I’ve tried these but I get so frustrated. I had to buy a $25,000 vacuum chamber to get a vacuum (a little detail they neglect to mention) but when I open it the vacuum is gone as the chamber fills with air. I cannot gather up any vacuum to seal so I don’t see the point in buying this though the price is good. If I could figure it out I could store a goodly supply of vacuum and then pretend, for a few millionths of a second that I am deep in the Universe.
I got one the last go around and it won’t seal fully. Contacted Meh, they said to contact FoodSaver, linking to the product registration page, and I found the contact page elsewhere.
Took 18 days to get a copy/pasted response (that can be found in their FAQ) that was not at all applicable to my problem.
Frustrating as all hell and now I have to wait to get back home on a 4 day train ride from a funeral on the other side of the country to call them and hope someone can replace my janky sucker.
So, be warned, if yours comes defective, it’s a hassle and a half to get anything to happen, and I still don’t know what will be said when I call.
@Thumperchick
Done and done. Also, oh damn, you’re staff now? How long has that been a thing? I don’t do much community interaction, but I remember you dominated these boards as just a regular user.
The first few things I sealed and vac’d were dry and no immediate apparent problems, but it didn’t seem like a permanent vacuum after a few days. It was really apparent when I first started trying to seal up some marinated stuff and the sealed ends would keep coming completely open with a little handling.
On close inspection, in the same spot on every sealed end, and especially noticeable with liquids, two of the little channels in the plastic (that allow the vacuuming) are open, with air bubbles making their way in, and liquid on the way out. I assume the element or whatever just isn’t getting hot enough in one spot, but that makes the entire thing just about useless, or at least as much as using a straw and zip-lock bags.
I bought one of these last time and it works great. What I like about it over the auto-seal model is I can line up a slightly rough cut bag and still get a good deal.

@Limewater Weird. I looked through the manual too. I don’t have this exact unit. The one I got here has a storage space for the roll. But it looks like the rolls are 11" wide. Do you have extra wide bag sealing needs?

Listen up, this guy’s in the sucking business. He knows his suction.

@jst1ofknd @reclaimercube If you move your hand back and forth really fast the ones I posted will vibrate too… just sayin’
@jst1ofknd @Kidsandliz @reclaimercube These fellows strike me as being exceptional at moving their grasping hand back and forth rapidly…
@jst1ofknd @reclaimercube Day 11 of our toothbrush campaign. Get it together Meh.
Again?
Even the writeup is regurgitated! Second-Time-Around Sundays, is it?
Refurbished … does that mean it comes with bits of the previous owner’s food/drugs/bodily fluids lodged in the innards?
@awk Hopefully it comes with frozen fillet mignon
@awk @Kidsandliz Ever the optimist!
This is a weird speaker dock.
I believe I can brush my teeth with this.
@hchavers ?
Bought another refurbed version of this. Was crap. I don’t know to what specs the refurb stuff is brought back to.
I got a refurb from here and it was fine. I use it for sealing dried hops that I grew as well as freezing tomatoes.
Don’t buy tomatoes in winter.
I looked in the manual, but did not find this listed.
Does anybody know the maximum bag width this foodsaver can handle?
@Limewater Weird. I looked through the manual too. I don’t have this exact unit. The one I got here has a storage space for the roll. But it looks like the rolls are 11" wide. Do you have extra wide bag sealing needs?
@therealjrn
Without a point of reference, I had no way of knowing. I guess now I’ve learned that yes, yes I do.
The 47 seconds someone spent on that Photoshop of Glen really paid off.
You mean to tell me that this product was returned because it sucked less? And now you want me to buy it because it sucks more?

Why does it come with ear phones?
@Hanky Those ear phones really suck.
Glennn!!!
Can I use this to freeze my seed for future super soldiers to be sired with?
@Bumplepimp Sure. Just do everyone in your house a favor and label the packages really, really well.
This is a sucky seal!
I make my own vacuum sealed bags with a zip lock and a straw. It’s not that hard to suck people!
@juggle12 It is when they don’t want to be sucked.
but how do you brush your teeth with it?
@allergycheryl Like this
