Nice… That is so amazing… I am super jealous… I have wanted one of those for so bad since I saw my first one 3 years ago… just haven’t been able to afford it… I would totally do a complete Monsterfication on it… add some corpsing to it… but alas… maybe next year
I did get my 7ft one from Walmart last Friday though… Aged him out a bit… I think it came out well
But I plan to get several more bigger props done this year… like I just finished up my Zombie unicorn last weekend
and will finish my ground breaker this weekend… this pic is just the base layer of corpsing (used duct tape and a blowtorch… it was fun)
@Koolhandjoe these look great! I think the 12ft actually debuted last year. That’s why I looked so hard this year because I knew it would sell out quickly.
@RiotDemon They did debut last year at home depot… but I had seen them done as one off commissions… because of some groups I am apart of… the one offs were like $800-$900 and did not have the eyes… but the home depot ones are so great… and way cheaper… but still too pricey for this guy…
I got Georgie from Walmart for $79.00 a little pricier than I would have liked being the 5ft ones are $29 most places… but still totally worth it… I will say after getting him… I do worry about the joints… they are a bit flimsy… just a heads up… but for me it doesn’t matter too much be cause I will be removing the arms and legs and repositioning them so it looks more natural before I corpse it
@Koolhandjoe oooh, good to know. It’s funny that I’ll complain about $80 but I spent like $320 on my big guy… He just makes me so fucking happy when I get home everyday. So, worth it.
@RiotDemon - yours looks great! I’m sure @Koolhandjoe’s is going to be terrifying but yours is amazingly scary with just the red light shining up from below!
Man. I wish y’all lived up here. Our property is an acre with all kinds of hedgerow and crazy paths and I’ve always wanted to make it into a crazy Halloweentown. Methinks it would be epic if we all teamed up. Too bad my laser printer isn’t capable of creating a teleportation device!
The best and to be frank the only Halloween party we ever went to was at an old house in Uniontown, Maryland. The best parts were:
You entered the house by sliding down a coal shoot into the basement, was made to put you hands in a bucket filled with uncooked chicken parts and their was a guy with a chain saw revving the saw up for special effects.
They had a fog machine to create a low cloud level about knee high in the house as you walked around.
I had just left the CPA firm for another job and there was a big tombstone with my name on it and the dates of my employment in the living room.
But the hit of the night was in the bathroom upstairs-their was a dead body with blood splattered all around in the bathtub which you couldn’t see until you got entirely in the bathroom and closed the door. Everyone was handing around outside the bathroom to hear the reaction of people inside (screams mostly) when they saw the body and the massive amounts of blood.
@Kyeh no sounds. I might do some once I set up my projectors. I would only have that the week of Halloween though. Don’t want to make constant noise, lol.
@Kyeh@RiotDemon I have so many dolls in bins in my garage I could for sure pull that off… but alas it is not… I actually do not decorate due to lack of Trick or treat traffic on Halloween… I live too close to a neighborhood that the main street is called Cemetery Hill and that neighborhood goes full throttle and no kids Trick or Treat around our neighbor because of it
I love Halloween time, I can’t wait for the people in my neighborhood to decorate their houses so I can drive by every night. I just wish people would still give me candy on Halloween, I’m to old.
@Kyeh I’m guessing he used massive blocks of foam that he sculpted. It’s definitely next level and has me thinking thoughts that surely would end in divorce. I love that he’s doing it for St judes!
I was at home depot this morning. I didn’t see the skeleton but I did see some dog skeletons that they had arranged around some fake gravestones. If I had not been in a hurry to get back to the house and fix the stupid leaking toilet; I would have arranged one of the dogs to hike a leg on a gravestone.
@Kyeh technically, I could probably grow it, but I tend to kill all my plants. Might be something to look into. I saw some pictures and it didn’t look as dark.
@Kyeh@RiotDemon sorry I totally missed this. Mine varies. I think the light it gets and the age affect the foliage’s overall color. I have a raven zz and if it gets too much light, it’s green and not black. Same with the begonia. It’s currently starting to darken now that it’s getting darker sooner.
@Kyeh yeah, there are much better displays in the neighborhood. I think these people may just be getting started today. I also took the pic while driving and at an angle to not get their house.
Since they’re so hard to come by it may just be a “look what we have” display lol.
I want one of those 12’ skeletons so bad, but it wouldn’t survive the winds we get here, plus the fact we live where hardly anyone would see it anyway. I suggested we get one and put it so it was sitting down in our foyer, but hubby wasn’t into that idea.
I’m boxing up what’s left of our Halloween decorations and taking it over to the vet’s office for the kids there to play with. Use there, take home for personal use, whatever. It makes me sad to see Tigger holding his pumpkin up on the shelf in the garage. He needs a new home.
They’ll get more use out of it than we do.
No kids in two years. Less than five the year before than.
I remember (before trunk and treat and big deal school carnivals) when we had over a hundred kids. Not all were from the immediate neighborhood, there are a lot of apartments about a half mile from here and parents would drive their kids over.
I guess the door to door kids have aged out in our area. Granted, it’s a hard walk here. No sidewalks and very, very hilly. Hard to do if you’re not in shape. (Just ask me, I know.)
I used to love decorating the day of and undecorating the night of.

Please stop using plastic skeletons. They’re not environmentally friendly. Using locally sourced natural human remains is a far more sustainable practice and has a much lower carbon footprint.
@Kyeh@RiotDemon which was pretty rubbish frankly! Granted it could be in part to the whole supply chain issue. Our local store only ever had the display. It never went up for sale. I recently spotted it in a yard near our dog park and the owner turns out to be the store manager and has that one and the pumpkin one. The only two that the OC location were sent. He was at the park with his dog and I happened to mention wanting the giant skeleton. He said they’d ordered a bunch but none were ever shipped to the store. So he pulled them and bought them apparently.

How much was the 7ft?
@RiotDemon They did debut last year at home depot… but I had seen them done as one off commissions… because of some groups I am apart of… the one offs were like $800-$900 and did not have the eyes… but the home depot ones are so great… and way cheaper… but still too pricey for this guy…

@Koolhandjoe my favorite part of this is your t-shirt
@ybmuG it is one on my favorites
@Koolhandjoe
Your skeleton looks WAY better after after you aged him, looks more real. Like that’s the way they should sell them.
@Star2236 a little stain can make all the difference in my opinion
@Koolhandjoe @Star2236
Looking good my friend
Duct tape and a blowtorch make
Everything better
@replicacobra @Star2236 @RiotDemon @Kyeh
Finished up the half skeleton and got him hung on the wall in the office.
@Koolhandjoe @replicacobra @RiotDemon @Star2236
Wow! He’s almost elegant in a way.
@Kyeh @replicacobra @RiotDemon @Star2236 Maybe I should name him Art… cause he is hanging on the wall… like art… DAD-JOKE
@Koolhandjoe @Kyeh @replicacobra @RiotDemon
I like him. He’s popin out to say hello, or hands off don’t touch my shit.
@Koolhandjoe @Kyeh @replicacobra @RiotDemon @Star2236 this reminds me I can finally take Jackson out of his box for halloween, to @srslysoprano’s dismay.

@sillyheathen we might actually rip a hole in space and time if we all combined our powers
@Koolhandjoe @sillyheathen it would be so epic until we all winked out of existence.
@Koolhandjoe @RiotDemon #worthit!
@Koolhandjoe @RiotDemon @sillyheathen
Rip from existence
Perhaps into something else
Something close but… strange
spooky

Update!
@RiotDemon looks spook-tacular!!
@RiotDemon @tinamarie1974
That’s just gooooood. : )
@RiotDemon
Oooooo - love it!!! Are there sound effects?
@RiotDemon I want to trick-or-treat at that house!
@RiotDemon it just made my cold dead heart swoon!
@Kyeh no sounds. I might do some once I set up my projectors. I would only have that the week of Halloween though. Don’t want to make constant noise, lol.
@RiotDemon Hah, true.
Progress.
@RiotDemon this is so fantastic!
/giphy would you be my neighbor?
@RiotDemon
I wish someone would hire you to run a team to do a full metro area decoration.
Miami/FL, perhaps?
Everything: street by street, block by block; excepting where the homeowners or property owners were No Fun and declined.
/giphy “haunted Miami”
@RiotDemon This really shows how huge that skeleton is. I want to live in your neighborhood too.
@RiotDemon
@mfladd @sillyheathen @speediedelivery @f00l
Thank you all so much. I’m hoping I can get some more stuff done soon.
@Koolhandjoe, is this your house?
@Kyeh lol. I saved this picture last year as inspiration. I went in a different direction, but I love it.
@RiotDemon It would take a lot of dolls!
@Kyeh @RiotDemon I have so many dolls in bins in my garage I could for sure pull that off… but alas it is not… I actually do not decorate due to lack of Trick or treat traffic on Halloween… I live too close to a neighborhood that the main street is called Cemetery Hill and that neighborhood goes full throttle and no kids Trick or Treat around our neighbor because of it
@Koolhandjoe @Kyeh @RiotDemon Ooh I have a fair number of dolls too and I have kids that come!
I love Halloween time, I can’t wait for the people in my neighborhood to decorate their houses so I can drive by every night. I just wish people would still give me candy on Halloween, I’m to old.
@Star2236 I give everyone candy. You should stop by.
@sammydog01 @Star2236
It’s my policy
Dole out candy to children
And shots to parents
@replicacobra @sammydog01 @Star2236 great policy!
@replicacobra @sammydog01 @Star2236
In this crazy age
Many interpretations
Of doling out shots…
People who are way into it, like @RiotDemon, make it fun for the rest of the adults who otherwise would barely notice.
/giphy than you thank you thank you.

Okay, this guy outdid everybody.

@Kyeh amazing!!!
@Kyeh that’s so inspiring! I would so be down to do that to my house. Though the Englishman would divorce me.
@sillyheathen His wife must be very tolerant. I hope he has a really large garage or storage shed or something!
@Kyeh I’m guessing he used massive blocks of foam that he sculpted. It’s definitely next level and has me thinking thoughts that surely would end in divorce. I love that he’s doing it for St judes!
@sillyheathen
Some pictures here of the work in progress - a LOT of work, wow!

My lawn is getting mowed today if I doesn’t rain… So more decorations soon.
@RiotDemon I’ll fly down with some hand shears if it rains. The decorating must commence!
@sillyheathen lawn was mowed! Putting out some stuff now and more stuff later this week.
@RiotDemon
/giphy halloweentown
@RiotDemon @sillyheathen
You mean to tell me
You have shears for cutting hands
Taken through TSA?
@RiotDemon I saw this plant online and thought it looked like something you’d have in your house or garden:
@Kyeh I have that in the murder shed!!!
@sillyheathen Oh, I’m not surprised - it suits you, too!
@Kyeh technically, I could probably grow it, but I tend to kill all my plants. Might be something to look into. I saw some pictures and it didn’t look as dark.
@RiotDemon I know, I saw it both ways, greener in some pictures. @sillyheathen, is yours this dark?
@Kyeh Omg, it’s a Jack Skellington plant! I want one.
@mfladd I know - too cool, right?
@Kyeh @RiotDemon sorry I totally missed this. Mine varies. I think the light it gets and the age affect the foliage’s overall color. I have a raven zz and if it gets too much light, it’s green and not black. Same with the begonia. It’s currently starting to darken now that it’s getting darker sooner.
@RiotDemon @sillyheathen
Cool, thanks!
@Kyeh @sillyheathen I’m surprised it can live up there? When I looked it up, it says zones 10-11.
Edit: scratch that! I had no idea that the northwest had some zones that are similar to Florida!
@Kyeh @RiotDemon oh that sucker is indoors darlin! and in response to your edit I am often surprised at what survives up here!
@Kyeh @RiotDemon @sillyheathen
Like, say, an Englishman?
@compunaut @Kyeh @RiotDemon
He doesn’t do well in the southern heat. Delicate flower is that one!
Apparently my neighbors got one of the big boys, as well as a pumpkin-headed cousin I’ve not seen before:
@djslack the pumpkin boy is new for this year! I could of snagged one, but it didn’t fit my graveyard theme.
@djslack I like the classic one much better. That’s not a very imaginative display, but still fun that you’ve got them in your neighborhood!
@Kyeh yeah, there are much better displays in the neighborhood. I think these people may just be getting started today. I also took the pic while driving and at an angle to not get their house.
Since they’re so hard to come by it may just be a “look what we have” display lol.
@djslack Yeah, I’m sure they’re proud to have them!
@djslack @RiotDemon I think they should have licensed Enoch from Over the Garden Wall.
I want one of those 12’ skeletons so bad, but it wouldn’t survive the winds we get here, plus the fact we live where hardly anyone would see it anyway. I suggested we get one and put it so it was sitting down in our foyer, but hubby wasn’t into that idea.
@Pony aww, come on hubby!
@RiotDemon I mean, I guess he has to say no once in a while, but geez.
Here’s a nice cake pan for your parties:
https://www.target.com/p/nordic-ware-haunted-skull-cakelet-pan/-/A-76667409
@Kyeh I have two of those! They’re great for making soap, too.
I did find a photo of one of those big skeletons from downtown- I need to go check it out some day.
@sammydog01 I love it! I wonder how much they spent to modify it.
/giphy excellent skeleton
Look what I bought.
@sammydog01 What flavor is it ???
@Kyeh I don’t know.
/giphy it’s a mystery
@Kyeh I absolutely love the box.
@sammydog01 Yeah, it’s very cool!
So are you waiting til Halloween to taste it?
@Kyeh Sometime in October. Last year it was Skittles flavor. I drank it anyway.
@sammydog01 I guess making it a popular Halloween candy flavor makes sense - maybe it will be candy corn!
@Kyeh It was candy corn flavored two years ago.
@sammydog01 Oh, that figures!
I’m boxing up what’s left of our Halloween decorations and taking it over to the vet’s office for the kids there to play with. Use there, take home for personal use, whatever. It makes me sad to see Tigger holding his pumpkin up on the shelf in the garage. He needs a new home.

Time to pack it up, mehtizens.
The only things I have done to decorate are in Animal Crossing. And putting a Halloween shirt on Cat-baby.
Maybe I’ll get to making a wreath tonight. I’m such a slacker.
The 12ft skeleton has made the news…
https://www.businessinsider.com/home-depot-skeleton-lawn-decoration-selling-out-popular-online-tiktok-2021-9
@mfladd he even has his own Facebook and Reddit groups.
Scalpers are ruining it for the people that want him. It sucks. I’m so lucky I was able to get one.
I am still working on my yard. It’s so hot! Ugh!
Hoping to finish Wednesday. More pix to come.
And I say finish… But the yard is never finished. Always updating.

speaking of skeletons
@Felton10 i think the scientific term is homoerectus
@Koolhandjoe Thought there would be more interesting comments like yours re this video.
@Felton10 you might say no one is UP to the challenge… it can be HARD to find the right thing to say… but I did not want you to feel SHAFTED
@Felton10 @Koolhandjoe
@RiotDemon Sorry, I saw the story in the Apple news feed and searched online to get a direct link, but chose the wrong one. Here’s the one I meant to post:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/style/home-depot-12-foot-skeleton-inferno/2021/10/24/dff4fb76-32ac-11ec-a1e5-07223c50280a_story.html
So Home Depot is promising to up the ante for next year:

@Kyeh that article was from 2020. I think upping the ante was this year’s pumpkin skeleton.
@Kyeh @RiotDemon which was pretty rubbish frankly! Granted it could be in part to the whole supply chain issue. Our local store only ever had the display. It never went up for sale. @RiotDemon @sillyheathen Yeah, and then suddenly they were all over eBay for hugely inflated prices. Fucking scalpers.
@Kyeh @RiotDemon it’s insane! I saw a few in the PDX area for sale but all for over 1k.
I don’t do Halloween at all, but saw this and thought some of y’all might like it.
