that catshirt.)
@narfcake Funny you mention that. I’ve been toying with the idea of downsizing my shirt collection by way of offering them up to the rest of the community. Figured I would look in to what the cheapest way to ship them to folks would be and then decide how I could best give them away. I don’t think I would ask anyone to pay for a used shirt
@hanzov69 Over half my shirt.woot collection was purchased second-hand/used, so it’s not anything weird.
@hanzov69 Postage would be based on weight and distance. If it weighs 10oz, current rates would be $5.16 to $5.66. Flat rate priority envelope would be $7.35.
@speediedelivery Thanks for that info. It seems like first class in the poly bag/tyvek envelope would be the way to go- five odd doll hairs.
@narfcake I guess if I do this I could just ask for people to shoot me a couple bucks for shipping. Guess I need to start coming up with a list of shirts to share. You’ve got cat shirt dibs
Day 22 - Red Meh Something Clever with Redemption
Back on the OG meh shirt train today. It’s Friday and frankly I’m kind of brain dead at this point.
Rather than think something up, I’m going to copy/paste my thoughts on Apex Legends.
Shirt is a basic red meh, I have two others exactly like it.
Shoes are standard chucks in oxblood/maroon, the unique aspect is the “natural gum” soles/sidewall/toe cap. It’s a bit softer than what they usually use, so I’ve noticed it wearing faster. Feel is about the same, however.

Day 24 - Home Stretch
I’m no closer to my bookshelves, but I have successfully produced a mount for my PS4 and headphones. My desk is on the verge of being slightly less cluttered. Exciting times await.
Unfortunately, I realized too late that I don’t have the size wood screw I thought I had, so my options are to either redesign the brackets, or purchase more screws.
I opted for more screws. So, the project is delayed…again.
Once again I’m headed off to bed, and once again I’m finally get around to posting the shirt/shoes for the day.
Today’s shirt is the “big” print version of this shirt. I don’t think I’m crazy about the giant ass logo. Shoes are a standard chuck, but covered in fuzzy mustaches, with matching laces.
Shirt 5/10, Shoes 10/10, Need More Screws, 0/10
@hanzov69 nothing quite like shouting across the room how meh you feel.
@RiotDemon Actually… I think you hit it on the head. Having a giant “meh” just feels like exerting a lot of effort in to an expression of relative indifference.

I like this thread, why does February have to end???
@mikibell Thanks!
Day 28 - The End (?)
It doesn’t actually have to be the end, I’ve got a few more shirts and a zillion more Chucks. But, I’m flying out tomorrow for a ski trip in the French Alps, which means packing very few shoes and mostly living in base layers.
Poor me.
This is also the first trip I’ve taken with my girlfriend, and our approaches are…different.
In the past, I traveled a lot. Like my last passport had an extra 72 pages added, and I nearly filled every one of them.
My traveling has slowed down considerably, I head out of the country only 2-3 times a year now. But the packing methods and considerations are deeply embedded habits at this point.
I’m also a big list-maker. I have checklists for everything, completed and double checked a few days in advance of my trip.
Girlfriend starts packing the day before and seemingly feels she needs to bring everything she owns. Which naturally makes me a little crazy.
To be clear, this isn’t a jab at gender or even experience, she is also well traveled (to a lesser degree).
She probably thinks I’m crazy for my hyper organized, pack only the most essential items approach. I think she’s a little crazy for just winging it. My clothing luggage can easily be stowed in overhead. I’m worried hers may be over weight allowance.
Shirt today is a navy blue meh face. Much like the first shirt that I posted, bookending this month of posts.
Shoes are a bit weird, these are “Chucks” in name and basic silhouette alone. They were released as “Converse Chuck Taylor Modern Future Mesh”. The “mesh” is apparently the perforation in the upper. The toe cap is a thin clear coating, and the soles a one piece molded riff on the standard design.
And they are light… like crazy “am I even holding something?” light. The fit is a bit snugger than the traditional last, but honestly it feels like you’re wearing nothing at all, except the Phylon soles are so forgiving and comfortable, I feel like you could stand all day in these.
Shirt 8.5/10, Shoes 8/10, Month 28/30ish
It’s been a fun month Meh, I think I’ll have at least one more post in this topic before I call it quits. Thanks all!
@hanzov69 Thanks for the great month of daily meh shirts and Chucks. I swear this has been like a goat thread, but without any of the blaming.
@hanzov69 @narfcake totally G.O.A.T. quality!
@hanzov69 thank you!
Day 25 - Moneyday
Today I’m completing my teams reviews and sharing their pay increases / bonuses.
Which means I’m also getting my review completed today as well.
The other night I had a dream that I converted my grill in to a theremin. I was cooking hot dogs and playing “Good Vibrations” at the same time.
There is a part of me that sort of wants to try and make that happen.
Today’s shirt is a black meh confetti, partnered up with a standard pair of chucks covered in a faux money print. Seemed fitting for the day.
Shirt 6/10, Shoes 8/10, BBQ WooOOooo 9/10
@hanzov69 I got to play with a theremin once at some kids science center. It was very interesting.
Day 26 - The end draws nigh…
My companies bonus structure is tied to our parent corporations performance over the fiscal year. It’s actually a blend of a percentage of our pay, a percentage of our pay modified by corporate performance and multiplied by our review rating.
Our corporate owner generally exceeds their performance goal, which means that the bonus is actually slightly higher than is estimated. This year they well exceeded their goal, which means that our bonus (which is in and of itself just that, a bonus) is even bigger. A bonus bonus.
Today I found out the exact amount of my bonus, and I was giddy excited. I briefly thought of all the really fun things I could do with the money. I already have a ball pit…what else could I do? How many shoes can I buy?
And then the adult reality settled in. I’m going to apply the entire amount to my mortgage. Home ownership, IMO, is pretty much the worst.
Coincidentally, todays shirt/shoes are the best worst.
Not my least favorite meh shirt (that’s this one), this is the meh fuko shirt. I thought I would like it well enough, but I think having a bunch of japanese characters on the shirt makes me vaguely uncomfortable, as a non-japanese speaker/reader.
The shoes were a buy that seemed neat, but honestly I don’t really care for and have maybe worn five times, counting today. They are a classic chuck, in a monochrome red color scheme, with the upper made of a shiny AF vinyl type material. The soles are pretty cool though.
Shirt 2/10, Shoes 3/10, Bonus 125%/100
@hanzov69 those shoes need a shiny PVC outfit to go with.
/image red PVC dress
@RiotDemon I think I’ve got the legs to pull that off. Not sure that my girlfriend would like it. Or possibly afraid that she’d really like it.
@hanzov69 good legs you say? Here you go. She can wear the dress.
Day 27 - No power, no post.
So, I lost power yesterday. At least for a little while. I decided to head out and enjoy other things, with power. Like the museum. “I’ll post when I get home”, I reasoned.
Then I got home. And I was tired…
So a day late (for real, because I slept), here we go:
YesterTodays pairing is the Meh stealth black shirt, with a pair of Chuck 70’s with a black on black Warhol Campbells print. Photographing these proved challenging, best I could muster is presented below. The shoes look more grey than they actually are.
Shirt 9/10, Shoes 9/10, Museums 10/10
Impressive! Enjoyed every bit of the journey! Well done! Enjoy your trip!
the Congressional Medal of Honor for his actions in a rescue of three American airmen from a base that was being overrun and under heavy fire.
@mina9000 who?
. I also skip most high tops, which is a bummer because they often do a lot of fun materials and designs, but I really prefer the lo-tops.
