Meh release time, unfair advantage?
3With Meh being released at midnight, EST, it's pretty late for some of us on the east coast. Like many other great East Coast Americans, we have a job that requires us to be awake at 5:00 AM, Monday through Friday. As many hard-working, family supporting, Meh-loving, patrons know, not getting to bed at a decent hour can be very draining the next day and have negative effects on health, mood, and work production. We have to make a choice between refreshing the Meh page and getting to sleep at a decent hour. Staying awake until midnight is quite literally not an option for many people. And by the time we awake, at many points, the deal is already gone; sold to those who don't have to make the choice to stay awake or go to sleep.
Currently, the further west you move through the United States time zones, the better chance they have of being awake to see the great deals. In CST, it will be 11 PM. Still late, but much better than midnight. And the Kings living over in Westeros in the PST Kingdom have a very comfortable 10:00 PM while they look over at Easteros and laugh. Those in the Alaska and Hawaii zones also have it fairly well. And for the friends across the pond, a time of 6 AM, 7AM, 8AM, is more desirable to the everyday worker than a midnight release for us unfortunate few.
While it can never be fair for everyone everywhere, a time shift, by even an hour, to the left would help those of us on the East Coast and not have much of an effect to others around the Meh community. Please, Meh, let me give you my money before I go to sleep.

Oh god don't start this up again. East coaster here. I'm 4 for 4 on Fukos. Either move to the west coast or set an alarm like I do. Don't want to wake up at midnight? Good for you -- sleep is more important anyway.

@ACraigL Same here, East coaster and the only one I missed involved the site mostly crashing for an hour or more. I wish people would give this up already. Fukus only happen every few months so for the next few months (assuming your mostly after a Fuku) you can get some sleep early. then in about 2-3 months you can start staying up late.
Plus as you said any whiners can simply move out west since this apparently that important to them. Maybe it would be tax deductible too.
It's so weird nobody ever thought about this before!

well I for one went to bed before midnight last night because I value my sleep. I get no fuku, but that's okay because I'm an adult!

Thousands of people every year make an effort to get up or rearrange their schedules in an effort to get a good deal on something they want to buy? No way! It's almost like you have to... go out of your way to get a good price on stuff, or get a limited quantity item. How odd...

I live in the eastern time zone. I go to bed at 9pm because I have to be up early. I set an alarm, wake up, check the site, fall back asleep. It takes about three minutes total.
Or the current time is a perfect advantage for an east coaster on second shift. East coast Bias.

A for-profit organization has made a choice to do a thing at a certain time. They will do that thing at that time until it makes sense for them to change that thing. If you want to change something, lay down a compelling reason in front of the people who make BUSINESS DECISIONS. Not a compelling reason = 'I get tired have to get up early have narcolepsy live on the wrong coast only use paypal'. THIS ISN'T ABOUT YOU.

It doesn't matter what time they sell these. Its all luck. When meh first started I got 3 fukus in a row. But now there are too many people trying to get the same thing. Yup I'm pissed. I was up last night and I got the screen. Confirmed I was not a robot. Processed my order and still got a big fat nothing to show for it. Im not sure how to get one. Its all luck at this point. So FU, you lucky bastards

East coaster here. What's unfair is I have to WAKE UP at midnight to go to work. I get 2-3 hours of sleep a night, every night, but I'm 4 for 4 on fukus. Trust me when I say this, the fukus are nice, but sleep is nicer (at least I heard that it is).
Yeah, this argument is tired. Just to note, for those that suggest waking back up at 12 to check the site - that really doesn't work for a lot of us. I have a horrible time falling back asleep. I'm just better off staying up to check at midnight and getting 5 hours of sleep. Even if I go to bed at 8 pm (never happens), that 4 hours of sleep is right out the window if I get back up at midnight. It's just like I went to bed at midnight to begin with.
@cinoclav I'm the same with you. Setting an alarm and waking back up isn't practical for a lot of people, especially when it's just the people on the east coast that are put in this situation. I cannot fall back asleep easily once I'm up, and it would be another hour at least before being asleep again. People keep saying that this issue has already been brought up several times before...well that just means that it is a legitimate problem.
@Blaze It's not a legitimate problem. They are a business. You are not entitled to dictate, or even strongly request, how they run their business. You are not entitled to anything from them at all really, except for the goods and services that you pay for. I live on the East Coast, too. I also have to get up early. I also can't do the whole middle-of-the-night alarm thing. I make a decision based on my own personal priorities to stay up every night to check this site. If you make the choice to sleep instead, good for you! If you choose to stay up to snag deals, good for you! It's not Meh's problem how you choose, though.
@PurplePawprints @Blaze I definitely agree with this aspect of the situation. Midnight does make the most sense for a deal a day site as people expect the turn over to literally be at the end of the day. If anything, we're actually a bit fortunate they didn't decide to continue the woot method of changing it over at 1 am EST. Or God forbid, they be on the west coast and have it change at 3 am EST. Yes, it's still a pain in the ass and as I mentioned when I really do need to get some sleep it's not worth getting back up at midnight but for the most part, I'm up and will check at the turnover.
I am on the east coast, got the last 4 fuku's. Go to bed right after Meh every night and wake up at 5:30. So stop whining.
Ummm...I went to sleep about 11:30 because I was tired. So I miss out on the whole deal every time.
