Egg Nog, just lightly enhanced with good bourbon. Or plain, still good. We tried home made one year (Alton Brown’s recipe) and it was really good but just getting store bought this year.
Today, my GF’s BIL wanted to open the bottle of Heaven’s Gate Tennessee Bourbon (10 year) his brother gave him last night so I had a really good bourbon with a splash of water (twice). And some Merlot with dinner.
Now that I’m back home, I’ll probably have some rye before I head to bed.
@llangley will do. My uncle tried to give me a bottle of red wine and he said, “Because you drink wine, right?” And I told him not really, but thanked him anyway. So he goes back to his bar and grabs the Stroopwaffel. Apparently he had too many bottles on his bar. I’m glad I told him no, because I might actually like the Stroopwaffel. It’s imported from the Netherlands. He’s Dutch. I’m surprised he gave it away.
@llangley oh my God. It’s delicious. Tried a bit on its own and then I mixed it with some milk since I don’t drink coffee. I might try it in some hot chocolate later.
@RiotDemon Your uncle is truly awesome!! Glad you liked it but it’s early to be drinking?? You have, however, inspired me…I just added some bourbon to mine, aaaahhh but will pick up some Stroopwaffel on my next run!
@llangley haha. Our Christmas celebration spilled over into today. Got home late yesterday and didn’t feel like finishing wrapping and doing all that so we decided to celebrate this morning. The table is set for breakfast and all the gifts are under the tree. We will decorate gingerbread later.
We could not find this item at Leesburg, VA. But we found it at Sacramento (Arden), CA
I am in northern PA so the “nearby” store is in Leesburg but they don’t have it so I will just jaunt over to Sacramento
I will try to remember to check the state store next time I go. I just got some regular Bailey’s for Christmas. The pumpkin spice was on sale so I tried it, not impressed but drinkable. The chocolate covered cherry is really good and the carmel is good but below the cherry on my list.
I think I’m going to have a Suburban or three tomorrow (or today, depending upon when you’re reading this. Or for that matter yesterday, or some time ago…). A perfect winter drink:
Ingredients
1 1/2 ounces whiskey – rye whisky
1/2 ounce rum – dark rum
1/2 ounce port
1 dash orange bitters
1 dash Bitters – Angostura bitters
cocktail glass
Instructions:
Stir well with cracked ice, then strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
a nice pour of smokey low land scotch wiskey with a splash of water in it sipped either looking out the window or outside on the deck depending on how crappy the weather is.
Apple cider and cinnamon whiskey, please.
@melonscoop This sounds good! I have to try it.
Glass of Buffalo Trace neat
I don’t drink cocktails, but of the choices offered in the poll, I do like non alcoholic Egg nog and hot chocolate.
Whisky, neat.
Eggnog, but don’t forget a good shot of bourbon in there, preferably Wild Turkey.
Just for winter time (the eggnog part, that is.)

We also make mulled cider most years.
12 year old single malt scotch
I was just thinking of a flaming rum punch…
No, it’s not cold enough for that, not nearly cold enough…
Wait a minute, wait a minute - I got it…
Mulled wine, heavy on the cinnamon and light on the cloves.
Off with you, me lad, and be lively!
@DennisG2014 Out you two pixies go, through the door or out the window!
Bloody Mary
Mulled Mead
Bought this year from Casemates
@Cerridwyn dilly dilly.
Sparkling grape juice
Mulled cider, or if I’m feeling more alcoholy, mulled wine.
Coquito of course!
@steveml yummy! I have some on the ready.
Tequila
Irish coffee, double shot
@stolicat And here I thought your answer would be…
We always have the eggnog with rum. And I like it but, I’ve never had a hot buttered rum and it just sounds darn good. I want one.
Whiskey with a candy cane stir stick.
@Ignorant
Fireball
Not even an hour into Christmas, and I’ve already downed a bunch of mimosas.
We would usually drink a Bailey’s on Christmas.
I don’t think I’ll be drinking anything this year. I don’t miss it that much.

I was gifted a bottle of Stroopwaffel liqueur. Maybe I’ll have a taste this week.

@RiotDemon sounds delicious, maybe a Bailey’s substitute in coffee… let us know!!

It’s cheap! $12.99 a bottle.

We won’t make this a habit, will we?

We are all procrastinators. Oops.
@llangley @RiotDemon It does sound good. Amusing when I clicked the link…

Gluehwein, if it is fresh.
Brandy Alexander.

@shahnm you lost me at…port! Otherwise I’d try it!
Mimosa.
Or sorta like a mimosa. A splash of Patrón, a glug of orange/mango juice topped with a champaign like beverage. Repeat as necessary.
Christmastide cocktail has gotta be Wassail with a good brandy and ale mixed in!
@evbarnstormer That sounds like a boilermaker…
@shahnm I thought a boilermaker was a shot dumped into a beer. Wassail is closer to mulled cider but with more to it, and drank hot.
@evbarnstormer I missed the first part of that apparently. I saw “brandy and ale mixed in”…
a nice pour of smokey low land scotch wiskey with a splash of water in it sipped either looking out the window or outside on the deck depending on how crappy the weather is.
@bayportbob If you want the fireplace experience, you can actually build a smoky fire, rather than drinking it…
@bayportbob @shahnm or smoke your own!
Not a video, it wouldn’t load so I grabbed a screenshot…
Vodka.
Glögg please
Good hot chocolate, plain, no alcohol, no marshmallow.
Eggnog latte. Having one right now.
