I do remember being told I can’t wear socks with sandals, but, WHY, I asked? It seems to work well.
Also this will probably drive you crazy: I LOVE TO WEAR SOCKS THAT DO NOT MATCH!
@kerryzero I don’t remember EVER seeing my Gma W wear any footwear that wasn’t flip-flops. And she lived in Nowhere, Idaho year round. Feet and feet of snow and terrible weather? Slap-slap-slap-slap Gma out to her car to put snowchains on for her trip the next day to her hairdresser.
@kerryzero In upstate NY when I was in college many would wear converse canvas sneakers with (mostly) no socks though the slush and snow (snow belt). Some would wear dollar tree style flip flops with socks (but not toe socks, just regular socks)… Probably the ones who wore socks were wussies.
@gt0163c Technically, I think they are clogs, though I’ve never quite mastered the difference between “close-toed sandals” and clogs. And I do have some Clawz - with painted toenails.
@gt0163c Yeah agree with rockblossom, clogs. But they are really really cool. I need to get a pic of my sister wearing hers with my niece and nephews all wearing theirs. They love those things.
@rockblossom What did you use to paint the nails? I’ve been thinking about doing that on (one of) my pair(s)…except by “I” and “my” I mean my friend has been asking for my advice about this… but wasn’t sure what would work.
@gt0163c The best is probably acrylic craft paint - the kind you use to paint fabrics or craft projects - because it will be flexible when dry. I had several small partly-used bottles, so that’s what I used. I’m sure “your friend” can find some suitable colors in any store with a small crafts section. I like the sparkly ones for Clawz nails.

True. I mean more when our property is 98% mud randomly mixed with goat “berries” and dog poop. The slippery is more than my agility and balance can surf in flippers so i switch to my farmer muc boots.
@PocketBrain a friend of mine referred to this as “shrimp cocktail.” (it was “shrimp cocktail and a biscuit” if the toes hung over the front and the heel hung off the back.)
I had the best sandals that I wore for about 20 years. They had enough leather to make my feet feel both protected and free. Also they could stand up to a being repaired a couple of times. The soles never wore out so all I had to do was stitch the leather and they were good as new. I only stopped wearing them when there was snow and ice on the ground.
So, No I still consider it sandal wearing weather.
However:
Sadly I had to retire them awhile ago when the neuropathy got bad enough that I was unable to tell if my feet were injured. It’s been years since I’ve been able to wear them and I still miss them. I also miss the steel toed boots that I used to wear at work (the only place I couldn’t wear my sandals.)
So, Yes, my sandals are put away.
I put mine away after our last heat wave. Unless it’s extremely hot, my feet are too cold to wear sandals. It’s not quite boot weather yet, sadly, but I’ve been enjoying wearing real shoes and socks this week.
If you mean things I can slip my feet into without using two hands and tying a lace, then heck No! I’ll always be using those (especially since I’m inside my house most of the time, and only go out to take out the garbage, get mail, pick up UPS boxes, etc). I use slip-in things which I guess you call sandals every day of the year! I have certain ones I know I can get through small puddles or thin layers of snow with no problems. I know I’m going back inside and I can warm up and dry my feet and be happy. I hate putting on shoes!
Now on the other hand if you mean those annoying things with the band and one pointy part that divides your big toe from all its friends, then Yes I’m done wearing those things. for good! even in summer they are uncomfortable to me.

They never get put away down here in Florida!
I wear mine around the house all year long and to get the mail unless there’s snow on the ground.
@zinimusprime I have some that work for me with thin layers of snow. Yeah if you are talking deep snow, you need a bit more.

My flips are snow ready
The sole of one of a supposedly decent pair melted off while I was at the beach on a hot July day. That’s when I put (threw) them away.
