It’s that time again where we wrap up our blames and unblames to our current goat @JnKL and shift this meh tradition onto another mehmber here.

According to Wikipedia, October was the “eighth month in the old calendar of Romulus”, but “retained its name (from the Latin ôctō meaning “eight”) after January and February were inserted into the calendar that had originally been created by the Romans.”

Coincindentally, it’s also National Pizza Month!

It drives me nuts that those are not months 7,8,9, and 10.

IMO the new year should just begin in March. The month numbers could be fixed, plus spring would start at the beginning of the year.

  The reason they are no longer months 7,8,9, and 10 in order is because Emperor Julius Ceasar (Yes, that Julius Ceasar) decided he wanted his own month named after himself.
  
  The result? July.
  
  Then, when Emperor Augustus Ceasar came along, he decided that he too was equally deserving of his own month.
  
  The result? August.
  
  Hence, September, the old 7th month got pished back to become the 9th month we know today.
