I said that it has fallen, but I meant last winter. None of the choices fit. Here in New Jersey we are pretty sure it will fall, but it does not come this early in the season.
@LaserEyes I was confused as to whether it meant snow “this season” or “ever”. Based on where we are in the calendar and the first three options, it would suggest “this season”, but with the only negative option being “will not fall where I am”, it seems to imply “ever”.

…is something I miss dearly from my childhood. We used to vacation to Keystone in Colorado for family ski trips. Haven’t been in 20 years…trying to convince the family to go again one last time, but it’s not working.

Summit county has some great areas to ski. Keystone, A Basin, Copper Mtn, Breckenridge are all very nice with A Basin (as the locals call Arapaho Basin) being used primarily by locals and can be skied into June most years.
Big snow blocking roads and cancelling school means it’s time for snow beer. When you can’t go anywhere anyways, kick back and watch the snowplow go by and have any delicious beer you have on hand, and it becomes a mystical snow beer. My sister started the tradition and we keep it up whenever Mother Nature decides to dump a load of snow on us
@andyw@tinamarie1974 mostly a joke - The acknowledgment of a society that would make such crap and rate it so highly first makes me astonished, and then I think about what passes for maturity any more and I’m not surprised, and then my lack of surprise over the decline of society makes me depressed…
@tinamarie1974@ybmuG On the face of it, The VelociPastor does not sound like my type of movie and it does seem to be of questionable quality. That it got an IMDB rating of 5.1 does seem surprising. The Snow Shark only got a 1.9 if that makes you feel any better.
@tinamarie1974 last time I heard people say “snow-mageddon” seriously, it was when a half inch fell in Oklahoma. Being from Northern Minnesota, we never had stuff close because snow was too deep. I remember a handful of times of school and the movie theater shutting down when the temp dipped to -70s for a couple days. But never for snow.

yeah, I can well remember those approx 10 day periods in January then temps never got over 0 degrees F – day or night. Gotta love International Falls!
I’m in Alabama now, and if they even MENTION snow in the forecast the local stores will be out of peanut butter, bread and water before the news is finished reporting it.
@simplersimon@tinamarie1974 I always laugh when mainly snow free locations get a couple inches of snow and shut everything down…we got 78 inches of snow over 3 days in November of 2014 and that was only called Snovember by the local news. I will admit that stuff WAS shut down for 3-4 days that time.
I once lived in Northern ID and our entire rural city got snowed in for 8 days. Snow over about 3 days was waist deep. You couldn’t even leave as the wind would blow over the plowed roads in and out of the city. The university and schools were in session though. I had to cross country ski to work. Couldn’t get up the hill with my car to my house (had snow tires, was stupid and went to the grocery store to buy milk and kid lunch box food - we didn’t expect an 8 day isolation from the outside world at first) and knew I couldn’t get up the one to where I worked on campus.
There were 3 gas stations in town and they did run out although where on earth one could drive in that small town such that you’d go through even a quarter of a tank of gas in 8 days is beyond me. Took about a week before shortages of food started showing up in the grocery store. Kids were sledding down the streets since cars couldn’t make it up or down (didn’t use salt there and whatever they used was big time inferior with respect to melting ice). If I can find it I’ll post the photo I have of my kid jumping off the porch railing into the snow, was chest deep on her. What looks so cool is no foot prints in or out to where she landed, just pristine snow.
Hasn’t snowed yet. Might not. Portland doesn’t get much snow. I like snow, but the city doesn’t handle it well and people mostly complain about it. It’s 2020 so I’m sure we’ll get a blizzard but I won’t be able to enjoy it because my appendix will burst or something…
