@star2236 Thanks… just spent about an hour turning chipotles into chipotle powder by running them thru a coffee grinder then passing them thru a sieve. Turned about 5 quarts of jalapenos I had smoked earlier in the year as they got red into 1 quart of powder. Did it outside because (A) the weather is nice and (B) it keeps the amount of chipotle dust in the kitchen to a minimum! I (previously) learned to wear a face mask so I don’t spend the entire time sneezing also… Several of my friends/relatives will be getting that this year

I make cupcake in a coffee mug and sell it at craft shows But all my family and friends have tested it out so many times that I can’t pass it off as gifts anymore. I also do that layered cookies in the jar homemade granola and homemade hot cocoa to. I would love to get into making jams and some of the stuff you make that sounds really awesome.
@star2236 I was given an instant pot over the summer and have used it to make most of the jams I am giving away this year. It’s really not that hard if you follow the basic recipes (easily available on-line). I put it up in 4oz jelly jars and if I want to get really fancy I will make a wooden ‘crate’ to put 3-4 in as a gift (not sure that is gonna happen this year…)

I’ve already had 1 Christmas. I gave personalized ornaments (that I made from the arabesque tiles from Lowe’s). I forgot to take pictures of them though.
The “Starter Fluid” mug also included coffee as part of the gift. It and the diesel t-shirt were for my brother-in-law. (He’s a diesel mechanic.) These were the only designs I made myself.
The “Thou shalt not try me” shirt, the pot mitts, and the sign were for my sister.
The train-related stuff, the cats shirt, and the “Will trade sister for presents” shirt were for my nephew.
The unicorn, Elsa, and “Will trade brother for presents” shirts were for my niece.
@Kidsandliz I’m pretty sure I saw another mug somewhere that inspired it. I also don’t believe I have the commercial rights to the font I used. Thanks though.
The saying on his shirt I definitely found online but used fonts I (and later my sister) had. I had to remake it because the 1st one was lopsided. Apparently the seams didn’t line up well when I found the “center” of the shirt. I have a Cameo 3 (Silhouette) and my sister has an Explore Air 2 (Cricut). She also doesn’t have the same fonts as me. It was a little interesting trying to figure out another design program. (I think I figured it out more than she has.)

My wife, I just let her pick out something and I pay for it. I ran out of “surprise” ideas a decade ago. It’s just easier this way.
My kids, I try very hard to surprise them. My wife buys them practical stuff they need (clothes), I get toys/fun things. This year they broke me though - they’re old, almost done with college, and there’s not much “fun” things I’m willing to buy. They both know the largest of their series of presents, but not the ancillary stuff.
Have to only buy for 3 nieces instead of the usual 20+ as all others will be out of town. We’re planning to get them all sweatshirts as they really seem to wear them constantly.
A nephew/godchild is getting a Labo set. Mainly because I think it’s pretty cool. It will also force him to move a little bit while playing his game which, I hate to say it, he needs. He’s a bit of a chonker.
Granddaughter is getting some light up Lego-like things called Light Stax. We did some building in the darkroom at a Legoland under a blacklight and she loved that her Legos could glow. So I found these Legos that had built-in lights. Pretty sure they will be a big hit. Also bought a new Lego storage box for them. She’s getting an assortment of other toys she’s asked for, including a few Barbies.
Me? I lost weight so I had my family buy me clothes. I’ll be tossing, with some enthusiasm, a lot of old clothes. My wife has, as per usual, forgotten that she needs to get me a gift. I have two ready for that occasion when she remembers - FF12 for Switch and a Dremel. She can figure out which she prefers to gift me. The other is my present to me.
I’ve been working so hard this year that it will be my least exciting wrapped gift year. Normally, I try to have fun with it. For Harry Potter themed gifts, I made a stuffed owl fly out of a box full of paper, holding a Hogwarts letter. Another year, I hit PS4 games and controllers in a box I made look like a guitar. Done scavenger hunts and fake gifts, and boxes of pennies. It took me over 4 hours just to sort through packages earlier this week and I decided I didn’t have the energy to be funny this year, but I encourage others to do so. It’s a lot of fun when people are trying to guess the gift. Makes even a boring pair of socks fun.
@katbyter Why not start a GoFundMe and post the link here? You might find some meh-ers (mehbytes, mehdians?) in a giving spirit. I don’t see any rules against it, and if there are, blame the goat.

For my mom - work/chore coupons that can read for a specific job or just “good for 30 min of hard manual labor” or whatever. Generally she doesn’t want or need anything. Also she likes chocolate but doesn’t want a ton of it or big bars so I buy several different kinds of bags with the mixtures of small bars in them and give her an assortment. The best part of that gift is that I get to eat the rest that I am not giving to her

I bought a Mugig 32 Keys Melodica this last July for some reason when it was on sale. I think that was for the 10…wait…is she 11 now? Well whatever.
I bought my daughter one of those orange watches that were on sale and got a just-so-happens matching camp knife. SIL I got a matching set of camp knives in mossy oak color. Oh and a step-on keyboard thing for my grandson. Um…I know there’s more because I buy shit year-round thinking “it’ll be good for Christmas & birthdays”.
I bought myself a Lincoln and a new W&D set. Then I went and bought the Lincoln a new battery and new set of tires.

@therealjrn I also pick up stuff for the grandkids and SWMBO when I see it throughout the year. It gets stored in the guest room until the proper gift-giving occasion. I will occasionally text myself ideas for gifts when I am at someone’s house (like my SIL needs some champagne stoppers and ramekins) as I notice things they could use.

I got my mom a set of decorative ceramic christmas deer for outside (had to already give them to her), and I paid for half her new phone, my dad got some tarps and an RGB keyboard (he can’t see very well so I’m hoping the backlit keys will help), and my brother is mentally disabled so he loves anything if he thinks it’s something I’d like, lol. Got him a set of Police challenge coins and a $14 smartwatch - he will probably break it within a month or two so it wasn’t worth getting anything really fancy plus he can’t tell the difference, and if its anything like the last super cheap watch I got him it’ll actually last well over a year.
Everybody else gets cheap little ‘thinking of you’ stuff like coffee mugs, ornaments, etc.
We’re pretty low-key with Christmas gifts since we shop for bargains all year long and don’t usually wait to give them until the holidays
Wife is getting a windshield cover for her car so she doesn’t have to scrape it on frosty days, one kid is getting a 240GB external SSD for use with his laptop, and the other got some work boots. I bought my mom some cowboy/girl boots in Sep (she didn’t want to wait) and she’s been wearing them A LOT; Dad got a couple gadgets to use on the ski slopes.
We aren’t giving each other gifts — However, I am hoping that this nightmare we are currently living in right now will be over soon, as it’s been bad now for months … can’t go into details but it’s stressful, ongoing, and a literal gut wrenching mess that a family member of ours is going through right now. Then my mother has been in and out of the hospital lately too so I am stressed to the Max. But, Jesus is the reason for this season so I’m grateful for that because I wouldn’t make it right now without my faith! !So despite all my woes. It is still great to be alive and celebrating Christnas next week ( and my birthday tomorrow). There are always bright spots but you must look for them even when things are going bad for you !
@therealjrn thank you for the birthday wishes - I have always hated my birthday being so close to Christmas — oh well it doesn’t matter now but it did matter to me when I was a kid. If I had a birthday party on my birthday, few kids could attend as they were gone for Christmas break (since everyone was out of school ).

Once Apple added swipe to the native kB, I switched over. As the google kB made the phone laggy.

Got him a set of Police challenge coins and a $14 smartwatch - he will probably break it within a month or two so it wasn’t worth getting anything really fancy plus he can’t tell the difference, and if its anything like the last super cheap watch I got him it’ll actually last well over a year.
Everybody else gets cheap little ‘thinking of you’ stuff like coffee mugs, ornaments, etc.

We’re pretty low-key with Christmas gifts since we shop for bargains all year long and don’t usually wait to give them until the holidays
Wife is getting a windshield cover for her car so she doesn’t have to scrape it on frosty days, one kid is getting a 240GB external SSD for use with his laptop, and the other got some work boots. I bought my mom some cowboy/girl boots in Sep (she didn’t want to wait) and she’s been wearing them A LOT; Dad got a couple gadgets to use on the ski slopes.

We aren’t giving each other gifts — However, I am hoping that this nightmare we are currently living in right now will be over soon, as it’s been bad now for months
… can’t go into details but it’s stressful, ongoing, and a literal gut wrenching mess that a family member of ours is going through right now. Then my mother has been in and out of the hospital lately too so I am stressed to the Max. But, Jesus is the reason for this season so I’m grateful for that because I wouldn’t make it right now without my faith! !So despite all my woes. It is still great to be alive and celebrating Christnas next week ( and my birthday tomorrow). There are always bright spots but you must look for them even when things are going bad for you !

it doesn’t matter now but it did matter to me when I was a kid. If I had a birthday party on my birthday, few kids could attend as they were gone for Christmas break (since everyone was out of school
