@daveinwarsh My denim jacket was bought, worn a couple of years and discarded in the 70’s. I am sort of tone-deaf when it comes to fashion and was shocked by the poll’s implication that evidently they made some sort of a comeback in the 90’s?
@daveinwarsh Here’s a pic. It’s a nice fleece lined Levi winter coat, I distressed it myself over 40 years.
It’s kinda tight lately. Either it suddenly shrunk or possibly I gained a little weight…
@elimanningface Ha! I’d live that down. It’s a great jacket for working around the farm on cold days. Too bad it’s a bit small for me lately.
I have no problem wearing jeans. I wore them every day at work & still do. I’ve happily never had a ‘desk job’.
@daveinwarsh Nice jacket. My favorite uncle had one that he wore outside, for work, for flying (private pilot), etc for many years. I’d wear one like that without qualms, no matter what the ignorati might have to say.
@Kidsandliz can’t speak for that person but depending on a bunch of stuff you might just not have a need for one. i have a few jackets but largely for the ~fashion~ aspect. i have one ‘real’ coat that i bought two years ago and never wore. i live in boston where it definitely gets cold but i drive everywhere & i’m just one of those people that run very warm.
@jerk_nugget I live in Arizona but that last part is the same for me. I feel cold sometimes but not enough or for long enough that I’d wanna buy certain clothing just for it. Honestly I wouldn’t even wear anything more than shorts and a T-shirt if I didn’t have to wear pants for work.
No, not any more but my sister recently found one she bejeweled in high school. I do have a pair of denim shirts that I occasionally wear to work when its not too warm in there.
Guess Georges Marciano denim jacket. Scraped and saved and finally purchased in 1984. I paid WAY too much for it at the time. I still have it around here somewhere. Wasn’t about to toss it out after all I went through to save up for it. Pop the collar and oh, I was the cock of the walk for about a minute. LOL!
My Levi’s jacket from 1984 is still alive and kicking! I only wear it twice a year because it looks like it might fall apart with each wear, but that just means it’s broken in finally.
When you live in the South, denim is a must have for weekends. But I only wear the jacket once or twice a year. The rest of the time its in the upstairs closet.
i got a black denim one from f21 last year. i love it & wear it all the time. i wish they offered one that wasn’t ‘distressed’ but oh well.
according to some pictures i came across recently i also used to own/wear a regular blue denim one, but the weird thing is i don’t remember it at all. (i usually wear the same few things over and over until they disintegrate and i’m only in my 30s so it’s not like me to forget something i wore enough to show up in a photo.) /shrug
I’ve got a denim jacket. I paid I think $10 for it because it was on the clearance rack. Distressed black denim was apparently out of style. shrug - like that’s why I’ve ever bought anything.
I don’t wear it often, but I do when I’m going to be working outside in the wind working or camping. It’s not as warm as some of the others, but it’s great at keeping the wind out.
My “good” Columbia coat works as well for keeping out the wind, but I don’t want to get it where it can get greasy, smoky, or sticky, or otherwise damaged.
Oh, and my kids have borrowed it for '80’s day at school.
Yes.
I bought it in the early 70’s.

@daveinwarsh I think you made the smart move to not photograph yourself wearing it. That would be a shame tough to live down.

Members Only, fools.
@melonscoop
/giphy "you rang?"
@f00l Nooice.
Circa-1988 huja did. Circa-1989 huja was done with it.
I don’t own a denim anything.
@brhfl Let’s see if meh can change that!
I last wore a denim jacket in the late 80s. It was not a good look on young Vinny.
I don’t own a jacket.
@Al_Coholic So you wear blankets when it is cold?

@Kidsandliz Yes, the garb of my people. Just kidding, see above.

This is very close to my brother’s Guns N Roses denim jacket from the 80’s (sans God awful penta-rat-mullet)
@hems79
That’s gorgeous, but where would you wear it now?
@f00l I believe the Trump victory tour is still ongoing so he has options.
@elimanningface
True. It would be nice to see someone dressed in such a jacket expressing their true opinion about our President.
In fact, i’d very much like to hear Slash’s opinion, complete w guitar.
@hems79 Take me down to the Denim City, where the jeans are ripped and cost just a penny . . .

Fashion in the 80’s was strange indeed.
I’ve got a full Canadian tuxedo…if ya’ know what I mean.
@quantrill I don’t. Show us.
@quantrill
Duck Tape Tux?
@f00l

@f00l I love their creativity. The thought of wearing what is essentially a plastic dress… Just ugh. So hot.
@RiotDemon
Maybe they take a change of clothes - breathable - to the prom for later.
It would be amazing to look young and adorable, and wear something like that, and make an entrance.

I love my denim jacket and love to accessorize it with very cool enamel pins that are in right now.

Yep. Never wear it.
Yes, this one. Mystere was the first Cirque show we saw.
sure it’s a must have, soon going to buy another one
