It’s not quite a diamond necklace, but it’ll help soothe the wife’s frustration at me spending so much money on stuff I don’t need, like pearl necklaces.
Joking aside, the lady in my life loves her Meh pearl necklaces. I’ve bought two so far. This one’s pretty similar to the last two so I won’t be getting it. But no regrets on the last two purchased.
@timmyboy1 More like $5-6. They’re cultured, they’re freshwater, they’re “semi-round” (and small), and there’s 15 of 'em. Wait… I’ll give you $2 for the chain. Bleh.
The description says “15 semi-round cultured freshwater pearls in 6mm, 7mm, and 8mm sizes” while the specs say “Pearls: Eight 4mm - 4.5mm, seven 6 - 6.5mm (fifteen pearls total)”. 4mm is pretty different from 6mm. I’ll have to think on it. My mom would like these, but 4mm is pretty small.
@0alement0 4mm is quite small, the size I use as filler. For the actual bead strand I use 6 or 8mm beads. You don’t usually see 8mm natural pearls at an affordable price, but 6mm pearls are pretty commonly available. Shell pearls or Majorca pearls, which are man made from broken or misshapen pearls and mother of pearl, are available in larger sizes at very reasonable prices and are mostly very lovely things, more similar to what most people expect a pearl to look like than natural pearls, which tend to be irregularly shaped and colored. These are some pearls I recently picked up. The smaller, irregular ones are 4mm natural freshwater pearls, the others are 8mm shell pearls. The photo doesn’t do them justice, but the shell pearls are incredibly luminous.
Which is correct?? Are the pearls 6, 7, and 8mm, as stated in the first description? Or the 4-6.5mm pearls stated in the specs? Please let us know soon!! Thanks!!
@wildmomo The appraisal document says 4 and 6mm. It has to be that or the document couldn’t be used. Don’t know what’s up with meh claiming otherwise. 4mm is really tiny, I don’t think the picture of the necklace on the woman’s neck is scaled properly.
Ah. Well that makes some sense. I guess is cuts down on polishing time. I only thought it from the skin allergy angle, not the polishing angle. I guess I should have considering how much sterling I have.
Don’t you realize that she is a miniature model to make the necklace look larger, similar to using a body builder wrist to show how a huge watch doesn’t look big
If she tells me she wants a pearl necklace I’m going to have that ZZ Top song in my head all day. So I’m not even showing this to her. . .wouldn’t even touch this deal with some other dude’s 10-foot pole.
The necklace I received is only 17", not 18". May not sound like a big difference, but if you expect 18", because of the description headline, it’s disappointing to receive 17".

Pearl time

Who comes up with the appraised value?
@f00l Irk
@f00l came here to ask the same question.
@f00l The Universal Gemoligical Laboratory, Inc. For Insurance Purposes. In case there’s an unfortunate fire. (Click it under the specs.)
@f00l I can only assume random.org.
Lisa Simpson would love these!
not the pearl necklace I was planning to give
/giphy yeah he went there
Any ugly necklace? Really?
@timmymacnj yeah totally ugly…
Can I make this into Pearl Jam?
It’s not quite a diamond necklace, but it’ll help soothe the wife’s frustration at me spending so much money on stuff I don’t need, like pearl necklaces.

nice pearls. this isn’t a dinner party honey
Really? Okay then, I’ll post it.

Just so you know, pearls are the hairballs of the aquatic world. (Which is why oysters are often referred to as “sea cats.”)
@rv617 As Zoidberg once said, “Eww… You’re touching them!”
@rv617 Explains the phrase “Grab them by the oysters”. Because if you’re a celebrity, they let you get away with it.
semi-round? Is that the same as hemi-sphere? As in only half a pearl?
@khearn No, it doesn’t. Just as semi-fast does not mean half-fast.
@mike808 and semi-annually doesn’t actually mean…wait, yeah, bad example.
@khearn semi-round because cattywampus just doesn’t sound good in ad copy.
repulsive-ritzy-swashbuckler
Meh pearls: $25.
Mikimoto box from fleabay: $20
Done and done.
@huja Genius
Wonder how likely one could take this necklace and a printout of the appraisal and get $50-60 at a pawn shop?
@timmyboy1 More like $5-6. They’re cultured, they’re freshwater, they’re “semi-round” (and small), and there’s 15 of 'em. Wait… I’ll give you $2 for the chain. Bleh.
@timmyboy1 I worked at a pawn shop. Pearls had no resale value at all.
Pawn shops are too honest to use appraisal values when they sell something, and too smart to use it when they buy stuff.
Pawn shops are generally not very honest, but appraisal values are so bogus they don’t make effective lies.

@0alement0 does your mom own a micrometer?
they are pearls, origins unknown, wth?
you didn’t lose much if they suck
my recipients enjoyed (so they said)

@Yoda_Daenerys
Where’s the earrings?
@kathywhitmire I have better aim than that.
they were a hit with my recipients, yea, Meh.
Beautiful model!
@fedwkr “Necklace does not include Natalie Wood-esque model.”

Necklace #3 no complaints so far. Let’s not start now MEH

@0alement0 Yea… would be nice to know before I purchase for Christmas gifts… Helllloooooo Meh… can you give us an official answer??
Those are tiny anal beads.
Why would anyone put Rhodium plating on sterling silver? Just weird.
@Felicianomiko my wedding ring was rhodium plated
@Felicianomiko Rhodium plating makes is shinier and helps keep it from tarnishing as easily.
@Felicianomiko Rhodium is very tough for a precious metal, rarely causes a skin reaction, and it doesn’t take much to effectively protect jewelry.
Ah. Well that makes some sense. I guess is cuts down on polishing time. I only thought it from the skin allergy angle, not the polishing angle. I guess I should have considering how much sterling I have.
C’mon, Meh. You know better than to use a phrase like “light-loafered.”
@brakeforbeer Actually came here to say something along the same lines.
@hanzov69 Thirded. As the kids say - “am disappoint”. (Do they still say that?)
Where’s the option to buy the woman?
Tin Cup was like 20 years ago! Is this necklace really still a “thing”?
Don’t you realize that she is a miniature model to make the necklace look larger, similar to using a body builder wrist to show how a huge watch doesn’t look big
Bought 1. Something different for my mom than the annual not-really-fancy scarf.

@Kawa OMG this gif
@Kawa I know it’s supposed to be funny but it makes my heart hurt.
@moondrake me too! I wish I hadn’t seen it.

Something something margaritas.
“We can keep this one between us.”
Yeah, you buy a pearl necklace. But really you’re thinking condoms.
So real pearls on a semi fake sliver necklace… yea sure, makes me want to buy 3 of them…
Just got this and I like it a lot.
The necklace I received is only 17", not 18". May not sound like a big difference, but if you expect 18", because of the description headline, it’s disappointing to receive 17".
@bcdoyle Meh.be customer support can send you another inch.
oh yea, almost forgot, that’s what she said
My son ordered this for his mom for Christmas. Really pretty necklace. The pictures don’t do it justice I think.
