Thirty-five bucks is more than I pay for my prescription glasses because I am a cheapskate. Brand names disimpress me most of the time. This is not an exception.
@werehatrack I recently retired. I had an MSA benefit with money left in it and it was a use-it-or-lose-it situation, so I splurged on my first-ever pair of prescription sunglasses. Name brand frames, polarized, etc. - $300+. I am putting them to good use this summer as I enjoy reading outside and the new shades make it much more pleasant.
@werehatrack I’m right with you on the brand name items!
I just recently saw this story about a woman stealing someone’s shower shoes at a water park.
I was surprised to see that Gucci is selling $290 flip flops, that someone is buying them, and that apparently people recognize and covet them.
What could possibly be so fantastic about them that my $5 pair wouldn’t have?
I get that people like the fancy shit with the names. When it comes to sunglasses, I’d prefer something $10 or less. My current pair is swag from a company event (and I’m pretty sure that they cost a couple bucks each). I’ve actually bought (and am using regularly) those blue-blocker readers y’all been selling. Sell something decent at about $10 and I’m in. I’m also willing to wear those tacky sunglasses that fit over my prescriptions (not the flips, the big boxy ones), because I care more about the functionality than if you think I’m stylin’. Please sell that stuff.
Whoa!! That story is harsh. I had a similar but different thing happen to me when my ex Ray said that he couldn’t return to the States because there was a Ban on travel out of Luxottica.
@haydesigner Just bought polarized Radians Revelation safety (sun)glasses for < $10 @ Amazon. Replaces pair of 2-yr old V30 Nemesis available for < $20.
Went to try and order them. But since the pictures aren’t labeled with the style, I thought it was to risky to assume that the style I was guessing would be what I would get. Order aborted…

Meh, indeed.

Didn’t Hugo Boss design some uniforms? Some real distinctive uniforms?
@jaynedough you know, I think you’re reich.
@jaynedough I did not see this kind of shade being thrown. (see what I did there with the pun switcharoo. You thought I’d zig, but I zagged!)
@jaynedough @submariner Say what you want about the Nazis, but their uniforms did look sharp.
@jaynedough @submariner @Trinityscrew it’s true. They had the bad guy super villain look before it was even a thing.
@jaynedough
@ExtraMedium @jaynedough I did “not see” that coming.

@jaynedough Huh. learn something new every day I guess
All sunglasses sound the same when I step on them.

@growyoungagain This is one of the better descriptions we’ve had recently. Kudos or whatever.

@stinks Thank youuuu!!!
Especially as they appear not to be Polarized®.
You can buy polarized sunglasses at Costco for $30.

@compunaut nice! But given the state of Amazon these days, I’m not sure if trust word of any seller that they were actually polarized.
@haydesigner Good point. The packaging indicates they are, but I’ll check them when I get home.
Hmm.
Would’ve been nice if these were polarized.

You got any aviators to make me look as cool as Biden?
@phendrick Don’t think it will work without the hair plugs too.
@phendrick are you Biden your time ?
@AttyVette Sometimes, when I go into hidin’.
(But, Texas, no basement…)
Eh. Need a backup pair for the other car.

@pupator That can be fixed cheaper than my situation: I need a backup car for my other pair.
Are they polarized ? Because that is not mentioned.
I’m assuming all are non-polarized???

@pjhealy I see names? Soft square, black aviator, gold aviator, black square classic, havana square classic , square modern in order. Hope that helps.
Those Blu-blockers make you look like Hugo Boss when you tell people to get off your lawn.
Umm these glasses are HUG-o ones— you wear them and your main Squeez hugs you or maybe not !
My current pair of sunglasses are a cheap promotional pair from a Pizza Hut so…yeah. I need good ones.
