From the write up: “when you let things go a couple days too long.
Why? Because most shavers aren’t equipped to deal with that extra few centimeters of growth.”
So the author is a werewolf? or what?
I watched the HSN video they linked. Their demonstrations did not impress me with how fast it worked. I think it would maybe be faster to cut each hair individually.
@xobzoo I just watched it, too (based on your comment), and you are not wrong! There is no possible way that dude with the beard in the studio has it turned on, right? If so, this is the crappiest shaver I have ever seen so proudly demonstrated.
I mean he literally goes over the same part of his beard like 6+ times and there’s not a single difference between when he started and when he finished. I actually laughed out loud.
Maybe the buzz was too loud to use on air, but they totally should have disclosed that he was just modeling it because NO ONE would buy it based on the job it was doing on him! Too funny!
@k4evryng@xobzoo My favorite part was when he switched out his note cards so he could read the colors of the shavers that were sitting directly in front of him.
@brianbrianbrian@xobzoo yes!! I laughed at that too! Like…they’re right there in front of you! And even if the red one had some unusual name, the grey is grey and the black is black…and I don’t think it would have been too difficult to wing it, lol!
The QVC studio is about 1/2 mile from my house. The on air talent has become fairly amateur in recent years…and you can tell.
No brand of shaver is indestructible. Heads wear out. Foil breaks. The center cutter bar gets nicked and dulled. Who’s going to have spares for a brand that is essentially unknown, when they’re needed? HSN? It is to laugh.
@radi0j0hn I’ve got two Remingtons that are old enough to vote, and I can still get spates for the bits (and NiMH batteries) if I need them. I don’t do disposable devices if I have a choice.
@MrNews Same with my Panasonic, though the foil and blade replacement set cost me closer to $30. I bought one of these not to replace what I already own, but to have at my camp so as to have one less thing to pack for a weekend, when precise facial hair removal is not on the priority list…
Got mine. Thought I ordered grey, and my order says I ordered grey, but its a very black color of grey.
I have to say, it has exceeded my expectations. I had planned on using it as my travel razor…if it got lost somehow, no biggy. But it works as well, if not better than my Norelco.
I reckon I’ll give it a try, keep most of my face hair shaved for work, and an electric might be nice. Irrelevantly, I still remember my dad using one of those tri wheel looking things, this looks much more sophisticated
@PooltoyWolf “Flyco”? You mean the vicco I linked to? You had said the pop-out pooped out.
I had about the same trouble with the one I bought, but that’s not a big deal for me as I rarely even try to use such things. My biggest complaint is the charge duration is pretty inconsistent.
I might buy it tomorrow as a gift, but for myself I would have loved a good trimmer as I need a new one. A shaver though I despise as I love my beard, just need a good electric trimmer for shaping, etc.
@Vitanima We think you meant to say “scaping” sounds very similar to “shaping.” Well actually we can only determine such is inaccurate once knowing the placement of such beard touching which lips. Either way hold the pics including gifs; no need.
This appears to be a direct clone of an older Remington I used for years without changing the blades. Only replaced it when the battery wouldn’t hold a charge anymore.
I doubt this would be as nice, but for $20, who cares? I paid that much for the disposable non-electric I’ve been using for 6 months without changing the blades.
Shaving cream and replacement razor blades are a sham, by the way. How’s your razor gonna get dull from cutting hair? That doesn’t even make sense.
@AROAH The sane way lawn mower blades get dull by simply just cutting grass. With a lawn mower sand gets in the mix. For a razor when you shave outer epidermal skin is in the mix.
@whomeyesu And microparticles of grit from dust, and interaction with the irregularities of the foil as it flexes over the curvature of the face, and…
Yeah, they do wear out. Not fast, usually, but it happens sooner or later. With these, I expect that they probably start out less sharp than my oldest Remington is now, on its third set of foils and heads.
By Grabthar’s Hammer, what a shaving!
@atannir Thank you Dr. Lazarus!
@atannir Never give up! Never surrender!
@atannir @dgbarstow2 You might have to surrender if you are using a $ 19 shaver you purchased from meh.
OK-you’ve convinced me it works on hair, but what about feathers.
That’s funny, Wet/Dry Hybrid was my nickname in high school.

@kevinrs Just give them your address and wait for the next full moon…
@kevinrs I think the preferred term is “Lupine-American”.

@brianbrianbrian And then proceeded to point to them in the wrong order anyway.

Oops…disregard the irrelevant QVC comment since the linked video was HSN. Clearly I’m the amateur…
Does this work on all hybrids?
No brand of shaver is indestructible. Heads wear out. Foil breaks. The center cutter bar gets nicked and dulled. Who’s going to have spares for a brand that is essentially unknown, when they’re needed? HSN? It is to laugh.
@werehatrack $19. Say that slow. Do you have any idea how much norelco or braun charge for replacement heads? Its a bit more than …$19.
@werehatrack It’s a 19 buck shaver. Don’t expect too much. This is MEH. Hazel & Havi???
@radi0j0hn I’ve got two Remingtons that are old enough to vote, and I can still get spates for the bits (and NiMH batteries) if I need them. I don’t do disposable devices if I have a choice.
Finally got my tax refund, so I’m gonna splurge on this!
I’m tempted, but my 10-year-old Panasonic ($120) still works fine. Blades & foil replaced once, for $50 though!
@MrNews I’m all for keeping what works, or repairing it, instead of replacing it with a cheaper thing that will essentially be a disposable item.
@mehvid1 @MrNews ^^^THIS^^^

If @PooltoyWolf will take a chance on one, so will I:
https://meh.com/forum/topics/vicco-fs352-wetdry-mens-electric-razor-rotary-shaver
@phendrick Let me know if you experience better luck with this one than I did with the Flyco.
@PooltoyWolf “Flyco”? You mean the vicco I linked to? You had said the pop-out pooped out.

As far as this one, you first.
@phendrick @PooltoyWolf Vicco was the paste-on brand used for the Flyco in Mexico. Same shaver.
@PooltoyWolf @werehatrack Ah! Too many names.
/youtube amadeus, too many notes
@phendrick @werehatrack Beat me to it!

Yeah so of course I gotta know… How is it for the balls?
@ohhwell Given I have so many, that is an important question to ask. Thanks.
@ohhwell You’ll be the talk of the ballroom.
@ohhwell good for just Hazel or all nuts?
After just one time with me, Hazel and Havi will be begging “No more!”
I might buy it tomorrow as a gift, but for myself I would have loved a good trimmer as I need a new one. A shaver though I despise as I love my beard, just need a good electric trimmer for shaping, etc.

@whomeyesu you either need less ritalin or way way more
@Vitanima
I was just over on Morning Save checking out what they’ve got and saw a trimmer. Check it out!
I enjoy using an olde fashioned double edge safety razor but this might be good for times I’m in a rush. Cheap enough for an experiment.
@tweezak Ahh all of a sudden the meh beaker is taking over my pop up ads.
@whomeyesu <mode=“pedant”> ITYM Erlenmeyer flask, a beaker looks rectangular-ish in profile.</mode>

OBTW, the foils break after enough flexing.
How is it on the Taint? Does it bind up?
@SputnikHQ Will it pinch the little raised flap???
I like to take my shaver on camping trips but the charge never seems to last. Excited to find one that also runs on gas!
@j2 Your shaver must be spoiled; mine never gets to leave the house.
@j2 You shave whilst camping? You’re doing it wrong. No showering, no shaving, nothing but manly things like smelling bad and looking grubby!
