THE CHALLENGE:
Create a Monsterfied Holiday Ornament
You are free to make it from anything…
You want to turn something from around your home into an ornament?.. Go for it!
You want to buy an ornament and monsterfy it?.. Please do!
You want to make it completely from scratch?.. Sounds great!
TIMELINE:
The Challenge begins now.
On Friday December 10th 2021 a Reveal Thread will be posted.
Challenge ends at 11:59pm on Sunday December 19th and all submissions need to be posted to the Reveal Thread by then.
KoolHandJoe will personally judge and select 3 Winners on Monday December 20th 2021.
THE RULES:
Only 1 entry per person.
The ornament you are monsterfying can be made from anything. You can buy an ornament and monsterfy it, you can take an item from your home and make it into an ornament and then monsterfy it or you can make your monsterfied ornament 100% from scratch.
You cannot spend more than $25.00 on materials and/or supplies needed to create the monsterfied ornament.
Additional items you currently have laying around can be used without counting toward the $25.00 spend limit.
Item must be small enough to actually hang from a tree… So it must be 6 inches or less in length, width and height not including the string.
I am putting a NO NOOSE clause in this challenge’s rules… so please do not create anything that hangs from the tree by the neck… too many implications can be made from that imagery.
The Challenge is open to anyone except Mercatalyst employees. Previous challenge winners are welcome to submit but NOT eligible to win.
All submissions must be added to the reveal thread. The reveal thread will be created on Friday December 10th 2021.
If stuck or need advice on how to do a certain thing I will gladly offer help in this thread so everyone can benefit from it… others are welcome to offer ideas as well.
Posting ideas and updates encouraged in this thread.
THE PRIZE:
3 Winners will receive an IRK.
All 3 IRK boxes will contain items curated personally by KoolHandJoe and will also contain an original Holiday Themed KoolHandJoe creation that has never before been seen.

Oh dang. I was literally telling my friends last night that I wanted to turn something into an ornament… Maybe this is the kick in the pants I needed.

My 6 year old son is still upset that Halloween is over so this will be the perfect way to transition to the Nightmare Before Christmas!!
He made a “zombie head” by drawing on a balloon in October and it’s slowly deflated since.
When we put the tree up a couple days ago he added the “shrunken head” as he now calls it on the Christmas tree.

Lol I was just thinking last night ‘When is the ornament monsterify challenge going to come out?!’ then I read the rules and saw past winners can’t win again. Which makes total sense, but I started to get excited for a @koolhandjoe holiday creation! So I was like ‘Awww bummer!’ Since we’re still welcome to submit a creation just for the fun of it, I’m already tossing around ideas for what I could do and I have my pom poms ready to cheer everyone else on from the sidelines! Good luck everyone!

@Star2236 hey! Sorry for the delay. I got a bunch of cute Halloween themed decor items, a horror figurine from silence of the lambs, a 2pk of the conjuring movies, and an awesome koolhandjoe creation of three doll holds on a wooden box!

Can we post past monsterifications for other gift exchanges? If so, just in case I lose track of this like I did the last one, regard this delightful cheap and spooky ornament set I created from some cheap ass icicles and spare Halloween card embellishments!
If this doesn’t count, let me know, and I’ll see what I can manage.

This is great! Even if I don’t participate in the crafting of a ornament (because procrastination IS REAL and sometimes keeps you frozen in fear like anxiety

Well, I am currently crafting ornaments by making beaded snowflakes. Not so sure I could to a monsterfied ornament, but maybe I can try. I’ll see what I can do….if I don’t get exhausted from making a bunch of stuff for gifts already that is lol
What about tree toppers like the stars on top?
They are usually a bit bigger than standard ornaments.
Will they be allowed?
I have all the ingredients for a fiendish one.
