Cardboard Roofing shingles with this sticky jelly like substanc flavoured roofing tar in the middle
There. Fixed it up for ya.
Srsly, I hate them and I never eat them. And then a few years pass and I forget how awful they are and I buy a box, eat one, remember the nastiness, give away the rest and I’m good for another few years. WTF is my issue? Why must I repeat this cycle of madness? I guess I’ll blame the pictures on the box which makes them actually appear edible rather than construction materials.
A disappointment. About once a year I momentarily forget that I’m not impressed with them. I’ll see a flavor that seems like just what I want. So I’ll crack open the bag and have one cold. Gaak! Cardboard with some bizarre fatty texture and insanely sweet gummy filling. Maybe it will taste better after it’s been toasted! Now it’s hot cardboard with some bizarre fatty texture and insanely sweet gummy filling. And now I have an edgy nasty sugar buzz. I want to wipe the fatty texture out of my mouth with a paper towel and kill the taste with some hot black coffee, except then I’d have an edgy nasty caffeine and sugar buzz.
So, disappointment. The better sounding the flavor, the bigger the disappointment.
Pop-tarts are in that category of, “How desperate and hungry am I?” If I’m just living my life minding my own business and everything’s going great…but I’m eating a pop-tart?! That’s a situation I just don’t understand.
I am barging in here just to say I love Pop Tarts and don’t get people who say they taste bad. My favorite flavors are probably S’mores and Wild Berry, but I will eat most of them happily. Maybe it’s because I grew up on them.
@PooltoyWolf@sammydog01 I like them too, my favorite flavor is Cookies and Cream. My BF loves the Blueberry with no frosting, which tastes like blueberry pie. You can only get those at really big Walmart stores. And only in the big boxes.
@PooltoyWolf i love them too! But maybe because my mom never bought them when I was growing up, they were something I would occasionally get at a friends house. So yummy
@PooltoyWolf My favorite version, back when I ate them, was the frosted apple cinnamon, toasted, with butter added to the unfrosted side. Toast, butter the backside, then let them sit for a few minutes for the butter to soak into the “pastry” and the lava filling to slightly cool.
Once caught one of my kids toasting a chocolate Pop-tarts, cutting it in half and putting a scoop of ice cream between the slices. How can you fuss at a kid for being a culinary genius? Did you ever suck the jelly out of a jelly donut and then fill it with chocolate-swirl ice cream?
Pop-Tarts are “toaster pastries.”
Cardboard with this sticky jelly like substance in the middle.
/giphy yuck!
@tinamarie1974 His eyebrows should have their own acting career.
@Targaryen ooohhh you are right! Nice observation

@ruouttaurmind oh, that IS better. Thank you!
/giphy bad for you
All I know is that a Pizza Roll ain’t a “roll”.
@medz or a pizza.
Pop-tarts are nasty.
@Barney Sure they’re no Toaster Strudels but I like them.
@Barney @sammydog01 they good
@Barney @donkeyman @sammydog01 no, no, no, no

Sandwich radicalists would say Pop-Tarts are a sandwich.
Otherwise, Pop-Tarts are kinda good- Toaster Pastries were superior (that icing ruled!).

All I know is that pop tarts cereal is a major letdown.
I know this! Just follow the Cube Rule. It’s a calzone.
@kdemo That was what I was using as the basis for my post.
@Targaryen - See how smart you are?
I qualify for a meh coupon now, right?
I would say if they were actually food rather than roofing materials, they would most closely resemble strudel.
Oh dang! It’s all so clear now.
@ruouttaurmind So, what you’re saying is they started out as Pup-Tarts?
@LaVikinga
/giphy So dumb, yet so brilliant.
Pop Tarts = sugar delivery system.
Pop tarts are a stuffed crust pizza
Also the only good flavor is brown sugar and cinnamon

@PooltoyWolf I like the chocolate ones with vanilla filling. And the frosted raspberry. And especially the pumpkin spice ones.

@sammydog01 I was not aware there was a Pumpkin Spice Pop-Tarts flavor! Ill have to try it next time
@PooltoyWolf @sammydog01 eewwwwweeee.

@LaVikinga That sounds delicious.
It is a strange tasting pastry. Always has been. Not remotely related to the Italian dishes listed in the intro.
