After having over 1,200sqft of wood flooring installed when I bought my house in 2020, I looked at a bunch of options and ended up buying one of these. I’ve been very pleased with it.
Fill it with warm water, click the mop head on the handle, and I’m done in less than half an hour, including “cleanup” (dumping the used water outside and rinsing the bucket). Mop head goes into the laundry (in a bag), and it hasn’t shown signs of wear yet. No per-clean trash like Swiffer.
Doing an entire floor using today’s product without rinsing/clearing the pad seems like a bad idea to me. It’s going to pick up tiny pieces of sediment and even small tracked-in rocks as you go, and you’re essentially grinding those into your floor at 100rpm until the pads are thoroughly cleaned.
@Kabn Holy crap I actually have one of those high-tech devices! That exact one with the black plastic bucket and the red wringy thing. And no failing NiCad batteries to wear out in a few years (if you are lucky) which will leave you with e-Waste to dispose of. And a plastic bucket has so many other uses! So it’s a multi-purpose tool.
@Pufferfishy there’s a lady who did a review on utube. Said it did last about 90 min, but overall she didn’t recommend it because the detachable heads did not hold up well washing, and it didn’t clean very well.
@kevlar51 have you tried cleaning your floors more often? You’re having to put so much force because you go so long in between cleanings and things are getting caked onto the floor.
@kevlar51@theindiearmy Textured floor tile requires down force to get things out of the depressions with a Swiffer. Back when I tried to mop the kitchen every day, a Swiffer still couldn’t get the stuff up without that down force. A regular string mop (or a reasonable equivalent) does it with one swipe. I’d expect these fabric-face pads to be closer to a Swiffer than a regular mop.
Can this use the same batteries as my Toilet Detective and Shower District Attorney?

Every swiffer-type floor mop I’ve used requires some downward force to be effective. I can’t imagine that would work well with this.
