@RogerWilco my issue is that I already have the broken flask on grey and I rarely wear it because, grey. I have the two astronaut tshirts from mediocritee and even though they are different poses and sayings, my coworkers think they are the same shirt… I don’t want people thinking that I wear the same thing all the time, lol.
I just wore mine today. It may be a slight snub at the anti-science people. It reminds me of the broken flask in Plague Inc. game. I think they should have an anti-mask element to the game.
I have become somewhat of a t-shirt snob. I will buy them, if you put a little logo/flask where the pocket would be if there were one, and a big logo/flask on the back.
Pretty innovative, huh?
Actually, once things settle down around here, I’m considering getting a small dog. Probably not a puppy (everybody wants a puppy) but a harder-to-place adult dog. There’s a need for that here in Tulsa anyway.
But I need Snickers & CC to get their surgeries out of the way and my bathroom reno to get finished.
I am just hoping mine doesn’t get too big…it will be a surprise as Google Lens thinks my pending fur baby will be somewhere between 25 - 130 lbs. Apparently he looks like a bunch of different breeds
When I adopted my pupper, I was told she’d be around 35 pounds. Well, at 6 months she was 35 pounds and full grown she’s 75-80. My ex told me that he knew they were wrong because of her giant paws, but he wanted a bigger dog and didn’t want me to say no if I knew she was going to be a big dog.
Jokes on him. I kept the animals he wanted us to get when I kicked him to the curb.
@f00l@RiotDemon@sammydog01@therealjrn I talked to them Monday and they were not so helpful. They don’t think he will be too big, but at the same time reminded me they really were unsure of breed so the dog could be bigger than expected. Either way it will be loved and spoiled…but I am a bit nervous lol
All that said I feel like I will have a better idea Friday when I actually see him in person
@f00l@RiotDemon@therealjrn@tinamarie1974 One of my requirements was that I could pick my dog up if I needed to- 50 pounds is about my limit. So we got a full sized puppy. She won’t get into the car voluntarily so it’s a good thing.
@f00l@RiotDemon@sammydog01@therealjrn so the ad stated 12 wks and 10 #, if correct it looks like roughly a 50-60 lb dog fully grown. That would be good.
That said the shelter reminded me the age is a guess. I think they want to have plausible deniabilty
My shelter said my dog was a hound mix. She’s definitely a pit mix. Easier to adopt out that way. Plus if any insurance asks, her papers do say she’s a hound mix.
@f00l@RiotDemon@therealjrn@tinamarie1974 The shelter called mine a lab mix but two vets independently said she’s a sight hound and shepherd plus maybe other stuff. It’s hunting country so lots of hounds- they probably thought a lab was an easier sell. It was all pit and hound mixes there.
@f00l@RiotDemon@sammydog01@therealjrn well. I will let you guys know in due course. Hoping you are right and he is around 30, but really up to 50 is not bad.
And @barney I don’t know if I look like him. I do have dark hair and since Covid my white streaks are showing lol!
@f00l My experience is that shelters fib to get animals adopted. Like my parents’ two year old healthy cat the vet said was at least 6 and needed hundreds of dollars of dental work.
Fair enough. Shelters do what they have to do to get pets into homes.
But this cutie is a pup. Often the young ones don’t have expensive issues.
I’m hoping there are no serious omissions or misrepresentations here.
As for eventual size when grown, @tinamarie1974 will get her own idea of that at the meetup.
Hey @tinamarie1974 - it is a great idea to get a vet evaluation (by your own vet) as early as possible in the adoption process.
Also it’s worth doing a calc of yearly expenses for a healthy pet.
I’m guessing a healthy smallish youngish pet that is well cared for is a min of around $1k annually, and can go higher: that includes shots, etc; but possibly does not allow for very top-drawer pet food.
Possibly get a quote on annual shots and teeth cleaning.
@f00l@sammydog01 I actually have already taken a pet health insurance policy out on this guy. It is effective Sept 1st, so I am going to try to delay vet visits until then (pre existing conditions clause) After the ICU expenses I had with Samuel I decided I would just take the hit on insurance and my company just started offering policy discounts through Nationwide. Seems like a decent policy with good wellness and major medical coverage (90% with a yearly 7.5k max, no lifetime max) Includes yearly dental cleaning, preventative meds, etc.
@f00l@sammydog01@tinamarie1974 All the shelters I have volunteered tells the vet estimate of the animal’s age - and sure they might be off a bit, but they don’t purposely lie about animal age. Of course others may not tell the truth or may not have a vet who does good estimates or may not even take the animals to vets before they are adopted. That I would not know - but 100% of my experiences over the years every shelter I have volunteered at is as truthful as is possible.
Human adoption from abroad though they lie like a rug about kids’ ages. They make fake paperwork to make the child as young as is plausible. They first aged my kid as 5. I saw a photo another parent took and told them 5 year olds don’t have permanent eye teeth. They then re-aged her as 7. Found her birth mom. She was 9 years 11 mo old and the size of a 4 year old due to long term malnutrition and wasting. They said her 5 month old brother was a newborn (he was 4.5 pounds - again due to malnutrition).
I love that you can pay an extra 2 bucks for expedited delivery, but that just means you should get it about 4-7 days sooner, but still over a month from now either way.
Anyway, yay Pasta Drop coupons!
/giphy tactless-abstracted-stingray
@ChompyGator I think you can still get them from the offer that comes at the end of each week (nothing to do with VMP), but you better hurry, I think it’s almost over.
I love the new one!
Damnit. Disappointed that if I get broken on Navy it also becomes a red flask.
@RiotDemon Yeah, went with both on grey cuz of that.
Some people will probably dig it though.
Shirt.woot classics was released in 2009, just two years after their inception. 6-7 years is downright ancient by that standard!
Re designs
/giphy YESSSS!!!
@Dave Fuck yeah!
take my money.
Well, I may have found something to use my pastadrop coupon on.
@cinoclav Thanks for the reminder. I never received mine
@Brasssong @cinoclav It’s PASTADROP
I just wore mine today. It may be a slight snub at the anti-science people. It reminds me of the broken flask in Plague Inc. game. I think they should have an anti-mask element to the game.
@caffeine_dude No it wouldn’t be a slight snub to them. They already think science is broken
Am I the only one who thought it was a lightning bolt inside the flask?
@JT954 yes
@JT954 hey and the lightning bolt could be a catalyst for some deals
@JT954 no
@Dave Can you get me Stephen Curry’s autograph? Thanks!
/giphy fierce foxy hat
You’re the man @dave ! Cant help but add to my collection, having that spare pastadrop code was also a nice bonus!
Great design. Next time, please offer lighter or different colors for the blanks.
/giphy rotten-ageless-salsa
@mike808 all tshirts should be black.
@mike808
Light color t-shirts stain more easily and show more discolorization. I prefer dark.
I have become somewhat of a t-shirt snob. I will buy them, if you put a little logo/flask where the pocket would be if there were one, and a big logo/flask on the back.
Pretty innovative, huh?
@MrBaer I’d love to have shirts with designs on the back.
@MrBaer @RiotDemon On the box? You mean like the pasta boxes?
@Kidsandliz @MrBaer sure, that too.
Hey @Dave
I bought 4 flask t-shirts Sunday. One of each.
Obviously, I’m certifiable.
But, if you all leave them up for sale, might order more.
/giphy want one
@f00l they’ll be up until Monday at least. Plenty of time to buy more.
@RiotDemon
I’d like these shirts to stay up in perpetuity, or to be re-offered on the anniversary each year, or something,
So that I could GET MOAR of them slowly.
Also I would like them to come in assorted pet sizes”.
So that @therealjrn and @tinamarie1974 could help their new roomies become extra-stylish.
Then all the other Meh Pets would have to either pay fashion catch-up, or else look like slobs.
/giphy fashion puppy
@f00l @RiotDemon @tinamarie1974
I WANT A FASHION PUPPY.
@RiotDemon @therealjrn @tinamarie1974
Contact your local shelter.
: )
CC and Snick want one too.

@f00l @RiotDemon @therealjrn aawww any idea what type of doggo you want?
I am just hoping mine doesn’t get too big…it will be a surprise as Google Lens thinks my pending fur baby will be somewhere between 25 - 130 lbs. Apparently he looks like a bunch of different breeds
@f00l @RiotDemon @therealjrn @tinamarie1974 Wow, did you ask your vet?
@f00l @RiotDemon @sammydog01 @tinamarie1974
Oh…we’ll see who is available when I’m ready. Imma sucker for hard-luck cases so we shall see.
@f00l @RiotDemon @sammydog01 @therealjrn not yet. I don’t pick him up till Friday. So I think we will visit the vet one day next week.
@RiotDemon @sammydog01 @therealjrn @tinamarie1974
Puppy paw size is a clue to eventual adult size.
The current caretakers should have a pretty good idea of the adult size.
@RiotDemon @sammydog01 @therealjrn @tinamarie1974
Hard luck tales?
Hard luck tails?
/giphy tail wagging
@f00l @sammydog01 @therealjrn @tinamarie1974 yep to the paws.

@RiotDemon @sammydog01 @therealjrn @tinamarie1974
When you finally meet: if the paws look notably “oversized” compared to the current pup size, expect a lot of growth.
If not, the odds are better for small-to-medium, depending on current weight and age.
@f00l @RiotDemon @therealjrn @tinamarie1974 That assumes you know how old the puppy is. They can get a range based on teeth but it’s still a guess.
@RiotDemon @sammydog01 @therealjrn @tinamarie1974
Agreed re age guessing.
I took another look at the pix.
To me, those aren’t oversized paws. I’m guessing eventual small-to-medium.
(Unless this one already weighs 80 lbs; but in that case, you already know).
How much does the pup weigh? What is the shelter’s age estimate?
@f00l @RiotDemon @sammydog01 @therealjrn so the ad stated 12 wks and 10 #, if correct it looks like roughly a 50-60 lb dog fully grown. That would be good.
That said the shelter reminded me the age is a guess. I think they want to have plausible deniabilty

@RiotDemon @sammydog01 @therealjrn @tinamarie1974
I’m thinking adult size smaller than that. Maybe 20-35#. What I’d think of as small-medium.
But that’s a wild guess from a photo. And the shelter people have actually seen and handled. So trust them.
@tinamarie1974 Do you look like your dog?
Btw, he’s very cute.
@f00l @RiotDemon @sammydog01 @therealjrn well. I will let you guys know in due course. Hoping you are right and he is around 30, but really up to 50 is not bad.

Yeah, what he said!
Yup,
Are the t-shirts available after the new design is up for VMP’s? I was late to the party…story if my life. lol
@ChompyGator I think you can still get them from the offer that comes at the end of each week (nothing to do with VMP), but you better hurry, I think it’s almost over.
(Click on the shirt.)
@Barney @ChompyGator I think designs stay for 3 weeks now… I’ll have to double check.
Edit: currently you can buy all the way back to July 6th’s design.
