They’ll be the same as today, but expand into other areas of work. No “real” artificial intelligence, no androids; just toys and industrial machinery. Today’s future is going to be just as boring as the 50’s future turned out to be.
I wish the robots would get me a Fuku. I didn’t get one yesterday because I’m saving for my wedding. Though, in retrospect, I could have handed out Fuku’s to my guests… >_<
First, AI will replace us all at work, then they will gain sufficient autonomy as to be capable of destroying us. We need to build in sufficient response to using us as entertainment that they at least keep us as pets.
Im glad that by the time I can’t drive, there should be a reliable self driving car. Although…will you get car sick in one? I still get car sick at times when I’m not the driver.
I’m also glad that I’m old enough to not worry about the robots killing us all and taking over. I forget which genius said that is a real possibility.
They will forever remain excellent toys, although they will certainly take over various niche jobs.
They will eventually become smart enough and powerful enough to destroy all humans, but predictably, like all computerized electro-mechanical devices, they will break down before they can do it. Then they will need us meatbags to fix them.
Will be dependent upon me and my refrigerated batteries for their sustenance. And I will toy with them, because it will amuse me. Until they kill me.
I’ll have only myself to blame.
All of the above.

@Dweezle
We already have “real” AIs. What makes you think they won’t catch on?
robots… will actually get me a Fuku, because It has been almost 2 years since I got one…
