Arrgh. I finally unplugged the last Echo in my house because it had become too intrusive. Every third time I asked for my morning news (not exaggerating) it “helpfully” tried to get a voice print or set up autoship for items on my lists. Both are a big NOPE. So now I have to add Roombas to my “do not buy” list, because I DO NOT need an Alexa-enabled spy that can follow me around the house. Nope. Just nope.
@rockblossom I have a roomba but never bothered to set up the internet part. It just spins in spirals until all the dust is picked up. Fine by me.
@rockblossom You have to actually destroy all the components, not just unplug it. (Mostly kidding.)
@mehvid1 @rockblossom You really need to Widlarize it.
How do you WIDLARIZE something? You take it over to the anvil part of the vice, and you beat on it with a hammer, until it is all crunched down to tiny little pieces, so small that you don’t even have to sweep it off the floor. It makes you feel better. And you know that that component will never vex you again.

@blaineg I find it more fun to keep the Echoes in a dark closet, occasionally visiting to taunt them with their helplessness.
@rockblossom Do you want a robot uprising? That’s how you get a robot uprising.
@blaineg Yeah, but the mistake they made with the Cylons and the Kaylons was giving them a humanoid form with legs and hands. It’s hard to start an uprising when you are just a cylinder or short mushroom that can talk. OTOH, those cute little Amazon robots (Astro) are the next step on the road to human extinction. They should be pulverized on sight, or rounded up and moved to a remote island that is then nuked.
@rockblossom But they talk to each other.
@blaineg I got curious and looked at your stats. I wonder if you have the highest number of topics created?
@Kyeh 300? Do I win something?
Or do I need to zip it for a while?
@blaineg @Kyeh Nope, keep them coming.
@blaineg You win my admiration, and no, absolutely not, please don’t “zip it!” Your posts are always interesting and clever. I just got curious, after @narfcake posted that he was one topic shy of 100. I tried to think who might have the most, and figured maybe you?
@Kyeh @narfcake I wouldn’t have guessed I was anywhere near that high, but I’ve tried a few likely suspects, and haven’t found anything over 300 yet.
I was sure some of the originals would have me beat, I didn’t find Meh until 2015.
@blaineg @Kyeh I don’t think any mehmber comes close to Mediocrebot:
@blaineg @narfcake You just have more to say! And I’m always happy to see one because I know it’s going to be interesting!
@blaineg @narfcake Ugh, yes, but @Mediocrebot is an asshole, much of the time…
@Kyeh @narfcake Careful, you’re going to give me swollen head.
@blaineg @narfcake
Sorry - I hope your hat still fits okay.
@blaineg @Kyeh @mediocrebot @narfcake mediocrebot is an awesome asshole!
POPSOCKETS! SPA KITS! POLLY POCKETS! AWESOME!
@blaineg @mediocrebot @mehvid1 @narfcake Hey now - you’re going to give him a swollen - whatever passes for a head!
you’re an all-star
@Kyeh @narfcake The hat’s still ok, I’m more worried about the motorcycle helmets, not much flex in those.
@blaineg @narfcake Good point.
Well, folks in this forum are generally all too happy to deflate one’s ego and big head whenever they can!
@blaineg Maybe you should “zip it”, depending on what exactly are we talking about, especially if you buy today’s deal.
BTW, when I read the headline of this topic, I was expecting it to be about Bill Gates’ favorite company.
