Ace Hardware is once again offering the Craftsman 13 inch Wide Mouth Tool Bag, but this time it’s $4 for Ace Rewards members and free in-store pickup.
Ace Rewards is free to join. I now have seven of these bags and they hold a surprising amount of stuff. For four bucks I guess I can find a use for a couple more.
eBay has a coupon for 15% off select refurbished items, up to $150 off. Lots of Dyson and Shark vacuums, HP and Lenovo laptops, Garmin items, and more are included. Good for up to 2 uses through 8/2. https://www.ebay.com/e/home-garden/certified-refurbished-coupon
@JnKL really depends what your needs and budget are. If you have one you were looking at I can give an opinion. And there are several others on here more knowledgeable than me that may chime in as well.
@djslack chromebook for kids school. Has to be zoom compatible. I saw three chrome books listed and I am leaning towards the Samsung, but haven’t ruled out the HP
@JnKL the Samsung for $280 before coupon seems to be the sweet spot of the three. Better processor and twice the storage of the HP. The $500 Chromebook is smaller, has a significantly better processor and touchscreen but none of that is probably necessary for doing school work. It looks like a decent deal based on what I see out there. I would skip anything with 2gb of ram or 16gb storage and go bigger.
IDK if this is a deal or not, but I’m thinking about trying it. I’m not sure what the price is after the first three months. It might be $15 or maybe $13. Cancelling the service must be done by telephone unless local laws require online cancellation.
Has anyone else here had any experience with this company?
If you want the content, there’s ok. Understand you won’t get signal when indoors. Signal is problematic around highrises.
They auto I’ll. So if you wanna deal, you have to call a few days before your billing date.
They used have 5 or 6 month special new subscriber deals for like $5-$8 a month. Or they would have a special annual deal.
I would check slickdeals and the Sirius website to look for deals. Then a few days before my renewal date I would call them. (Used to put a reminder in my calendar).
When I called them I would tell them I would cancel unless I could get whatever deal I wanted. Sometimes they would offer me some other deal, but we were always able to decide in something.
Then they would give me the deal I wanted, and I would set a new reminder for the new renewal date and repeat the whole theng then.
I never paid the standard $15 a month plus extra for internet access or whatever. Always paid well under $10 a month.
@f00l This is a streaming only subscription. An actual satellite radio subscription is about $22 for all content, $17 for less content and $11 for basic content. How long has it been since you’ve subscribed?
I decided to try it . It sounds as good or better as what you get on a satellite receiver . I don’t get traffic report channels . The content and presentation are great, but it’s hard to tell what’s live and what’s a rerun . @f00l@craigthom
@craigthom@eonfifty@f00l
They will harrass the hell out of you if you don’t renew. Just FYI
had a ‘subscription’ included with a car I bought. Declined it in big letters across the deal. Didn’t matter, when the time frame (think it was 6 months was up), I actually had to threaten the DA’s office to get them to quit calling. Would have followed through too. Think they pay those guys by the renewal.
@Cerridwyn@craigthom@eonfifty@f00l Thanks for reminding me my daughter’s car subscription is renewing and jumps from $7.50/month to $22/month. Guess I need to make a very long phone call tomorrow. Fuck those guys. I got a few free months with my new car but I hate the games they play. I’ll listen to FM, thank you very much.
@Cerridwyn@craigthom@f00l
In their Customer Agreement document, it states you have to call them on a telephone to cancel. They may be the anti-meh of the subscription business. Did you call them?
@eonfifty I’ve been an XM then SiriusXM subscriber for a very long time. For probably the last 10 years, I’ve been renewing on an offer for 5 months for $25 (usually closer to $30 after fees/taxes/royalties). It’s the “Select” package(I think), so no Howard Stern or some other things that I don’t care about. I set a reminder to call a day or two before my sub ends. It’s typically a 5 min call where I decline an annual offer for half price ($100/year) and they offer the 5 for $25. Most recently, though, they offered 12mos for $60 and it includes streaming, so I did that. Never really had a problem getting the lower offer and haven’t paid full price since back when it was $9.99/mo.
@eonfifty it’s hard to describe what I liked so much about Sirius Disorder. I was often surprised by what they played, I often heard music I hadn’t heard before or in a long time, and they rarely played something I didn’t enjoy hearing.
@eonfifty@mtbm33 I was a subscriber before SiriusXM was seriously XM’d. In those days, it was just Sirius and competitor XM. (Satellite radio was pioneered starting in 1990, and went through various forms, names, and regulatory hurdles, until Sirius Satellite Radio, Inc. was first on on July 1, 2002. Sirius and competitor XM merged in 2008.)
In February, 2004, I became a lifetime subscriber for $400, which seemed like a lot of money at the time to risk on what was essentially a struggling start-up. But it has paid off.
I use my radio everyday, mostly. I do so indoors with a tabletop attachment and an antenna stuck on a window pane. Works quite well.
Honestly my many and various Amazon Echos are giving it a run for my attention as they offer radio stations, some sound channels for cable TV programs, music, and especially podcasts. I am not now nor have I ever been much for music, nor a TV watcher, but I do likes me podcasts. A listener, am I, for it is amazing how much you can do, if you aren’t glued to the TV.
All that being said, I get multiple email offers to subscribe per week. Try as I might, I cannot get off that maillist solicitation. When I used to call to complain, I had to patiently explain that I was a lifetime member with no monthly fee. Most of the time, the young person with whom I was dealing would not know what that was, and would have to send me up the line to a supervisor or more. I was never able to quash the emails, however. So now I just delete them and enjoy my radio in the meantime. I love the satellite radio and the many, many channels and instant variety of audible muses.
@Cerridwyn@craigthom@eonfifty@f00l I was able to take care of it using the online chat. I’m paying $7.63 a month for a lite plan and it was going up to $22 or so for the regular plan. I said it needed to be lower or I would cancel and boom, $6.36 a month for 12 months. (That’s $4.99 plus fees and taxes.) It’s not even the lite version. SCORE!
Gotta put a reminder in my calendar for next year.
@craigthom Wikipedia says a channel called The Loft is the replacement for Sirius Disorder. I’ve been listening for about 20 minutes and have heard The Band, Ziggy Stardust, someone with Randy Newman, Patti Smith (maybe?), an indie guy and a cover of Yellow Brick Road. It’s not bad.
@Jackinga@mtbm33 Which service did you get the lifetime subscription from? I had considered a regular XM subscription over Sirius back when they were independent companies.
Also, I’m reading that the lifetime subscription belongs to a single, physical radio. So if your radio ever dies, the lifetime subscription goes with it. Do you know anything about this?
@Cerridwyn@craigthom@f00l@sammydog01 Unless @mtbm33 didn’t include fees and taxes, you could have gotten a better deal… And you pay less than my estimated fees and taxes. They sent me an email stating I’d expect to pay $15.27 per month after the free trial: $13 for the best streaming package, $1.14 for royalty fees and $1.13 in taxes.
@eonfifty The Loft isn’t bad, but it isn’t nearly as diverse. You probably won’t hear any Bill Monroe or Louis Prima or Neu!, but maybe i just didn’t give it enough time.
@eonfifty@Jackinga I was gonna ask this about radio IDs too. I recall thinking about the lifetime offer back in the mid aughts and deciding that there was no way my little Delphi radio would last a long time. I had the car dock and the boom box dock for it as well.
By '06 or '07 I think I quit subscribing anyway. Had six months again when I bought my car in '12 and when it lapsed I made one attempt to renew for whatever the good special rate was (likely $25/5mo). They wouldn’t do it because I had not received a letter with that offer and I never turned it on again.
@eonfifty@mtbm33@djslack I originally bought my lifetime subscription from Sirius years before the merger. I was grandfathered in after the merger. It may or may not still be available, you would have to press real hard to see if it is and what the fee would be now. If it is available, it certainly will be more than what I paid!
As to the life of the radio receiver. I am now on my third receiver. When the first one failed, I paid $50 to transfer the lifetime subscription and activate the new receiver. I did this on a phone call. When the second receiver died, I paid $75, I think, but don’t remember for sure to transfer and activate it.
Both times while on the phone, the receiver activation was almost instantaneous. I paid, they activated, and I listen as a happy camper.
I don’t have built-in SiriusXM in my cars. And if I did, I doubt I would pay for it. I do have a small car adapter, which on the rare occasions when I want to use it, I just plug into the accessory and play the sound through the FM radio.
I have a table top player, which is where the receiver sits 99.99% of the time. I love the variety of the SiriusXM system.
I did help to get one along with the table top player for a blind friend, who uses his more than I use mine (but not while driving). He did not want to go down the lifetime subscription route, so I let that slide.
@RiotDemon Ugh. The $3.95 for one shirt was a bit much for me to pay for something I didn’t absolutely have to own. It’s not outrageous but I know damn well that shirt could be shipped for less than half of that.
@cinoclav@RiotDemon Easy peasy! Pitney Bowes can ship anything on the cheap. Sometimes stuff actually arrives before you’re too senile to remember ordering it!
@RiotDemon@sammydog01 Well I used to … then they changed the blanks. Which is kind of ironic coming from them, since Ramy started the company after shirt.woot announced they were changing to Anvil. The very next day.
@RiotDemon@sammydog01 I’ll have to see when I last ordered something, but it’s been months.
For the men’s shirts, they’ve also gone to Live and Tell (aka LAT apparel) blanks. They’re not as squishy soft as AA or Next Level, but worse off, my biggest gripe is the way the sleeves are tapered; it’s sharp like the mutant Anvils, so it’s tight at the armpit and the shirt tends to rise up anytime I’m lifting my arms.
@tinamarie1974 But it’s waterproof when you go swimmng pool. I think someone who can’t spell also doesn’t know the difference between centimeters and inches.
Adameve.com use code get60 to get 60% off one item (some exclusions apply) and as long as you buy 14.95 or more, you get another mystery gift for free (choose DVD, men’s toy, or women’s toy)
Or use code blast50 (lol) to get 50 percent off one item, free shipping and two free gifts (one mystery item and a choice between some videos)
Hitman is free on Epic this week. I’m not familiar with the game. Do you get to murder people in it? I really want to murder people. I’ll have to give it a shot.
@RiotDemon@sammydog01
The mobile game was also free a while back. The mobile version is a puzzle game, kind of towers of hanoi or missing piece slider puzzle.
eBay.com: Select eBay accounts: $25 off your purchase of $25.01 or more. Use code HAPPY25 on checkout.
Seems to be targeted at existing accounts which have been active for a while. Worked for me, though I established my account in the early days of eBay.
@ruouttaurmind That’s a great coupon. I’m too new to get one of these, but look at all of the money I saved over the years because I didn’t have an account.
@mike808 $25 for free? I just picked some rando stuff I knew I would be able to use. Gilette razor carts and some socks. Boring? Sure, but I’ll definitely be able to use the stuff. If eBay wants to reward my years of support with free goodies, who am I to argue?
@RiotDemon Did you try the discount code anyway? Just pick any item over $25, add it to your cart and enter the code to see what happens. If the discount is applied, empty your cart and go shopping!
Ya, I’m still a bit bent over the whole Walker earmuff debacle. You too? Well, y’all remember those Metabo routers ya got suckered into picking up at Lowe’s? Never fear! Ol’ ruouttaurmind is here to help you spend more dosh on a handy accessory for that bad boy…
Don’t believe the Lowe’s product title “ Bosch 15-Amps Adjustable MDF Router Table”. This is an aluminum table top with a plastic base, no router is included.
Mount your router in this table and open up tons of new uses. (Yes, Bosch says this is definitely compatible with those Metabo routers). One of the most useful features is the ability to use your router as a jointer IMHO. Smooth and straighten the edges of that reclaimed pallet wood you’re gonna use for a project… someday. Add finger grooves or shiplap edges for superior fit in your woodworking or remodeling projects. Create custom profile trim molding at a fraction of the price of DIY stores… the possibilities are numerous.
@ruouttaurmind@tinamarie1974 I don’t get why everyone was so excited about those ear muffs. Unless you are working with someone you need to talk to without removing them you can get a nifty pair for less than that and tune out the world. Mine came from the gun store.
@RiotDemon@sammydog01 Absolutely. It’s uncommon for me to be shooting by myself. These would allow convenient communication with whoever I’m with. Particularly useful when sighting a gun. The spotter can easily relay results between shots without having to yell.
@djslack They cancelled my order for the table. Order placed about 6 hours before showing OOS on the website. Lowe’s really should re-evaluate their online inventory and order system.
@ruouttaurmind I once cut a hole in a piece of scrap MDF for an impromptu router table. Keep thinking I should have something better, but that board’s worked OK for twenty years. And stores in almost zero space.
@walarney I have a home-brew router table in the works. A much larger table than that Bosch. But for a hundred bucks, I was willing get the Bosch as a gap filler. Even building a decent router table is an expensive undertaking if you want a fully featured setup.
The kind of stuff I’m working on really needs a bit of precision and reasonably squared dimensions, a usable miter, adjustable 2-piece fence, adjustable depth, etc. A bit more than a piece of MDF can do for me. I’ve been working with my router mounted in an old bathroom vanity I scavenged but it falls short of my hopes and dreams.
@ruouttaurmind I have a bathroom vanity I haven’t decided to use for a router table or just pitch. I also have one of those metal military surplus desks I’ve had ideas about converting. But you know how it is with time.
@RiotDemon Well, if it’s reasonably sturdy it can be repurposed for a number of things. Lots of plans out there on the interwebs for making your own router table which could be mounted onto a repurposed vanity.
The one I have been storing is all oak so it’s very sturdy. The problem with most vanities is they typically have no back (or a thin piece of hardboard on the back as a cosmetic measure). So I will have to add a sturdy piece of plywood. Or maybe some of that pallet wood I’ve been reclaiming would make a respectable shiplap side.
Valid for new memberships or previous members; not valid for renewal of current membership.
I’ve done the Sam’s Club specials a couple times, but the nearest store is far enough away that I never really went there after using the promo offers. There is a Costco about 2 miles away so I may actually use it. Anyone here who has recent Costco membership experience is requested to opine about the usefulness of it. Useful tool? Waste of $60?
@ruouttaurmind@mike808 is our best Costco shill, but I have both Sam’s and Costco memberships.
I’m finding more of a variety of Keto-type food at Costco lately. Plus they had a GREAT DEAL on a HUGE cat tree for ~$80 to $90 a couple of weeks ago. It is a piece that would easily be much more elsewhere. They only do the cat trees a couple of times a year and they sell out quickly. Online their cat tree prices are meh.
@ruouttaurmind@therealjrn
I have both, but I work my spend at Costco because the cash back rewards (Executive, Citi Costco Visa) are the best available (2% Costco+2% Citi) and the quality is consistently better than Sam’s. For rock bottom price and quality, Sam’s is better. There are some things that only one has, so we use both. Sam’s: On The Border chips, 32oz Coffeemate Natural Bliss Sweet Cream, lint rollers, 1lb multipacks of ground beef, and a few other items. Costco: rotisserie chicken, kirkland vodka, and their seasonal items/sales tend to be better quality/warranty (with a higher price, but still a good value).
Also, you can get 5% CB on Costco gift cards ordered via the website when Discover does their warehouse category. The rest, I get 4% CB the rest of the year with the Costco Visa.
Having both is useful when traveling for gas and pit stops. Both have reasonable local items. I find the staff at Costco seem happier at work, and the company isn’t focused on squeezing every penny out of the supply chain, the employees, the product price points, or targeting lowest-price consumers, as Sam’s does. Voting with my dollars against Walmart is bonus.
@ruouttaurmind I’ve been a Costco member for quite a few years already. The savings on fuel alone, which is at least 10 cents a gallon around here, pays for the membership and then some.
I eat a lot of Greek yogurt, so Chobani by the box, at half the price of regular markets, is a huge savings too.
@f00l@narfcake@ruouttaurmind@sammydog01
Huh. I know they have a new car buying program too, because they usually have a couple of cars up front. 50K for a car? No thank you.
My Sam’s is putting in an optical shop, I’m looking forward to that. I think Costco does that as well, but our Bixby, Oklahoma Costco doesn’t have one.
Since Costco came to town Sam’s gas got MUCH cheaper too. It used to be just a few cents off regular prices, but now it makes it worth it at a dime or more off.
Re glasses
My last set came from Warby-Parker. And covered by insurance! V nice.
I don’t wear them, only because TX decided I didn’t need to, after I had already purchased them. And now, of course, I don’t remember where I put them. They’re around somewhere.
If you have a local Warby-Parker, those glasses will likely be cheaper than Costco, where I bought my prev set.
Tho the Costco ones were quite nice.
Warby-Parker glasses can also be ordered online, if you feel confident doing that.
Either way you will need a fairly current prescription. I got mine from the local Costco optometrist, also covered by insurance.
@f00l@narfcake@ruouttaurmind@therealjrn I forgot, I buy my daughter glasses at Costco. My prescription is tricky so I get them at the optometrist. And pay a ton extra.
Per the Metabo product info: * Covered by Metabo HPT’s Lifetime Lithium Ion tool warranty & 2-Year Lithium Ion battery warranty.*
Dang, that’s a serious warranty. If I wasn’t already well stocked with Dewalt 20V Max stuff I would probably jump on this set. The specs on these are substantially better than anything else in this price range, and comparable to Dewalt or Makita drill/driver sets in the $200 range. And that warranty. Other than the Home Depot house brand, I don’t think any other makers are doing lifetime warranty.
Dang! I totally overlooked the fact that drill is actually a hammer drill. 22 step clutch as well. Yup, if you don’t already have 18V or 20V tools, jump on this. I doubt you’ll find this much tool at this price range anywhere else.
Now that’s a pretty good selling point right there. I wonder if they still offer that.
I have a 5.11Tactical capacitor based flashlight which supposedly has a lifetime warranty. Unfortunately they’ve discontinued that technology and are offering some crappy little pocket light that uses 2x CR123 lithium batteries. The original light and recharging base was over $200. They sell the little one for $50. And not rechargeable. Hardly any kind of suitable replacement. It doesn’t even include the first set of batteries!

@Barney@sammydog01@tinamarie1974 I was super lucky with him. He was a westphalian warmblood that was abandoned at the barn I took lessons at. I ended up buying him for super cheap since I was one of the only people that ever rode him. If he was younger, he would of been easily 20-30k. He was trained in dressage (not sure what level since I was pretty low when it came to dressage) and grand prix jumping. I didn’t jump him because he was older and it was terrifying. In grand prix it’s jump high, clean, and as fast as you can. If there was jumps set up in the arena, you could feel him turn into a giant ball of energy.
I wish i had my original ebay account, it would be very early, maybe even '95. My dad was an ebay user when they were actually just the bay area forum and just introduced auctions, even though we’re nowhere near the bay. I wish i had pushed him to invest in their IPO, he had options to buy in as an early user but we were like “what could that ever be worth really.” Oops.
My first account was tied to my college email address, I am not sure how i lost it but somewhere i did. Someone reactivated it in 1998 and it now has 2000+ feedback and almost 200 items currently for sale.
My current account has been around since 11-25-1998, i’m glad i went on their site and looked for that message as it had a $25 coupon attached to it.
Ace Hardware is once again offering the Craftsman 13 inch Wide Mouth Tool Bag, but this time it’s $4 for Ace Rewards members and free in-store pickup.

@ruouttaurmind I use a similar Craftsman bag as a nondescript range bag. I may have to go to Ace and pick one of these up.

eBay has a coupon for 15% off select refurbished items, up to $150 off. Lots of Dyson and Shark vacuums, HP and Lenovo laptops, Garmin items, and more are included. Good for up to 2 uses through 8/2.
https://www.ebay.com/e/home-garden/certified-refurbished-coupon
@djslack If I could buy a refurbished life please… I don’t think the coupon is good for that though… Too bad.
@djslack quick, does anyone know if any of the refurb laptops are a good deal?
If smaller is of value you could also consider this brand new Chromebook 4 for about the same money:

Has anyone else here had any experience with this company?
@eonfifty
Their CS back then was US based and pretty good
Dunno if this tactic still works.
@f00l This is a streaming only subscription. An actual satellite radio subscription is about $22 for all content, $17 for less content and $11 for basic content. How long has it been since you’ve subscribed?
@eonfifty
Has been the better part of a decade since I subscribed.
Back then, the really good deals were either satellite or satellite+streaming. There never seemed to be great deals on streaming only.
I still like Sirius. I just have 3000 audiobooks and podcasts to get thru before I have any time for their content.
@eonfifty if they bring back Sirius Disorder I’ll think about it.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sirius_Disorder
What did you like about it?
@eonfifty
The many excellent channels bringing me songs and sounds I’d never heard before.
The Howard Stern Show
I decided to try it . It sounds as good or better as what you get on a satellite receiver . I don’t get traffic report channels . The content and presentation are great, but it’s hard to tell what’s live and what’s a rerun .
@f00l @craigthom
@craigthom @eonfifty @f00l
@Cerridwyn @craigthom @eonfifty @f00l Thanks for reminding me my daughter’s car subscription is renewing and jumps from $7.50/month to $22/month. Guess I need to make a very long phone call tomorrow. Fuck those guys. I got a few free months with my new car but I hate the games they play. I’ll listen to FM, thank you very much.
@Cerridwyn @craigthom @f00l
In their Customer Agreement document, it states you have to call them on a telephone to cancel. They may be the anti-meh of the subscription business. Did you call them?
@Cerridwyn @craigthom @f00l @sammydog01
Why will the call be long?
/giphy long phone call
There was no genre. It was all over the place.
@eonfifty @mtbm33 I was a subscriber before SiriusXM was seriously XM’d.
@Cerridwyn @craigthom @eonfifty @sammydog01
Sirius was more than half a decade ago for me.
But … When I called in to negotiate my renewal date, that call was not long and not unpleasant. Way back when.
Sometimes I opted for the discount annual rate. But usually I wanted the $25 for 5 months.
If you do this just emphasize that you will cancel otherwise. That’s to get you to the right dept.
But they were always v nice and so was I.
Some of these come with both satellite and internet. Others not. I forget the details.
If I got it today I’d prob want internet only. But have 1000’s of audiobooks waiting, so not doing sirius.
@Cerridwyn @craigthom @eonfifty @f00l I was able to take care of it using the online chat.
@Jackinga @mtbm33 Which service did you get the lifetime subscription from? I had considered a regular XM subscription over Sirius back when they were independent companies.
Also, I’m reading that the lifetime subscription belongs to a single, physical radio. So if your radio ever dies, the lifetime subscription goes with it. Do you know anything about this?
@Cerridwyn @craigthom @f00l @sammydog01 Unless @mtbm33 didn’t include fees and taxes, you could have gotten a better deal… And you pay less than my estimated fees and taxes. They sent me an email stating I’d expect to pay $15.27 per month after the free trial: $13 for the best streaming package, $1.14 for royalty fees and $1.13 in taxes.
@craigthom @eonfifty If you like random stuff try WUVT on tune-in.
@eonfifty The Loft isn’t bad, but it isn’t nearly as diverse. You probably won’t hear any Bill Monroe or Louis Prima or Neu!, but maybe i just didn’t give it enough time.
@eonfifty @Jackinga I was gonna ask this about radio IDs too.
@eonfifty @mtbm33 @djslack I originally bought my lifetime subscription from Sirius years before the merger.
@Cerridwyn @craigthom @eonfifty @f00l @sammydog01 I had not included taxes/fees/royalties. I just looked it up and the total was $76.36 (about $6.36/mo total).
@Cerridwyn @craigthom @f00l @mtbm33 @sammydog01 Huh. You also pay about half of what I should expect to pay in taxes and “royalty fees” when my paid subscription begins.
@Cerridwyn @craigthom @eonfifty @f00l @mtbm33 My bill says $1.07 music royalty and $.30 state and local taxes.
@f00l I heard some of Howard’s show the other day for the first time since he left am/fm radio. It was just how I remembered it but so much better.
Shirt Sale PSA:
www.teeturtle.com has 50% of their Halloween shirts, so around 12.50 a shirt.
Also try coupon code U2GW4D for 20% off.
@RiotDemon Some of those shirts are adorable.
@sammydog01 totally! They are nice quality too. @narfcake sings their praises a lot too.
Sizing is similar to mediocritee, at least the men’s sizing.
@RiotDemon If they offered free shipping I’d be all over it.
@cinoclav yeah, shipping charges always bum me out, but I get it. Shipping was $9 something for 6 items.
@RiotDemon Getting ready for Halloween already? I ordered one of these:
https://www.amazon.com/Funko-Advent-Calendar-Countdown-Multicolor/dp/B082FS24KJ
I know you’re not into Funko pops but I think it will be fun.
@RiotDemon Ugh. The $3.95 for one shirt was a bit much for me to pay for something I didn’t absolutely have to own. It’s not outrageous but I know damn well that shirt could be shipped for less than half of that.
@sammydog01 when am I not getting ready for Halloween??
@cinoclav really? Mail never is that cheap for me.
@RiotDemon For you, no. For a company that’s mailing thousands of packages, yes. Especially when they weigh so little.
@cinoclav @RiotDemon Easy peasy! Pitney Bowes can ship anything on the cheap. Sometimes stuff actually arrives before you’re too senile to remember ordering it!
@RiotDemon @sammydog01 Well I used to … then they changed the blanks. Which is kind of ironic coming from them, since Ramy started the company after shirt.woot announced they were changing to Anvil. The very next day.
@narfcake @sammydog01 noooooo. When did they change the blanks? What blanks? Ugh.
@RiotDemon @sammydog01 I’ll have to see when I last ordered something, but it’s been months.
@narfcake @sammydog01 well, I’m sad that I endorsed them without realizing this.
Might still work out for me… But I won’t know for several weeks since I ordered a shirt that was out of stock.
@cinoclav @RiotDemon @ruouttaurmind
Save yourself!
If you still can, I mean.
It’s already too late for me.
Interesting "personal massager for sale on “that other site” . Just note the dimensions prior to purchase…OUCH!!
LUXELUV Personal Massager - $18.89 - Free shipping for Prime members https://home.woot.com/offers/luxeluv-g-spot-vibrator?utm_medium=share&utm_source=app
@tinamarie1974 But it’s waterproof when you go swimmng pool. I think someone who can’t spell also doesn’t know the difference between centimeters and inches.
@sammydog01 Based on the dims I could use it as a vibrating noodle!!!
@sammydog01 @tinamarie1974 lol, 22"! I’m guessing maybe it’s 2.2?
@RiotDemon @sammydog01 @tinamarie1974
I’m pretty sure it’s supposed to be mm, not inches.
@ruouttaurmind @sammydog01 @tinamarie1974 22mm is only .86 inches. That doesn’t sound right.
@RiotDemon @sammydog01 @tinamarie1974
I will defer to the ladies on this, as I have no experience with such things. But doesn’t that seem about right?
@ruouttaurmind @sammydog01 @tinamarie1974 whoops. I thought the 22 was at the top. That seems more accurate, but still not quite right.
@RiotDemon You should have seen the reactions I got when I asked my graphics group for a volunteer to edit the original Woot pic.
@RiotDemon @ruouttaurmind @sammydog01 that does but what was your conversion?
@tinamarie1974 Roughly 1”:25mm. Assuming the previous labels had the correct numerical values but incorrect unit of measure.
@ruouttaurmind @tinamarie1974 @RiotDemon
Too bad it’s sold out; I’d buy one just to, uh, give y’all the correct measurements.
@Barney @RiotDemon @ruouttaurmind well. I suspect your phone would appreciate the company in that drawer of yours!!
@RiotDemon @ruouttaurmind @sammydog01 @tinamarie1974 I wonder if any of the buyers are going to be disappointed to find out what the dimensions really are?
@RiotDemon @ruouttaurmind @tinamarie1974 My phone gets sooo lonely.
@Kyeh @ruouttaurmind @sammydog01 @tinamarie1974 since we are on the deals page…

Hitman is free on Epic this week. I’m not familiar with the game. Do you get to murder people in it? I really want to murder people. I’ll have to give it a shot.
@sammydog01 you play… a hitman.
Not to self. Stay on @sammydog01 good side this week!!
@RiotDemon @sammydog01
@Barney @ruouttaurmind I got one too. Just can’t think of anything I want on eBay right at the moment.
@mike808 $25 for free? I just picked some rando stuff I knew I would be able to use. Gilette razor carts and some socks. Boring? Sure, but I’ll definitely be able to use the stuff. If eBay wants to reward my years of support with free goodies, who am I to argue?
@ruouttaurmind Thanks, I had one waiting for me too! Says I first registered 3-30-1999. Hard to believe I’ve been on eBay for 21+ years.
@cinoclav @ruouttaurmind meh. I’ve only been with them since 2001 and I got 25% off coupon off name brand items.
Sad face.
@RiotDemon Did you try the discount code anyway? Just pick any item over $25, add it to your cart and enter the code to see what happens. If the discount is applied, empty your cart and go shopping!
@ruouttaurmind no luck.
@ruouttaurmind I have the coupon! What should I buy?
I wish I had waited on the second burner phone I just bought.
@ruouttaurmind They have this in my size:
@ruouttaurmind AND THIS ONE!
@sammydog01 I vote for the bunny.
@ruouttaurmind @sammydog01 sadly I do not
@ruouttaurmind @sammydog01 I vote for the silver. I had a silver pair of airwalks that my ex absolutely hated. I miss them.
@RiotDemon @tinamarie1974 @ruouttaurmind I’ll probably use it on shampoo which makes me kind of sad. I would look good in those silver crocs.
@RiotDemon @ruouttaurmind @sammydog01 get em! get em! get em!!!
@RiotDemon @ruouttaurmind @tinamarie1974 Looks like I joined in 1999. Wow. Decided I have enough shampoo for a while. Glitter Crocs are on the way.
@RiotDemon @ruouttaurmind @sammydog01 YYYEEEESSSSSS!!
@sammydog01 My name is ruouttaurmind and I endorse this frivolous purchase.
@RiotDemon @ruouttaurmind @tinamarie1974 I feel like Princess Ronald McDonald.
@Barney Guess what color they have in stock?
@RiotDemon @ruouttaurmind @sammydog01 if you click your heels three times will they transport you to 2021?
@sammydog01 Noooooo, I’m trying to SAVE money.

DOTD @ Home Depot 20 bucks for a Martha Stewart Living 7.5 in. Japanese Artisanal Stainless Steel Hori Hori Knife with Protective Sheath
It’s Artisanal!
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Martha-Stewart-Living-7-5-in-Japanese-Artisanal-Stainless-Steel-Hori-Hori-Knife-with-Protective-Sheath-MTS-JHHK1/312186096
@therealjrn Fuck anything with Martha Stewart’s name on it. (Oh and fuck Home Depot too.)
@cinoclav @therealjrn it looks like a shitty trowel, and a shitty saw.
I’d rather use my $1 trowel and get a real saw/knife.
@cinoclav @RiotDemon So I take it you won’t be needing the Japanese Artisanal weed puller then either?
@cinoclav @RiotDemon @therealjrn
I dunno. Was the finish basted for 40 hours over mesquite, using a cinnamon-leek-habanero sauce?
Then I might need it.
Lowe’s: Bosch Adjustable Router Table for $115 and free in-store or curbside pickup.
Bosch product page linky.
@ruouttaurmind
/giphy eye twitch
@ruouttaurmind I’m still getting authorization holds for the earmuff on my CC every week even though I actually received them.
KuoH
@ruouttaurmind hhuuummm just let me know when you find another muff deal!
@ruouttaurmind @tinamarie1974 I don’t get why everyone was so excited about those ear muffs. Unless you are working with someone you need to talk to without removing them you can get a nifty pair for less than that and tune out the world. Mine came from the gun store.
@sammydog01
This.
@ruouttaurmind @sammydog01 @tinamarie1974 I wanted them for shooting. I use regular muffs now and voices are muted. This would of been an upgrade.
@RiotDemon @sammydog01 Absolutely. It’s uncommon for me to be shooting by myself. These would allow convenient communication with whoever I’m with. Particularly useful when sighting a gun. The spotter can easily relay results between shots without having to yell.
@RiotDemon @ruouttaurmind @sammydog01 for my niece w sound sensitivity/Autism
@RiotDemon @ruouttaurmind @sammydog01 @tinamarie1974 I was buying one because I didn’t know what I was doing.
@Barney @RiotDemon @ruouttaurmind @tinamarie1974 I guess if they ever ship you need to buy a gun to go with them?
@RiotDemon @ruouttaurmind @sammydog01 @tinamarie1974 Mine was cancelled.
@ruouttaurmind OOS… I should have come by here earlier in the day.
Also, same, @kuoh. Just got another authorization the other night.
@walarney
Brother, I’m livin’ it. My plans exceed my time and motivation tenfold.
@ruouttaurmind @walarney so are you saying that when I replace the vanity in my bathroom that I should keep the cabinet as a router table?
@RiotDemon Well, if it’s reasonably sturdy it can be repurposed for a number of things. Lots of plans out there on the interwebs for making your own router table which could be mounted onto a repurposed vanity.
The one I have been storing is all oak so it’s very sturdy. The problem with most vanities is they typically have no back (or a thin piece of hardboard on the back as a cosmetic measure). So I will have to add a sturdy piece of plywood. Or maybe some of that pallet wood I’ve been reclaiming would make a respectable shiplap side.
Chirp has an audiobook called Tidy the Fuck Up for $3.99. I’m pretty sure Marie Kondo won’t work for me but who knows- maybe I’ll be inspired to get rid of shit.

Costco via Groupon: One-Year Costco Gold Star Membership for $60, includes $40 Costco Shop Card and $40 discount for $250+ online order.
@ruouttaurmind @mike808 is our best Costco shill, but I have both Sam’s and Costco memberships.
Sam’s is still my goto for day-to-day stuff.
@ruouttaurmind @therealjrn
@narfcake @ruouttaurmind
Everyone I know who shops those sorts of places loves Costco far more than Sam’s - for what it’s worth
@f00l @narfcake @ruouttaurmind I just ordered flowers for my mother online at Costco. I didn’t even know that was a thing.
@f00l @narfcake @ruouttaurmind @sammydog01
Yay competition!
@narfcake @ruouttaurmind @sammydog01 @therealjrn
@f00l @narfcake @ruouttaurmind @therealjrn I forgot, I buy my daughter glasses at Costco. My prescription is tricky so I get them at the optometrist. And pay a ton extra.

Woot: Metabo HPT 18V Cordless Hammer Drill and Impact Driver Combo Kit with 2 batteries and charger for $110 and free Prime shipping or whatever they charge for non-Prime subscribers.
Metabo product page
@ruouttaurmind this reminds me, I have a rockwell set with lifetime battery warranty I need to look into refreshing the batteries on.
@ruouttaurmind I think I want one of those.
Edit: I guess I don’t. They’re sold out.
@Barney Well that’s unfortunate.
I guess it was a decent deal after all.
@djslack
EBAY has a 25% off coupon, 25 select stores. It’s technically September, though. Oh. It’s actually September
@OldCatLady It works for Crocs. Even glitter Crocs. I had a better coupon though.

@RiotDemon @tinamarie1974 I wasn’t subscribed to emails when it should have come but my profile says August 1999.
@RiotDemon @sammydog01 I was a little behind the times
@sammydog01 @tinamarie1974 I’m so bummed that I didn’t get that email.
@RiotDemon @sammydog01 i thought it was pretty cool. I totes remember the palm pilot. I thought I was super cool. The shoes…not so much.
@RiotDemon @sammydog01 @tinamarie1974 You can go into Ebay>My Ebay and look under messages. The email is still there under 25 Years of Ebay? No Way!
Believe it or not my first purchase was an end of the world book.
@Barney @RiotDemon @sammydog01 did you buy it in 1999?
@RiotDemon @sammydog01 @tinamarie1974 Nah, I didn’t join Ebay until June of 2011. I’m a late bloomer.
@Barney @RiotDemon @sammydog01 hum, so you were just making sure this ebay stuff wasn’t a flash in the pan before you dipped your toe in thewater, right?
@Barney @RiotDemon @tinamarie1974
Aww, she turned 20 today.
@RiotDemon @sammydog01 @tinamarie1974 Happy Birthday to her!
@RiotDemon @sammydog01 @tinamarie1974 Nope, I was just making sure that computers weren’t a flash in the pan.
@Barney @RiotDemon @tinamarie1974 Looks like I had my account for 4 years before I bought anything.
@RiotDemon @sammydog01 @tinamarie1974 WOW! I CAN’T BELIEVE THAT!
@Barney @RiotDemon @sammydog01
@Barney @RiotDemon @tinamarie1974 Dealing with little kids made me too busy to shop.

Guess I need to branch out a bit.
@Barney @RiotDemon @sammydog01 you had a horse?!.!?!?!
@Barney @sammydog01 @tinamarie1974 it’s been about ten years since I had to give him up.
@Barney @RiotDemon @sammydog01 aww sorry.
He is beautiful.
@Barney @sammydog01 @tinamarie1974 I was super lucky with him.
