HOCKEY!
8I’m putting the kids to bed early, eating Chinese food until my face falls off, having a beer or 2, pacing stressfully inches from the TV, and taking years off my life while I watch game 7 between the Blues and Bruins tonight. Its going to be glorious. What’s everyone else doing?
Anyone intending on dumping on my love of sports, please troll elsewhere.
Hugs & kisses,
zinimusprime

My seven year old niece announced to me that she was coming over because she wanted to watch it together. So I guess I will be watching with one of my favorite people. I will need to watch my language!
@tinamarie1974 That’s awesome.
LEGOS! EGGOS! STRATEGO! AWESOME!
@zinimusprime
Congratulations. I’m literally sick to my stomach. I hate losing, but you guys won fair and square. Tip of the cap to your team.
@zinimusprime What a game, what a series. Both were deserving but OMG that was one helluva game for Binnington.
Thank you @zinimusprime! It was an amazing game. Both teams did a great job
Nothing better in all sports than Game 7 for The Stanley Cup!! I shall be watching even though I’m really not a fan of either team. Go Blues & Go Bruins!! (Hoping for a good game…)
@tohar1 Gotta mix them together. Try “Go Bluins?” Does that work?
@Targaryen I’ll allow that!
OMG! OMG! OMG! YYYYEEEEESSSSSSS
Watched the game with my 86 y/o Mom who is a 7 yr transplant from STL to central ALA. (She even stayed up til the last play!) We were thrilled!
/giphy let’s go blues hockey
@chienfou OK. I can live with that one (#5…)
@chienfou awesome
LEGOS! EGGOS! STRATEGO! AWESOME!
I also love hockey!
@Targaryen I am also a Star Wars fan
@Targaryen @zinimusprime

@Targaryen @therealjrn @zinimusprime I think I found a compromise!
@meverett @Targaryen @therealjrn I’m a Bruins fan, but no biggie.
@meverett @therealjrn @zinimusprime Nice find.
@zinimusprime What part of Massachusetts or New England are you from?
@Targaryen At the southern intersection of 495 and 95 in the lovely town of Mansfield!
@zinimusprime
I live in Assonet…near Fall River…but I relocated from NC and hate the Bruins and the Pats…LOL
I like that the NHL lets the fans and team slobber on, maul, and practically get intimate with, the trophy.
/image Stanley Cup
And that’s one hell of a trophy.
@f00l it’s the best trophy in all sports. Football is the best sport, but that cup is the best trophy.
@zinimusprime
The Vince Lombardi trophy is superficially kinda “crystal-pretty”, but it also looks quite self-aggrandizing and self-mythologizing
(gosh: would the NFL ever be guilty of those attitudes?)
And it also looks super-super-overdesigned-corporate.
Looks like the sort of incredibly-self-congratulatory thing you might see in a Fortune 100 corporate boardroom.
Oops. That’s kinda what the NFL management over-structure is:
a boardroom full of self-important rich people and media experts.
Who are frequently either lying, or full of shit, or both.
I don’t particularly like that Lombardi trophy.
(In case that’s not quite obvious.)
Whereas, the much-battered Stanley Cup is cool.
@f00l @zinimusprime Hey! Sports-ball players are HEROES!
@therealjrn @zinimusprime
The players are fine by me. As are most of the coaching and support staff.
/giphy “go sports!”
The NFL owners and the NFL overall-management have frequently made the error of thinking of themselves as sports-people.
/giphy NOT
@f00l @zinimusprime I see you are in a mood, well then.
Let us consider the owners and management as the real heroes here. They are the unsung job creators, offering many minority clients a job with above average wages…why should they not be well-compensated and revered?
@therealjrn @zinimusprime
Re owners: I often admire their biz sense. I don’t denigrate their financial or management successes.
I don’t particularly like it when owners hoodwink/politically-influence local citizens into over-generous tax and financial packages.
But voters will be voters. They will do as they wish.
I’ve never lived in a city that rolled over financially for an owner, so never had the chance to vote “go to hell” re that.
I only dislike their (re: some owners) quite public brazen and egoistical embarrassing buffoonery. And these “buffoon owners” apparent sometime confusion about the level of their own sports-performance insight and management skills.
My feelings on this topic might possibly be influenced by my feelings about the conduct of the current-most-famous-and-influential of our local billionaire owners.
Please note that I neither dispute, nor begrudge, this person’s business success or business brilliance.
I only dislike his public and private sports-specific egotism. Esp the idea he holds of being capable of second-guessing great coaching staffs.
But he’s the owner. I understand that he gets to do as he pleases.
@zinimusprime Awe, I’m just messing with you @f00l . : )
@therealjrn @zinimusprime
I would disagree.
Excellent sports performance would (and does) exist completely without the modern cultural and biz-environmental enlargement of billionaire owners, major promotional contracts, ESPN, huge stadiums, and beer contracts.
Excellent sports would not exist without great playing and coaching.
A great owner might contribute to sports culture and health. A bad owner might not.
Owners do assist with big money sports-related business/jobs/etc.
But they don’t create great sports. And never will.
@therealjrn @zinimusprime
I figured.
Give your hero Jerry Jones a kiss for me. Ok?
@f00l @zinimusprime On the mouth?
@therealjrn @zinimusprime
Tongue to tongue, please. With lipstick.
The world needs more /giphies
@tinamarie1974 I like your team. Your goalie is a dink.
@tinamarie1974 @zinimusprime Which team has that walrus as a goalie?
@therealjrn @zinimusprime This guy? Looks like he is wearing blue, soooooo
@zinimusprime not gonna discuss my goalie this close to game time. But his record speaks for itself
@tinamarie1974 @zinimusprime and he’s a ROOKIE!
@chienfou @zinimusprime a rookie who can write his own ticket!!
The horoscopes were right!
Since my beloved Calgary Flames let me down so badly, I have to cheer for the team with the highest population of Canadians, so GO BLUES
@canuk you go against Patrice Bergeron?! He’s a man amongst men!
BLUES WIN!
This was the first meh forum that I started. I am pleased with the outcome.
