@heartny Seriously. I don’t see why this magic wand has to only have one charge on it.
My family’s fine, or whatever, but every other thing on that list could use some serious attention that it’s not going to get.
@Mehrocco_Mole You can buy good health care with money. And with enough money, one could even spend the time they really should to do healthy things like eat right and exercise.
My wife and I bought a new house, our second. We’ve been slaving away trying to get the first ready to put on the market. The process has just been draaaaaggggggiiiiinnnng out forever. It sucks even worse knowing that all the money I’m putting into it will see absolutely no return, as we’re not even sure we’ll be able to get someone to buy it for what we paid. I mean, we bought after the crash, but this area (west of Baltimore) simply hasn’t rebounded.
Anyways, just having that house gone and my life back and whatever proceeds back in savings will improve my life considerably. Can. Not. Wait.
@bsci87 To the south in Woodlawn/Windsor Mill, right around the corner from Security Square Mall. Not that bad of a drive to Owings Mills, used to hit up the BJs up there when we had a membership.
@smigit2002 Man, I so want to be rid of my property in Orlando. Still forty grand less than what it was worth when purchased. At least the down-payment put it above water.
@PocketBrain damn, that sucks. After improvements, we’re probably the same. Hell, even if it sold for what we paid, I’d be $20k in the hole. Only bright side is that we had accelerated our payments, so we should at least walk away with some cash.
So we’re all poor. Fuck that. You were all suppposed to be so rich you’d give me money and make me rich too, and with all your wealth you wouldn’t even notice.
Dammit, I need some Customer Service. Product here ain’t up to spec.
I have decent looks, good health (and great family history), hate most people enough to make me okay with my social life, make plenty of money (though I’d never turn down more), my family is close, and if I want a mental skill then don’t mind learning it. But I am clumsy, and that makes learning most physical skills difficult. If I could get rid of that, whoo, I’d only be able to complain about nature and other people.
@simplersimon Lots of blessings to be thankful for there, but you’re right about that being clumsy.
I hate dropping things, and the damn floor gets lower every year.
@f00l Well, I am one semester away from getting my Associate’s in Graphic Design. Money would be extremely helpful right now because I plan on moving out of state. I would like to go to another college, but big loans scare me. The money would take care of college and moving.
However, if I already had the knowledge/experience, I could produce a killer portfolio now and save myself years of training. I already feel behind since I did not find my passion until I was 31. I am now 35.
Then there is the health option. I am actually quite healthy. I’m not worried about anything at the moment, but health is everything and something could happen at any point in our lives and take away our future. We should never take it for granted.
In the end, I chose Knowledge. I have been doing some internships over the past 2 years and I’m ready to find that career now. I think that would give me the most happiness in life.
My health. Return to my former healthy self, before being stricken by the devastating, crippling tumor that ended my long professional career, and my ability to earn a living. I miss working. I am blessed though, with a wonderful, beautiful, and loving wife who takes care of me, two remaining adult children (we lost our middle child, age 30, 3 1/2 years ago), and six, soon to be seven, grandchildren. Had this not happened, I would have my postgrad degree that I was about to start on two months after I was stricken, most likely my doctoral, and I would be published. My education would have been paid for by my employer. Your health is everything.
I chose activity. I’d like to clean the house like I used to. Vacuum the walls and that nasty popcorn ceiling. Wash all the windows and scrub the screens. Have a sparkling clean floor.
I know a clean house would lift my spirits immensely.
I need to get to the gym. I’m 32, chubby and weak, and surviving the next four years is going to require mental and physical strength I lack. I can at least build the physical strength in theory, but man, every time I look up how to get started with strength training, I start to smell burnt toast.
@sanspoint You have to start somewhere. Start with walking more and cut out sugary drinks. Next time you go to the store, park farther away from the entrance. Force yourself to walk.
My mental health. If I could get that in shape, most of the rest would fall into line. It’s amazing how a fucked up brain proceeds to fuck up everything else, quite efficiently.
Seems that many of society’s high achievers (those who are not in a creative field or tech/scientific field) often either have excellent mental health or possess the ability to delude themselves into believing they have excellent mental health.
Wonder what it’s like having a balanced intellectual and emotional state of mind and having consistently excellent judgement and won of those “leadership” personalities?
Only one aspect? How about all of the above?
Similarly …
My five point plan to improve everyone’s efficiency:
@heartny Seriously. I don’t see why this magic wand has to only have one charge on it.
My family’s fine, or whatever, but every other thing on that list could use some serious attention that it’s not going to get.
What good is money without good health?
@Mehrocco_Mole You can buy good health care with money. And with enough money, one could even spend the time they really should to do healthy things like eat right and exercise.
First we get the money, then we get the power, then we get the women.
@bsci87
If I had all the sex and drugs I wanted, I wouldn’t need rock and roll.
@MehnofLaMehncha
No. you would still need the music to go with.
@bsci87 i think you mean the sugar.

@smigit2002 Any chance in the Owings Mills area?
@bsci87 To the south in Woodlawn/Windsor Mill, right around the corner from Security Square Mall. Not that bad of a drive to Owings Mills, used to hit up the BJs up there when we had a membership.
@smigit2002 rent it out for tax incentives
@smigit2002 Man, I so want to be rid of my property in Orlando. Still forty grand less than what it was worth when purchased. At least the down-payment put it above water.
@astroglide tempting, and I’ve seriously considered it, but the wife doesn’t want to deal with the hassle
@PocketBrain damn, that sucks. After improvements, we’re probably the same. Hell, even if it sold for what we paid, I’d be $20k in the hole. Only bright side is that we had accelerated our payments, so we should at least walk away with some cash.
Learn a new language, like C++ or Korean.
Of course, I’d have to first learn to not be so lazy.
So we’re all poor. Fuck that. You were all suppposed to be so rich you’d give me money and make me rich too, and with all your wealth you wouldn’t even notice.

If I could immediately improve one aspect of my life, it would be getting a Fukubukuro.
(or a Fukobukuro)

This was the most thought provoking poll I’ve answered in over a year.
@Lrok

@Lrok
V much thx for thoughtful answer.
I too am leary of the people getting stuck in student loan monster. Tho many prob have no other choice.
I choose: Be filthy rich due to my extreme good looks and perfect health.
@daveinwarsh
Can they see your glow from space?
@f00l Hmmm… that would count as a talent?
@daveinwarsh
it would count as a something. I think you could get movie and tv work as a special effect, or perhaps be on the coast as a lighthouse.
Finances. Am college. Am broke.
I chose
except I won’t reveal it, so…
My mood.

I want to be somewhere other than where I am for a few days. (I need a vacation.)
My self discipline. It has been sorely lacking lately. It fits none of your options. Meh.

@lisaviolet Awww. You wouldn’t happen to live near Springfield, IL, would you? I would come help you clean.
@Lrok San Diego. Thank you!

@sanspoint
Best time to plant an oak tree is 100 years ago.
The second best time is today.
@Lrok I live in NYC. I walk a lot, and I don’t have a car. And I don’t drink sugary soda. That’ll only get me so far.

Gotta admit, this is a big one.
Wonder what it’s like having a balanced intellectual and emotional state of mind and having consistently excellent judgement and won of those “leadership” personalities?
To improve finances, you may want to check this out. The process has worked well for me so far.
I’d start 2016 over again.
@moondrake
Good thought there.
