I’m retired from my job, but there is plenty of work waiting for me on the 30 acres right outside my door.

Turns out I had to preside over not only the pumping of my own tank, but then drive over to MIL’s and deal with that one too. That’s a lot of shit (1100 gallons, total), but at least now it is done for years to come.
But when I did, I drove my own car. Likely what I’ll do when I go back to work, too. Been a stay at home mom for >8 years. Though I’m hoping I find a job where my transportation to / from work is walking to the computer at home
When I worked full time (as a Computer Hardware tech) I drove my car to the different locations that had computer that had been Broken by someone else, “Not” by the user!
I hope that people that buy this Hoverboard aren’t seeing you soon in the ER… I don’t think they are safe, and as far as catching fire, I wouldn’t trust that either. A Neighbor’s garage caught on fire as he left RC car batteries plugged in to charge. Lucky he was home and caught it. Had to move out for a few months so their home could be repaired. Lucky they were able to repair, Not Replace. Beware of rechargeable batteries. And if the Fire Dept had gone to the Garage instead of the front door, they would have had less to repair…

There’s definitly a learning curve bc as soon as you step on them they go so your balance has to be spot on and you have to be ready to go. I’ve only tried once but fell a few times before I gave up. My neighbor has one and is really good at it, he rides around the whole neighborhood.
@Mandamm Rechargeable batteries in general are not an issue. It’s volatile lithium polymer cells, when poorly made and/or improperly charged and maintained, that cause severe problems. See also: Samsung Galaxy Note 7.
@DocJRoberts I wish we had better public transportation in my city. I always use public transportation when I travel to places that have efficient systems.
@DocJRoberts Years ago at a previous job I tried to figure out if I could take a bus to get to work and back home. Based on the schedules I would be spending about 7 hours on the bus to work a 2 hour shift.
I could be considered retired (I like to think I’m unemployable at the moment) but I do odd jobs via public transportation, carpooling, Amtrak, and sometimes even hitchhiking.
I walk approximately 10 steps to the office next to my bedroom. Mentally that’s a different story.

While technically retired, I still work PRN/occasionally in our local ER…which is a less than 5 minute drive from here.

Walk down the stairs (I work from home). When I do have to go to the office, I drive the 50 miles, natch.

An airplane if I have to go to the office. Otherwise, I walk a few steps to my desk.
taking the bus would increase my commute by over an hour, pass. just my own vehicle until the US decides public transit is worth anything
