So, I am child-free, but my friend says he learned his wife hates meal prep, and assumes everyone does. She has no concept of how it works. He hates dealing with his kids right after work, especially when they are getting hungry. So he volunteers for meal prep, and just stand next the oven/instant pot/air fryer/whatever as the food cooks, playing on his phone. Kids start shouting, he asks the wife to get it, since he’s “busy cooking.” When food is done, they eat, the kids calm down, and he offers to take over on them, while his wife does the dishes.
A couple months back, he realized his with fills the sink, throws the dishes in the dishwasher, then stands next to the sink, playing on her phone. He doesn’t want to call her on it, because he’s worried she knows about his cooking scheme, and thinks she’s keeping quiet for pretty much the same reason.
@simplersimon My wife does most of the laundry at our house and sometimes complains about the chore (more so back when the kids were still at home). But when I offer to do some of the work, she declines, saying that she actually finds it relaxing to fold laundry while watching TV. Huh?
What exactly is that term?? Everything I own is hanging on hangers in my closet, except my underwear and sock which are in bins on the shelves above the hangers…

Now the dog, I trained her to shit in the woods (bear-style), so no chore there.
Laundry. With a family of 6 it never ends. I would gladly mow the lawn if it meant an hour out of the house, listening to music, and not having to handle all of the “mom, mom, mom” requests. And I will say that my husband does help with folding and putting laundry away, but it still never ends.
Doing laundry and dishes can be quite liberating sometimes. Meal prep is fun if you enjoy it (live to eat or eat to live?). Vacuuming is refreshing if you have the right vacuum. But mowing the lawn is a PAIN. (all IMHO of course).
@somf69 There’s a reason I stayed in Florida instead of moving back to Michigan. And it wasn’t those occasional quaint summer breezes we get here sometimes.
@guyfromhawthorn I’m 100⅝ sure not picking up things never mind not picking up trash was not an option. And also sure raking leaves and mowing the lawn and chores were a thing. Maybe stop letting them be monsters?
I was doing some outside cleanup the other day and had a weird urge to mow the lawn. I didn’t think I enjoyed it, but maybe I do if I miss it during the winter? I guess it’s easier now that I have an electric mower.

cleaning floors for some reason is something i can barely bring myself to do, so probably that or cleaning the tub.
