When I was in Singapore I wandered into a mall sort of place called Orchard Towers. I’ve never been offered so many massages in my life. I’m surprised to this day that so many young women become massage therapists over there. It must pay well.
@hchavers I remember that too. I have a relatively nice watch my wife gave me as a gift and it drew a fair amount of interest. I’d usually respond: “Thanks. It’s just a Citizen.” and I would get an incredulous “JUST a Citizen.” I guess it’s nicer than a lot of people have there.
The only time I ever had one was in the hospital. I’d been there for a few days and there was a massage therapist making the rounds. It was pretty amazing.
I treat myself to a massage every now and then. My masseuse is the sweetest! I just love her! I deal with a ton of neck and shoulder tension and the occasional massage really helps.
I wasn’t a massage fan until I found the right therapist. Now I go semi-annually. It definitely helps with nagging injuries and general pain. If something is bothering you, let your therapist know and they’ll either work on that area more than others, or be gentle.
It’s definitely not for everyone, but if you live an active lifestyle or have chronic pain, it can be very helpful.
I like getting massages. Mainly because my health insurance provides a wellness benefit to reimburse “x” visits a year, up to “y” dollars a visit. So that’s a nice incentive…(pre pandemic*)
My massage therapist is also a RN. She is a miracle worker when my muscles are in knots. I have massages from many different therapists. Some have been just okay but most have been wonderful. Always feel better after.
I’ve been getting them for years. I gifted massages to my sisters, parents, friends and sons. They all LOVE it! Mostly it’s through my massage therapist. My boys like it so much that they found good ones around where they live.
@ELJAY Ha Ha! My youngest…probably. My oldest…no way! I tried to get him to go to a strip club with my favorite nephew and he pitched the hugest fit about germs, fluids and disease. Refused to go.
Have you noticed how many massage therapists there are in each city ? How many massage parlors and so on. And how do you find out ? Only if you have friends who can recommend a good place or go to each of them)
Massages are great as long as you are happy about it at the end.

I had a frozen shoulder, and it took a couple of months of very painful massages, but they worked and I can move my shoulder again.
